Quebec’s daily death total now exceeds New York. Great job Trudeau.1 point

What to expect from a man that says "STAY HOME" and then go on vacation at his chalet later on. He is doing exactly what he is asking us to avoid. No, he is not only asking, we can be fined for that. Trudeau is an imbecile and no one can argue against that.1 point

I love Hakka which is on the border with India so it uses a lot of hot pepper. Now I doubt my wife will ever let me eat anything Chinese. I thought it was spicy beef. Rat, cat, bat, disappeared Hong Kong dissident...could have been any of those... the Jains are right we should stay away from meat..except now I have a sudden craving for smoked meat..actually since this lock down I eat only fish and chicken. I swim better and I was always a peckerhead.1 point

I'm not pretending to know the exact mortality rate. We can't possibly know it until we figure out how many people were infected. Deaths per TOTAL NUMBER OF INFECTED PEOPLE is the stat we need. Until we find out what people developed antibodoes for it we won't know hw many were actually infected. Deaths per confirmed cases is a misleading stat. Stop putting my name on your panties or I'll get another restraining order.1 point

I just ordered Chinese take-out. Thanks for the tip.1 point

No. Military intelligence is often wrong, compromised, misleading, you can't always take decisive action on it. There probably would have been a nuclear war with Russia by now if everything was taken as gospel truth. People can't even come to an agreement on what the mortality rate is after the virus has been here for two months. There may be several x as many people infected as originally thought, putting the death rate down with the seasonal flu. Still don't know yet.1 point

The Times of Israel is a reputable newspaper but there’s very little detail in this claim. As has been noted, the retrospectoscope gives a distorted view of events. If true, this was one piece of info from thousands to be assessed with no red line under it indicating how important it would become.1 point

You could be right, we'll never know. He took the heat for it though, at the start when it was panned as racist by the Dems/American MSM/the WHO/Trudeau, so now that people like Biden are lying and saying that they initially supported it he should get his share of credit too. Agreed. It's sad to see how many of our leaders are fumbling their way through this. A lot of blame should go to the WHO for literally giving all of the wrong advice at the start, but In Canada it's a disgrace that we don't have an actual medical professional closer to the top of the heap. Our graphics designer was way out of her depth, mismanaging an actual pandemic.1 point

No. Think about it. You do not get a black and white report. It comes in many forms triggering a myriad of issues to be dealt with. Crisis management is about having to take numerous conflicting and competing issues and trying to juggle them all.1 point

You serious? When.. where.. who ..how many could or would,or will be impacted... how to identify and track the virus..how do we prevent panic...how do we manage it.. which sectors are priority 1, doctors, military, security, politicians...what medicines and equipment do we need..how do we shut down travel, people 's movement...who makes the announcements, how do we liaise with doctors and hospitals and governments..on and on...blood supply...medical equipment supply... impacts from economic shut down ..managing surge in debt, bank rates, stock market instability, management of viruses in prisons, schools, managing essential services..you really need to ask?1 point

Fish are smarter when they're on their own so that's when you use hooks lines and sinkers to catch them. When you're after the whole school at once you use a big net. Oddly enough when they come in big schools they often get stupider so they're easier to catch. Seriously though this virus couldn't have picked a better time to emerge. It's almost like it knew.1 point

Given the antiquated nature of the US judicial system (no worse than ours) compelling anything from the administration is seen as a waste of time. It will take six months or more to run through all the court appeals just to find out what he had for breakfast. I don't think the US has ever seen an administration as obstructionist towards congress and its oversight role as this one.1 point

You're nitpicking. The migrants who crossed Europe and headed for Sweden were not 'immigrants' in the formal sense. They didn't apply. They didn't fill out forms. They simply went, just like the ones who show up at our border. An immigrant is someone who applies to come, and is accepted.1 point

From all reports, the only intelligence failures were the failure of the intelligence of western idiot leaders like Trump and Trudeau to pay any attention to what their intelligence agencies were telling them.1 point

