  1. Great question, scribblet. I wish I had an answer for you but at every turn it is the whingers and whiners, those who eagerly embrace victim-hood, the spineless and all those who reject personal responsibility in favor of becoming one of the mindless herd who get the headlines and let's face it, it's only the headlines a lot of people pay attention to these days.

  2. This one adds an interesting perspective on why current polling might not be giving an accurate picture of what the American public is really thinking politically: More Evidence That Trump’s Silent Majority Is Real New poll says moderates and conservatives are genuinely afraid to discuss their politics. A poll speaking against polls. That's fun. Oh and WestCanMan man, here's a suggestion. You might try what some on the classic liberal left call those who self-identify as something they call "Progressive." The Regressive Left.

  3. I'm a huge fan of Dr Lewis. She's a bit of an over-emoter at times, and I'm not a fan of that aspect of her persona, but she's very intelligent, insightful, and she's in a position where she can tell serious truths which 'old white guys' can't. The Twitter campaign of "crackas is gilty of slavery n sisstemik rasism #imonlyaloserbecauseoftheGOP" shtick, mainly based in the US, has effectively been a pre-emptive strike on factual, pertinent & intelligent dialogue coming from the mouths of white people. "A cracka said it, thats alla proof ya need ta no that its a lowdown dirty lie!!!! #givememoney". FWIW I don't believe that we need to put a black woman in charge to balance out the 'white guy' thing. Most of the black women in US politics are disgusting & foolish and I'd sell my house to aid in a campaign against Maxine Watters. I believe that Dr Lewis (like Candace Owens) is a person who can stand with anyone on her own merits though, and that she would be a good leader in any day and age.

  4. I hate that the MSM allows them to give fake apologies for minor things that they didn't really do and then they just leave it to stand as if it's the apology that Canadians deserve and that there's nothing left to see here now. Trudeau basically says: 1) "I merely failed to recuse myself from the choice to select We, which was an obvious choice anyways. I apologize for not recusing myself.2) I also apologize to my mom for getting her caught up in this. I'm such a great guy, look at me taking the heat for my dear mother." 1) There's no mere 'failure to recuse' here: https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/trudeau-government-contributed-1-18-million-to-we-day-event-in-2017-during-which-pms-mother-was-likely-paid-to-speak The way this article is framed, Trudeau solicited We to host an event, gave them federal money, his mom spoke at that event, and we know that We gave her over $200K for her speaking engagements. Whether or not she made gobs of money at that exact event isn't made clear by the article, but just because they may have found a roundabout way of lining her pockets, she made an average amount for speaking at We and that amount applies to this appearance because the fact is that Margaret Trudeau doesn't appear to have done this for charity's sake. 2) Trudeau didn't bring his mom into this at all if his story is true. She's the one who raked in gobs of money and then didn't tell her son about it. She apparently kept this a secret from him and left him exposed to a direct scandal involving federal money, allotted directly from the PM's own seal, going through a 'charity' to his own family members. His mom submarined him. She couldn't have done him any dirtier if she was an agent of the Conservative party. 3) Did he apologize for giving federal money to a 'charity' that's (buying up large tracts of land and) making propaganda videos that would make Kim Jong-Un blush for the PM personally? I don't remember that being part of his apology. That reeks of 'taxpayer money for campaign donations'. Because it is. Just like the $695M to CBC was, and just like the $600M to 'select' media outlets was. This new part about the $900M drew attention to his real scandals which we just didn't know about. Even if this $900M fiasco never happened, Trudeau already did enough to disqualify himself from ever being in a position where he could be trusted to hold a public office again. The question is, did he already know that he was screwed and this was just his last hurrah, to get We one last massive payment before he was finally caught? How much did his mom and brother and wife stand to make from this gigantic golden egg? Will Trudeau just make another fake apology and resign now, so that he can keep his rep and keep doing speaking engagements until he can weasel himself into the UN or something?

  5. She was chosen because she has a vagina, is bilingual, and was an astronaut which apparently Canadians make a big deal about. Apparently nobody cared to check if she was bat-sh!t crazy.

  7. Stormtroopers huh? Wow you really are tilting at windmills. I agree that linguistic acrobatics won't save you from the angry mob, just as it didn't save the intellectuals from the Bolsheviks. However, don't assume that you qualify as woke or worthy of protection. Liberals are co-opted until power is secured. Then they are declared counter-revolutionary. It's happened many times in history. People may not realize it until it's too late due to wishful thinking and naivety.

  8. You know exactly what I meant by my every statement but are seizing on some fine point to parse out that doesn't change the main point I am making, which is that mainstream society is being duped by radicals who aren't as interested in equality as their own radical agenda that most people, if they knew the facts, would never support. Enough people have been co-opted to give that scary cause wings.

  9. That the shutdown has proven is that eating out regularly is an incredible waste of money. It should be a treat. When you can't go out and drink every weekend, you quickly find out that you have lots of money available for other things. As for the alcohol thing in the OP. It's completely unenforceable. If we know one thing about alcoholics, they will find a way to get their fix. There'll be a huge industry in fake licences. And a black market to sell to people who can't get a license.

  10. I'm sorry you are unemployed, and hope you can become re-employed soon. In the meantime, as an employed person, I'm happy that my tax dollars can help you at a time that its needed. I don't care if you use that money to buy smokes, pay for your cell phone, your internet, your pet's food, your data plan, your car loan - any and all the 'luxuries' so many people think poor, non-working people shouldn't have.

  11. We have made great economic and educational sacrifices to open up while protecting public health. We have to make sure that our sacrifices aren't in vain and that we don't create bigger problems down the road by satisfying a lower priority need today. Expand the patios for restaurants and bars. Allow indoor restaurants with careful distancing, but indoor bars have had a large influence on the out of control spreads we see in Florida and Texas. Follow the science.

  12. I work as a chef in a pub. We were actually busier when we were locked down and doing take aways only. We have only opened two days a week for food and are just losing money. Pre-covid Sunday lunch was 70-100 covers. During lockdown we were doing 45-50 take aways. Today we did 26 and only 10 of them ate in. The rush to open everything back up is pointless until confidence returns.

  13. You don't get it. If major outbreaks happen, everything shuts down again. Let the bars expand their patios into the streets, but indoor bars are risky.

  14. You can't force anyone to know or care who Nick Cannon is. But it's as prominent a story as any rational person would expect. Actually, more so, as it is much more prominent than you're letting on.

  15. Book burnings are next. Renaming and pulling Statues of Winston Churchill is a step too far, no doubt most people harboured those thoughts in those days, but their greater good outweighs that. This has to stop, but how?

  16. Complete nonsense. Nobody is denying racism in Canada. They're just denying the significance of it. Like it or not, Canada just isn't that racist. Regardless, racism occurs everywhere in the world that humans exist. Furthermore, there's no evidence that racism was to blame for George Floyd, considering white people have been killed in the same way. Bad policing practices is most likely to blame. In order to prove racism, one must be able to read the minds of the officers involved. However, if somebody finds Canada uncomfortable to live in, nobody is forced to live here. They're free to move to another country in the world where they'd be better off.

  17. AND WE HAVE SOME WINNERS! Denial of racism among Canadians. Denial of racism among Canadian police. Denial of racism in the death of George Floyd. 4 MLW is STILL the racist winner of Canadian discussion boards! Cue the deniers Q? If white supremacists truly believe in the supremacy of the white race, the dangers of inter-mingling races, the threats of multiculturalism to the white race ... why do they deny their own racism? Do they not have faith in their own ideology? Always a mystery!
