  1. Supposedly now we have a number of different programs designed to help those who lost their jobs in the pandemic. You've got the EI, the $2,000/month whatever program, the mortgage payment deferral program, the Wage subsidy program, the Small Employer interest free loan program and God knows what else is going on. Well, here is the question. What about us who still go to work and risk our lives, sometimes to make less than $2,000/month? Something is wrong with this picture. I do not mind people receiving help payments; I just think that all those who still work need to be receiving some sort of bonuses too. Otherwise we look stupid we still show up for work! On the wage subsidy side I also do not want to see myself paying 75% of someone's wages, if this someone is working full time to generate profit for a private entity! This program , in my view, creates an opportunity for gross abuse of taxpayer money. But at the end of the day, it is probably not my money they will be using, but money they will print; just paper or digitally created numbers.

  2. I'm beginning to get some insight into holocaust denial and 911 truthers in this thread. Where people can simply ignore what's right in front of their faces because they don't want to accept it I suppose it makes sense that over the passage of years it's even easy to ignore and wave away evidence of a historical nature.

  3. Why? Why do you want to steal other people's money? I suggest getting off your lazy bum and making your own money.

  4. Start with Army Guy. For me I need specific programs to deal with damage to the economy, preventing future pandemics, requiring specific products be made and stored in Canada for pandemic planning and review of free trade agreements that make us too dependent on foreign supplies. I need specific policies on pipelines, energy, health control at borders and banning of certain meat products and countries if they do not change wet market conditions. I also want relations with China reviewed and a demand the UN sanction China for illegally arresting Canadians and stop paying the UN dues until it does. I want immigrants coming to Canada to have better working and language skills and be required to intern as prospective immigrants in smaller cities that need them and I want the refugee system scrapped and replaced by foreign aid to refugee camps. I want a review to end to all redundant government services that could be done provincially. I want Griphen fighter jets, a new navy and coast guard, an end to the Senate and decriminalization of euthanasia. I also want Michael Harder arrested for being obscene. Also I want Lavalin held accountable . Thank you.

  5. How can an explosion take place when nothing is there to explode from? How can anything start from nothing? It is impossible. No one can create something from nothing. The only thing that I can come up with here is that all of this that we see around us today was created and started up by some God like figure by him turning on his computer and then start to create this worldly program that we all find ourselves living in today. Maybe we are all just a part of some computer program and we are all just made up characters in this game of life where we can be easily deleted by God touching the delete key on his computer. Hey, you never know, eh? Just like your own computer. If you just let it sit there and look at it nothing will happen. But when one turns their computer on, voila, the computer comes to life and we can then do whatever we want to do with it. We can even create our own programs for our pleasure . But for anyone to believe that all of sudden this world and all the planets in the universe just magically started up from nothing needs to think twice about that one. Hey, you never know, eh? As Capt. Jean Luc Picard of the Starship Enterprise once said in one of his TV series shows said that maybe we could all be just characters in this game of life. It all feels and looks very real but it is all just a created program by some unknown being. Hey you never know, eh? Aw well, sadly we will never know as to what the hell we are all doing here and probably never will learn. No one has ever come back from the dead after they died to tell us anything. Are we just deleted or recycled and turned into some other life forum. Who knows. But I sure as hell hope that I do not come back as one of those bugs in Africa that likes to go thru elephant shit to find something to eat in it. Now that would turn out to be such a shitty deal for anyone. Just saying. Lol.

  6. I doubt it's on the menu, but if money is created now out of thin air, it is presumed that economic growth will reabsorb that new money in the future. So, this is essentially mortgaging the future. If the future can't pay of its debts, then what! It would be nice if we emerge from the crisis with a new attitude about focusing on things that are important, and cast off a lot of the garbage that's being subsidized right now.....starting with Agribusiness- producing poor quality food by dumping toxic amounts of chemical fertilizers on fields planted with GMO seeds...at least half of it to feed caged livestock kept in sickening depraved conditions to provide us cheap meat! Cruise ships come to mind as a totally useless subsidized industry...which are toxic on so many levels....dumping wastes and polluting coastal waters, third world registrations - let Liberia support them, and exploiting cheap third world labor. And then there's the airlines....the industry receives enough subsidies already! A lot of crap consumer products that are sold by aggressive mind-warping advertising and marketing campaigns. Hopefully the future world will be simpler, less polluting and less of a demand on resources, so more than one or two generations can survive! As for me, I'm surprised my place of work was classed as "essential" so I'm still going to work.....for now at least!

  7. Communism is evil. So, I worked hard and saved but because you didn't, I have to give you mine... sure, let's all be equally poor. our system has a social safety net for those in need, we don't need to confiscate other people's money.