If you live in a democracy, the system allows us to choose the social platforms the candidates offer. We can choose the candidate that represents our values. In that sense, yes we do have the right to enforce our values (through people we elect as leaders) ......same as you have your right to do the same.1 point

No, I don’t speak French fluently but I’m not running to lead a major political party in Canada any time soon. I gave you multiple examples of ordinary people who have mastered other languages that are completely unrelated to each other, unlike English and French. Another friend of mine, middle-aged, has learned German and Italian from scratch over the last fifteen years through evening classes (while performing a highly onerous job during the day) and gives medical lectures in these languages. Now he’s learning Arabic. My best friend immigrated to Canada the same time I did and put his four girls in a French-speaking school in Ontario. One went on to earn a degree in France and worked for a French-speaking organization in Ontario. Another translates scientific papers into French and English. At least Harper made an effort to improve. These are political animals; they’ve been dreaming of running the country before they became MPs and they must have known this might come up if things worked out for them. At the very least, I would say ’could try harder’. I’m not expecting perfect Jean Charest fluency here - a heavy accent would be fine as long as they can understand and answer questions.1 point

Here it is again for you: Debate is more successful if all the debaters have some grasp of logic. Religious people rarely do, as their entire goal is to protect God and that requires a great deal of illogical and sometimes even delusional thinking. Ok, I gotcha. Any debate about God/religion is an abject failure unless both parties are atheists. Now it makes perfect sense, thanks for the clarification.1 point

Denmark is doing it phases. That’s not laissez faire either. Nobody in this discussion, or in Canada or the United States is suggesting laissez faire. Stop the lying already.1 point

Didn't say they weren't "allowed" to debate. But I ought to have specified "about religion/God" for the context-challenged among us ...1 point

I cannot wait to see Trump and Biden go head to head on TV. Trump will chew Biden up and spit him out with ease. Christ, Biden hardly can speak nor knows most of the time as to what he is trying to say. Why did the demonrats want to have this guy be their #1 man for them in the hopes that he will be the next President? Forgetful Joe does not stand a chance against Trump. Trump may even try and be funny with Biden, and ask old Biden as to what state is he in and Biden will probably say that he is in the state of panic. Cuomo and Newsom are full blown liars and idiots. But what else can one expect from a demonrat? That is all they know how to do is lie like hell all the time.1 point

I'm thinking longer term....the international travel free-for-all will have to be reigned in with screenings, restrictions, and surveillance testing. Trump predicted the future with more travel bans for entirely different reasons. Lock down travel from any hotspot nation, including the United States. https://flightaware.com/live/ Canada is already moving on this.... https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/non-medical-face-masks-travel-1.55367021 point

I agree that China is very ruthless and dangerous. They spy on their own people, even in other countries. If you're Chinese and have a big mouth against China, I-CHING, you are gone. Or maybe your family, or both. Suffice to say if China knew who we are here, we would have to watch what we say or they will come after you. For you know what they say, beware the yellow man he hath no soul. This is for real kids. Not a drill, not a video game. There is no re-spawn mode, in the real world.1 point

And how is your stock 'Canada's just as bad' arguments using facts? That certainly has been a factor in Canadian foreign policy in recent times, i.e. Canada jumping on the Guiado bandwagon in Venezuela because Canadian-based mining companies want to exploit the southern region along the Amazon Valley. But, if it goes back to Vietnam in fact, why was the Canadian Government following an antiwar track? Weapons makers and other business interests didn't have as much political influence back then? No argument here! The "you better watch out for my big friend here" Canadian foreign policy in the post-cold war era, makes me totally sick and feel like flying the flag upside down! Along a similar theme as above, your Democrats and faux Trump opposition in the Republican Party and all across MSM play the same game of decrying and lamenting Trump's statements and actions....while quietly signing on and making sure Congress approves and forwards the money in their budgets.1 point

If parents need help then fining them is, irrational, whenever they simply need help. Yes. It would be ridiculous to fine a parent who has broken no, laws, during a time they were without food to feed their kids.1 point
