  1. Japan's war-crimes were at par with the Nazis on some levels. The big threat in the Pacific theater was that if China fell it would free-up the massive Japanese army there for other purposes. Japan's weak spot was its transport system. It was considered a dishonor to be sent to guard convoys in the IJN...so ASW methods were sloppy and half hearted at best. US submarines quickly became the best on the planet once they figured out their torpedo issues...so the Japanese transports, oilers, tankers, etc, sank in great droves. Never to be replaced...

  2. While I don't agree with the anti-vaxers and the anti-Covid crowd, I still believe Canadians have freedom of speech. This guy Chris Sky has just been put on the no-fly list for being an anti-vaxer, anti-Covid protestor/speaker for exercising his right to freedom speech. The government appears to be shutting him down and preventing him from travel so he cannot go to protest rallies and speak. This while a convicted terrorist, who killed someone when he was fighting for al Qaida in Afghanistan, received 10.5 million dollars and an apology, is not on the no fly list and is free to fly. This is Trudeau's Canada. Trudeau did express his admiration for the Chinese Communist system about six years ago. Are we fast becoming a Communist state? Could the pandemic and Trudeau government's response be the trigger that removes our fundamental freedoms and establishes Canada as a Communist dictatorship? Should there be a difference between the way a Communist dictatorship acts and the way a western democracy acts toward people who differ in their beliefs and speech about the pandemic and government response? https://www.rebelnews.com/chris_sky_lands_on_canadas_no_fly_list?utm_campaign=rr_04_09_2021&utm_medium=email&utm_source=therebel

  3. I wouldn't presume. This data shows that at least 85% of those in ICU's are age 50 and over. Below age 40, it is only 10%. https://health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/epidemiological-summary-covid-19-cases.html Scroll down to figure 5 at the bottom. Sleep well...

  4. You and Blackbird talk about things you know very little about. You need to have lived under a socialist system to understand. Neither Marx, Engels or Lenin wrote anywhere that people should be deprived of independence, locked up for their beliefs , mistreated, humiliated, oppressed or left penniless. The system wasn't meant to be evil. This same good system of yours has all the flaws you can think about, but what is bad is immediately classified as socialist. For your information it wasn't the socialists who raped kids in residential schools, killed off the Indians and dispossessed them of land, killed off most wildlife and continue to do so, left their own people behind in favour of globalist open market agendas benefiting stateless crooks. It wasn't the socialists who threw all the garbage along the highways and into the forests. It was you guys! Who cares about starting a business and getting money from a bank to be in debt indefinitely and spin wheels for years till there is only one word left in our heads - "money". We, real people, think about life and the values of relationships, knowledge, ecosystems and all else before money.

  6. What word would you prefer Aristedes? People associate communism with authoritarian control over the media and all aspects of daily life and the government. Canada is a lot like China now, where there's a hodge podge of capitalism along with strict government oversight and control that is unconstitutional by western standards. What is the difference between Trudeau's Canada and Xi's China, Aristedes? Is one a capitalist democracy and the other a purely communist society? The answer to that is a flat out NO. They meet somewhere in the middle, and it's a lot closer to the 'communist' (actual/brutal communism, not theoretical/dreamy communism) side than you think.

  7. You don't think that people close to the top of socialist/communist regimes, who belch propaganda, get a lot of money? Basic rule of socialism, communism and autocracies: peons are poor, cronies are rich.

  8. The Japanese were protecting their homeland.... wiiiiiiiith a huge pile of dead bodies????? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_war_crimes I didn't even know about this 'til now. WTF. Seeing as it happened at least twice in the last century (Nazis), I wonder how much of that was done in the past that we just don't know about. If it's more common than I thought I don't want to know just yet. Ignorance actually is bliss sometimes. I forgot about this: https://www.cdc.gov/tuskegee/timeline.htm . IIRC the Americans were injecting people in hospitals with radiation and other fun things. This just went dark.

  9. Hi Goddess. This isn't that. If you choose, you can stay safe. My wife has even taken to it after being wary of the whole 'free' thing. Unlike 'freemium' games you might have encountered, Eve allows the free Alpha player the same game as the Omega and the opportunity to work one's way to premium with in-game cash. The difference between Alpha & Omega comes in what LARGER star ships/star bases you can operate...Alpha players can be Han Solo...but not Darth Vader...if you get my drift. Joining a corporation allows access to many allied players that might be either Alpha or Omega. Many corporations give Omega memberships to their most promising Alphas. Scott Manley whom you might have heard of is a big Eve player...he has some good vids on it. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=scott+manley+eve+online An old game...updated constantly. It first appeared back in 2003.

  11. As far as Japanese determination, I might remind folks that it was called "Bloody Attu" when it came to "just the Aleutians." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Attu And of course...Dutch Harbor...which was another 'classic' Japanese hit and run with carriers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Dutch_Harbor It's why Japan was a threat....they could project power in ways the Germans only could hope for.

  12. Yes, the IJN decimated Darwin in a day and then buggered-off. It's not just invasion places like Vancouver had to worry about. A couple of carriers and a bombardment fleet protected by a large submarine screen was pretty much a nightmare scenario circa 1942.

  13. And this is a very visual illustration of how the thinking goes somewhere, in a near-perfect isolation from the reality: 1. Given dismal performance (almost) two decades back shouldn't we be more careful now with this unknown and potentially dangerous new thingy? > not to worry, travel from Wuhan not a problem! 2. But it turned out to be a serious problem after all. > not to worry, serology showed that it didn't matter anyways! Now looks like this sort of lighthearted careless attitude runs pretty much everything in this country, including: public health; finances and economy; security and defense etc.

  14. You have the clear vision of being able to study the events after the fact and decide that Japan wasn't going to invade the West Coast of North America. Everybody was pretty convinced they COULD at the time (1942). As I've mentioned elsewhere on this forum, the darkest days of WW2 for the Allies came after the Battle of Java Sea when ALL hope seemed lost. There was literally little to stop the Japs. But then miracles involving aircraft carriers happened and Japan lost much of its ability to wage proper carrier warfare for the rest of the war. Training pilots took time...who knew? The Americans knew...

  16. Not just Pearl Harbor...but a string of victories all over the Pacific/Indian oceans. They just kept coming right up until Coral Sea/Midway.

  17. The threat was plenty real. Or do you not think the IJN and IJA were a match for the Canadian Army in 1942? They clearly beat us ONCE.

  18. My impression is supporters of permit controls might like to beat their chests and bleat about their superior virtue but it isn't so much care as control they're really pushing for. They don't seem so very worried about the problems of those they want control over.

  19. Not at all. It's called incompetence and although an autocratic socialist society could be rife with it calling it Communist is just clowning around.

  20. Exactly because real world communism is pure, and never corrupt.

  22. Ontario's head of "vaccine task force" Ret. Gen. Hillier was getting $20,000 monthly for his efforts. As close to communism as it gets, for some of us.

  23. "the phasing out of the Canadian Armed Forces." Let's invite the Chinese Army in to 'train' . . . . We older (mature) citizens are witness to the systematic dismantling of Canada. Soon to be just another shithole with no direction, no initiative, and no enthusiasm.