  8. How do I know what my actual needs are? I might be dead at 60. I might live to 90. If I don't know how much I need, you certainly don't. And I might point out, if I know the government is going to steal my money over a certain level I will begin to work less so as to not go over this level. So will most others. That leads to a downfall in productivity and less money for the government. Just about the only acceptable reason would be physical or mental disability. Dropping out of high school to play video games and then working at scut work for the next ten years doesn't qualify.

  9. Liberal billionaires like Buffet, Soros and Gates, care about image and PR above all else! They want to be highly esteemed and admired by the plebes. Buffett makes the occasional comment feigning concern for working class: musing about how his tax rate is less than his secretary's...doesn't do anything about it, so who gives a shit! Soros made most of his fortune through arbitrage...destroying currency values, starting with the British Pound. Gets treated as liberal hero for sponsoring liberals who don't challenge capitalism or western imperialism. Stupidest thing rightwingers always have to say about Soros, is calling him a communist or a leftist. Do some reading and do some research! Gates is pushing himself as a vaccine creator, and even if he does put his own money rather than the usual tax dodge and demands for matching government funding, it doesn't mask the fact that he's built up a multibillion dollar empire through stealing other people's ideas and setting up monopolies.

  10. No, Jesus did not advocate killing Queers. Hatred was not central to his philosophy, nor was a sense of I being a Superior Man. From whence came the notion one race was superior? Could it be... the Master Race? Your persistence to interject and defend what are essentially the very foundations of Nazism in thought is both baffling, and off topic. I suggest we no longer continue this, as you are interrupting important discussion here, with your off-topic banter. Let us agree to cease and persist. Yield. Yield I say.

  12. I suppose you are right, but I'm not talking about prehistory here. Who knows what those people cared about or what came of them. We know that the Sumerians and Babylonians were the foundations for our life today.

  13. No one has anything solely due to their own efforts. You have gotten so much in your life already that you don't 'deserve'. Do you even deserve to be alive right now? Did you do something to deserve that more than the next person who died yesterday? Are you just too good to die? It is not a problem to leave your property to your heirs. It is a problem to hoard money. Money should be spent as one gathers it, more or less, and a good portion of the money should be given to those who need it.

  14. The Centrist Party Platform is contradictory when it comes to the environment vs birthrate. At a time when we need to be reducing population, you want to increase it. Nuclear power is vital, but while climate change is the most serious problem we have faced, there are a lot of other forms of pollution. Look at the clear cutting of BC forests. The role of Government has gone from Peace Order and Good Government to job creation. The economy has been warped to try and create jobs for our excess population.

  15. It just sounds to me like you're trying to change the party's position on things, to promote your own uber-progressive views. It's evident too in your offer to join, if they change their views to yours. Even more ludicrous than suggesting they change their name, but at least I'm kidding.

  16. Centrist implies your party will be more neutral. But on certain things, you have to take a position. We like to divide things by left/right but maybe that paradigm is no longer helpful. I think an important question people are going to ask is, why should we need another party, and what do you have to offer that makes you different. Generally the first questions to be answered are "Who Are We?" and what can we do, what can we offer. That should be the flow of information to users who come to the website. Your site is pretty good, has a lot of info but does it work for someone who has never been there before, never heard of you. Keep in mind it's almost a miracle to get people to click a link to even bother to look at your site. You have about 10 seconds to say something, and then 'click'...they are gone. So instead of the big logo I would make it smaller, and have some words there immediately to say such basic things as 'Who Are We.' Cheers

  17. We are seeing an interest in the "return to yesteryear" on a lot of things lately, in particular de-globalization and the return of production of goods in our country. "Progress" is just an idea, not always good and not always bad. It needs to be tempered with wisdom to be good. Sometimes returning to yesteryear may not be the wrong thing to do. Things need to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Not your simply dismissive "oh look, a return to yesteryear".

  18. The health workers on the ground always do their best with what they have, any time of the year. They are short-changed by your precious province, which comes from the Fed. But to be clear: None of the hospitals in Canada are facing high volume of people who are seriously ill. If that happened, we would be in the same boat as Italy since the health care system is nearly equally overloaded. The hospitals in our region had to clear out and rearrange their floor plan to make a new wing to hold the anticipated volume of infected cases. As you know elective procedures have been put on hold, including organ transplants where the individual can wait. Today that wing is empty. Not quite- there is one person in it, and I hear she is fine. I hear there are about 53 infection cases here in eastern ON. Wait, let me clarify that little number too. 53 cases have been recorded since this all began. Well over half of them are recovered, the remainder are in self-quarantine. For that we have stopped the country? It's ludicrous. Ludicrous I say. A more selective isolation schema is becoming clearly evident. Who will be the first leader to pronounce the situation is "good enough", let's get back to work? Mr. Trudeau says we just have to stay shut down for a year. He didn't mention to Canadians, expect suicide to be on the rise.

