  4. The leftist mind has been whipped to a high level of anxiety and fear for their very lives. The world is coming to an end in a mere 8 years. And now with Covid 19 as leverage to impose totalitarian rule, no democracy, no law is as powerful. The people accept it willingly. Checkmate. The game is over.

  5. Yesterday, in the midst of watching a seditious mob casually walk past an unprepared capitol hill police force, I came across a brilliant tweet: After spending the 20th century undermining democratically elected governments that commit the unforgivable crime of failing to be sufficiently deferential to US business interests, the US became a snake trying to devour it's own tail. Much attention was paid to Trump and his gang of sycophants. However, Trumpism is only marginally about Trump. For decades, across the western world, right wing ideologues (starting with Reagan and Thatcher) have been trashing anything remotely resembling collective action. Governments have been discredited (conservatives are people who are so convinced governments are incompetent, they elect people who will prove them right) and taxes slashed. The predictable results have been a diminished sense of individual security as wages stagnated; and healthcare and education retreated towards their traditional roles of being the exclusive preserve of the wealthy. Even among people doing relatively well, there is a heightened sense of precariousness as these days, anyone can lose their livelihood overnight. Nowhere is this more pronounced than in the US, where education and healthcare are most expensive, worker protections are weakest and corruption is rampant. Having been thoroughly inculcated with anti-government ideology, conservatives looked for others to blame for their problems and Trump supplied them with plenty of others - immigrants, Muslims, the media, and, most of all, Democrats. Hyped up on conspiracy theories, people will now automatically discredit anything that comes from "official" sources and believe whatever they find on the internet that confirms their beliefs. Many people assume that things will be OK as soon as Trump is out of office but this is far from evident. Seventy-five million lost souls voted for an evidently delusional, lifelong-crooked failed businessman who has never taken responsibility for anything. Those people will still be there once Trump leaves.

  6. I was more surprised at how senior Republican politicians degraded themselves attaching their lips to Trump's ass and didn't pay any price. I mean, Trump bitch-slapped Cruz, told him his wife was ugly and his father was a Nazi, and Cruz spent the next four years crawling for Trump. Yet he got re-elected. Apparently being spineless is considered a positive character trait for Republicans. Just ask Lyndsey Graham. All the names he called Trump, putting him down as the lowest, most miserable racist scumbag in the country before the election, only to pucker up and kiss his ass for four straight years afterward. Don't any of these people have any pride or backbone?

  7. You "confronted" them ? So what...the reasons are many...obvious even from Canada (watching so much American media. She didn't help herself with the "deplorables" gaffe. I would still take Trump over weak-ass Trudeau any day. Trump mattered more than Trudeau.

  9. 1. The average Trump voter was not a "dear leader" devotee...that is a much smaller demographic that existed long before Trump's great adventure into politics. Trump just gave a bigger voice to that demographic. 2. It went as expected, even for the Trump haters. Now its back to the same old familiar suck. 3. My only expectations of Trump (who I didn't vote for in 2016) were to continue the chaotic disruptions, and he delivered very well. First and foremost he prevented Hillary Clinton from becoming POTUS...a plus in my book.

  10. Then there's this: " President Trump’s White House put together a list of accomplishments to date from the President’s efforts while in office. The list is a mile long. https://www.whitehouse.gov/trump-administration-accomplishments/?utm_source=link" If somebody is governing the way you want him to you tend to approve. I get that progressive socialist types find that difficult to comprehend though. They can never experience the phenomena because even if they get what they're told they want they won't like it.

  12. I've already explained how nonsensical your other points were in previous posts but I thought I'd deal with this little bit of graphic dishonesty. You say wages grew steadily under Bush but clearly they fell for the first four years of his term. Did you think no one would notice? And then they returned to pretty much what they were when he took power. How exciting. They fell during Obama's first term. Gee, do you think that might have something to do with the great recession, which started under Bush due to his complete lack of oversight of the banking industry? Anyway, then it recovered, and even continued under Trump. The sudden upward rise in the final year, which the chart makes out to be a huge deal, is from 4% to 7%. Why? Because the Republicans pushed through a huge tax cut in 2019 paid for entirely with borrowed money. The tax cut was mainly for the rich and corporations, and made permanent for them. But to sell it to the rabble, they also gave a temporary tax cut to ordinary people. That tax cut is schedule to expire this year I believe. The tax cut was initiated by and negotiated among Republican senators and congressmen. The White House had very little to do with it. Although they included a special change to give real estate developers special, preferential tax treatment - for SOME reason no one can explain.