  22. By its very nature, an inheritance is NOT money or property you worked for! If it's a small inheritance, an inheritance tax after the first 100 or $200,000 that's progressive and takes higher percentages when we get to million and multimillion dollar inheritances is only fair! Because allowing the rich to pass on all of their ill-gotten accumulated wealth to their heirs is aristocracy/not democracy of any kind!

  25. I think the biggest thing to come from all of this will be changes to the subway systems and other mass transit and aviation systems worldwide. I think that masks are going to become far more popular than ever, there may be mandatory hand-sanitizing at entrance points to transit stations and airports, more focus on air filtration or exhaust systems within subway trains and planes, maybe UV lighting (which kills germs) instead of normal lighting, etc. Airports already employ TIC cameras that monitor people's body temperature to detect people with fevers, I wouldn't be surprised to see that kind of thing creep into some subway systems worldwide as well. Right now there's nothing stopping someone with a fever from getting on the subway, I think that may be a thing of the past. Up until now the world was very slob-friendly, I think the new normal will be more OCD-friendly. I may not be able to adapt.

  27. You can be sure there'll be lots of think tanks and commissions and inquiries all around the planet analyzing everything they can once they have time and data to work with. I'd be very surprised if there isn't a lot of quantification of the questions surrounding flight/travel bans, timing, execution and whole array of related issues. I'm quite certain many will come up with conclusions that prompt you to ask "Yeah well, how do they know?" The politicization of events in the absence of answers that can't be answered now will be nothing compared to the politicization of answers that can and will be answered in the future. I mean good grief never mind answers...we can probably come up with a couple of dozen questions that will be so political they won't be touched with a...6 foot pole.

  28. These things are almost impossible to quantify. Trump says that millions of lives were saved by the Chinese travel ban, he could be right, and it could be almost zero. If there were already 100 people in NYC riding the subway every day with covid on Jan 31st that would have been enough to saturate the whole system within a couple weeks regardless of what happened with flights from China. How will we ever know? Most people don't get tested, and if they do, how do we know when they got it (relative to the time when social distancing guidelines became common) or how long they were contagious for? If there were 2 or 3 people who rode the subway once or twice a week on Jan 31st and the travel ban prevented 200 people with covid from getting on that subway then he certainly did save a lot of people there, but again, how will we know? What if 3 slobs got it? What if 3 OCD people somehow got it? There's a huge difference in how many people those groups would infect, based on how often they wash their hands and flick boogers. 6 people is an incredibly small sample size, but 6 people on the subway in NYC with a disease as infectious as covid could create a massive sample size. What if one person with allergies got it, and sneezed a few times on the subway? Watch this for nightmares: I think that NYC was screwed no matter what, but if Trump did save lives they were probably in middle and small-town America, where it would take longer to arrive and where they would need far more infected people to spread the virus than in NYC. Can we get an accurate guesstimate of how quickly Chinese travellers would get covid to Branson Missouri or Missoula Montana? Flin Flon MB? Do we even know how long it takes people who get infected to become contagious? Is it the same length of time for all types of people with higher or lower metabolism, stronger immune systems, etc? Do some people stay contagious far longer than others? And if there is data to come out, what are the chances that it is unbiased? Will it come from CBC or CNN's trusted sources? I can already tell you what it will say. Will it come from Fox News's trusted sources? I can already tell you what it will say. If a stat comes out of Berkeley, the Alma Mater of Dr. Ford, it's not worth a pinch of infectious batshit. Hillary had a 92% chance of winning the 2016 election by the latest poll results, right before the election. Shouldn't that be something that statisticians can get right in this day and age? No one can agree on anything in 2020 even if they see the video themselves, and 92.6378965326% of stats are bullshit. I see stats as a chance for more division. Russia and China are already working on conflicting stats to release as we speak.

  29. No, I don't think that's true. I think that, like the OP, all you want to do is attack western society. But the basis of that attack seems to me that western societies are imperfect, are flawed. No one has ever suggested otherwise, however, merely that they're better than any others. And unless you can demonstrate others which are better, which are more equal, which care for the down and out more, then you're argument, like that of the OP, is entirely spurious.

  30. No, Canada is responsible for its own borders and screening, which was found to be very lacking at the border and at airports. Freeland had to beg Trump for more 3M masks.