  14. One of Doug Ford's caucus has gone rogue and speaks out. I shall post the content of the letter here. A member of Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s caucus is speaking out against his own government’s policies and calling for an end to the province-wide pandemic lockdown. “The lockdown isn’t working,” writes York Centre Progressive Conservative MPP Roman Baber in a letter to Ford. “It’s causing an avalanche of suicides, overdoses, bankruptcies, divorces and takes an immense toll on our children. Dozens of leading doctors implored you to end the lockdowns.” The bolding is mine. Remember how I told you people are not getting cancer treatment, right before you people called me a Nazi. And others here applauded that. The north Toronto politician, who was first elected in 2018, also notes the various reported harms being caused by the lockdown — such as an oncologist from Princess Margaret Hospital fearing a “tsunami of cancer” due to reduced screenings and the Canadian Mental Health Association reporting a historic high of 10% of adults reporting thoughts of suicide. The bolding is mine. Someone else here on this forum said the ICU occupancy rate is less than one patient per hospital. You people ignored him, and called him bad names. “Today, there are 385 COVIDICU patients, that’s less than one patient per Ontario’s 492 hospitals. Risk can be minimized with transfers and good management. Urban area hospitals are always above capacity at this time of year – that’s why we campaigned on ending Hallway Healthcare.” “Premier, we should stop scaring children. This generation of kids will grow up with an anxiety disorder and will be afraid of normal life. Kids need to be kids again, back in school with their friends. They should not believe that coming close to another child may result in someone’s death. It’s false and unwarranted.” Baber says in the letter that this data was provided to him by the Ministry of Health on Jan. 12. Link I love how you leftists really like Doug Ford. You think he knows what he's doing. It shows how separated from reality you have become. Because you are inspired by authoritarian meatheads. The true Nazis are revealed.

  18. I was just watching that and thinking this is good but how can you share it? It's Alex Jones. The Corporates have convinced their people they're not to listen, watch or acknowledge the existence of Alex Jones. If anybody suggests they do they must be immediately shouted down with digital screams of gay frogs and Sandy Hook. I'm not a follower of AJ but I'm not afraid to listen to what he has to say. When he goes off the rails I either just listen for the entertainment or get bored and click away. For the Jonesophobic though they've been trained to smear and slur down anybody daring to acknowledge the existence of Alex Jones. Beave will require a fainting couch if anybody dares to admit they watched the video. So try this. If you're scared, don't listen but click it then mute it. Watch the video without sound. You should at least know who those guys in the background of the video are who were provoking the trouble at the capitol building. The provocateurs were not trump supporters. You can tell that by looking at them. They were there before Trump's speech was finished. They were there while Trump was speaking away from the Capitol building. Jones' opinion is they were a combination of Antifa/BLM and other anarcho-Marxists combined with Boogaloo Boy types and Qanon followers.

  19. Not going to happen...comparisons to the US will always dominate health care system discussions in Canada because it is in Canada's political and cultural DNA. The "American style" bogeyman is used to bludgeon any proposals for public/private solutions that would provide more capital spending and operating revenue despite other higher ranked nations doing exactly that (e.g. France).

  24. I don't think we need to do any of that to destroy our health care system. We've been destroying our health care system for years and Canadians haven't shown any interest, care or concern. We have way fewer doctors, nurses, hospital beds, diagnostic machines, ICU beds, etc. than other western countries, along with, of course, longer waiting lists, but Canadians couldn't care less. Health care isn't even raised as an issue during federal or provincial elections. No one gives a damn.

  26. That’s a total lie. Supporting peaceful protest and condemning violence isn’t the same as supporting violence Funny how the right-tards only understand that when their people are the ones committing the riots

  27. I dunno if you made that up or if you're quoting someone who's equally stupid but there wasn't a genocidal theocracy controlling a nation-sized land mass when Bush left office, aside from maybe Pakistan. Yeah you’re generally ignorant so I’m not surprised even though you’ve been informed of this already. Bush created Al Qaeda in Iraq and he released Al-Baghdadi from prison who took over, moved the group to Syria and then turned it into ISIS. At best a Obama could have kept the group contained in Syria although neither he nor his generals had the benefit of hindsight that we have.

  30. Signing an affidavit claiming you believe you saw a UFO won’t get you charged with perjury but that doesn’t mean it proves that aliens exist. Impeachment is an established legal means which the Republicans last ised whb Clintons lied about getting a blow job. It wasn’t sedition when it was used against Clinton and isn’t sedition when used against Trump’s obstruction of Justice. What Trump did was completely different because even after all his attempts though established authorities and mechanisms to dispute the election failed, he tried to pressure officials to throw out the results and install him in office anyway. If Trump hadn’t been such a complete fucking idiot he would have understood and expected that some of his followers would go that extent given all his dramatic and overheated rhetoric to describe his false claims and then going on about “showing strength”, “never backing down”, “trial by combat” and then telling them to march on the capitol

  31. That too. Everything Trump said was intended to overturn the result of an election that had been verified by officials, Democrat and Republican in every state after multiple recounts in several states, as well as scores of court decisions up to and including the SCOTUS.

  32. It wasn’t “3 full years” and there were riots under Trump also. There were terrorist attacks under Bush. You can’t even point to anything specific that Trump did to curb either. Your ridiculous cultist treatment of Trump as the rooster who deserves sole credit for the sun rising is as hilarious and pathetic as your treatment of Obama and Trudeau (and soon to be Biden) as the owls who are solely o blame for the sun setting. That was the inevitable result of Bush’s criminal invasion of Iraq and was predicted by everyone on the left back when Bush invaded in 2003 and promised it would be a peaceful liberation the troops would be home in a few months. The vile terrorist group Bush unleashed on the world evolved under the leadership of a terrorist that Bush released from US custody. Obama may mot have bern perfect cleaning up Bush’s mess with the benefit of hindsight but you when you Republicans set the whole damn house on fire and let the fire worsen for 6 years don’t get to criticize the firefighters who are sent to replace you. Again you can’t point to anything specific Trump did to defeat ISIS it was already in decline under pressure from Syrian, Turkish, Kurdish and Itaqi forces with US, Russian and international support Russia has always been a world-class douchebag. Nobody has done more to encourage and enable Russian aggression towards the West than Trump, an open admirer of Putin, whose staff admits they met with Russian agents to negotiate lifting sanctions in exchange for dirt on Hillary. Not sure what the “rocket man” refers to. False. During Obama’s last four years in office the average weekly earnings for production and nonsupervisory workers went up 4.9%. Over Obama’s entire two-term tenure, wages were up 4.2%. Wages have increased 2.4% since Trump took office (as of 2019) , Thank to state minimum wage increases that Republicans openly opposed For all wage earners: This growth reached 2.1% per annum in February 2019, prior to the pandemic. This is lower than the real wage increases of up to 2.4% that President Obama oversaw in 2015 Trump touted low-wage worker pay gains but much of the credit goes to state minimum wage hikes https://www.google.ca/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/4682939002 Agreed. Fortunately that demented criminal will be leaving office at noon on Jan 20, and possibly sooner.

  35. Trump went on for almost an hour and a quarter spewing lie after lie. There is plenty there that could be considered seditious or at the very least inciting a riot but I guess a court would have to decide that. I hope we get to find out.

  36. Best post I’ve read on here yet. I would add that the division of powers between the president, senate and house at the federal and state levels means America’s problems are largely unfixable even if a truly great once-in-a-generation leader were to be elected. And despite the 2-party system, the truth of the American system is that each of the 538 lawmakers in congress are independent political actors with their own private and local agendas. Furthermore Americas bureaucracy is seriously flawed in that so many federal state and local officials including judges, prosecutors and senior law enforcement are elected and therefore also independent political actors with their own agendas. This also includes obscure and mundane roles like county clerk and comptrollers who have no business being elected. This results in a public service that is more interested in favour-trading, influence-peddling, grandstanding and vote-chasing rather than policy development and program delivery.

  37. RDS-37...the Soviet Union's first two-stage hydrogen bomb. It used a weird core of U-233 & 235 with lithium deuteride for the fusion material. Inert material could be mixed-in with the lithium deuteride to adjust the maximum yield. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RDS-37 This was a big sucker for the time...3-4 megaton yield if ungoverned. The test was scaled down to 1.6 megatons...still a huge bang. A temperature inversion at the time had the unexpected effect of reflecting far more of the shockwave downward...causing much destruction around the test area...including deaths. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranium-233 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_hydride#Lithium_deuteride

  38. I saw a post from one today... disillusioned that Pence "back stabbed" their boy he said he was never going to vote again. These people were never interested in politics, which is the art of compromise in policy making. They were interested only in getting their way. Hopefully they'll go back to not participating which probably works best for everyone.
