  2. Women in Western countries have a LOT more recourse when they are raped than those in Islamic countries. Yes, sometimes it's difficult to feel that full justice has been done. But at least women who are raped in Western countries have access to police and legal teams. They have access to counselling and medical assistance after being raped. They do not have to marry their rapist. They are not honour killed by their families for being raped. Western communities do not stone women who get raped. Children who are raped are not considered "unmarriageable" for the rest of their lives. What kind of person are you who romanticizes Islamic society so much that you do not see the difference?

  3. So Meghan Murphy gave a talk at a Toronto Library yesterday. And in this talk she said nothing more than 90% of Canadians wouldn't fully agree with. Men are men. Women are women. If you have a penis you're a man. It's unfair for men to intrude in womens spaces and sports, regardless of what they believe their gender is or ought to be. But the howling mobs of the left can't tolerate that sort of thing. That's heresy to them. They tried very hard to get the talk shut down, and in the end resorted to swarming around it like a drooling mob of cavemen grunting and shrieking and pounding their chests. Murphy was turned down by seven other venues, all afraid of the mobs of cretins which inevitably follow anyone who dares to blaspheme against their sacred truths. And yet she had nothing extreme to say, nothing which varied much from the mainstream. We are letting our speech, both in person and on-line, be governed by the intolerant religious fanatics who make up the Left today. People restrict their speech, or venues restrict it or social media restricts it, out of fear of violence from the loonies of the Left. The Left has always been good at pretending a higher morality to their positions, and now they've come to imbue it with a religious devotion which beggars belief. If you dare to contradict it they'll swarm around you, on social media or in person, chanting their sacred words "Bigot! Nazi! Transphobe! Islamophobe! Racist!" Political discourse is becoming more toxic as the Left become more religious about their views and wall off subject after subject as forbidden. Much like Muslims whose sacred texts were last interpreted centuries ago, and who regard any variance from those interpretations as blaspheme, the Left seeks to bully and intimidate any who disagree with them by shouting them down and de-platforming them. Every inch they get they push for more, and I think people need to start pushing back. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50214341

  4. You give Islam a pass with statements like you and Jacee make - that rape and the consequences of rape are the same in both societies and imply that Western society is just as bad. They are not. They are vastly different

  7. Pretty hard to make a charge of rape in a Muslim country because it requires the testimony of four male eyewitnesses, one of the reasons why rape happens in Islamic countries. There is a directive of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in Pakistan that schoolgirls cover up in order to prevent “unethical incidents” which is also similar to Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei who said n 2018 that Islam holds the answer to the problems of sexual mistreatment of women in Western societies. If women were to wear the hijab, he argued, they would be spared such depraved behavior.

  8. I'm struggling to comprehend what the ardent defenders of Islam are trying to establish with all this stuff about rape. There is simply no argument that women who are sexually harassed/assaulted in Western countries are fantastically better served by government agencies and public/social views than in Islamic countries. The former face incredible danger if they even dare to report their rape - from their own families. They could be shunned or even killed for damaging the family's honor. Their claims are unlikely to be taken seriously by the authorities, and they're likely to have to face harsh interviewing from men untrained in sexual assault investigations. That's presuming their country doesn't operate on the Islamic rule which says that in law a woman's worth is only one quarter that of a man's. If that's the case then her word means essentially nothing unless she can find male witnesses to the rape willing to testify. I recall the teenage girl in Iran who got pregnant after her uncle raped her. She told this to the authorities, but since her word was only one quarter his all they did was treat it as a confession that she had sex with her uncle - a married man - and promptly executed her. Oh, it was rape? Says who? Sorry, no male witnesses? Then death to you. If anything, the insistence on trying to, by torturous logic, insinuate that sexual assault on women is in any way treated equivalent to that in Muslim countries, or that we even know the rate in Muslim countries, is evidence of the deep-seated fanaticism of the Left which I mentioned in the opening post. They simply cannot bring themselves to accept any criticism of Islam or Islamic countries because the 'religion' of the Left has come to be anti-racism, and they see any and all criticism of minority identity groups as racist. The fact that Muslims are not at all a minority in the world is irrelevant to them. They're a minority here, and therefore any criticism of the culture or values of the world's 1.5 billion Muslims has to be fought. Their thinking goes no deeper than this. Which is what you typically see in religious fanatics.

  11. So? there are 40,000,000 people in Canada. Find the stat for the number of women raped for not wearing a hijab in Pakistan or Afghanistan. Guess what? There isn't one for two reasons: 1) no sense in reporting it because you'll just get laughed at 2) no one is dumb enough to walk around in those countries without one. A personal acquaintance who lived in Afghanistan told me that where the Taliban are in control you can't even have your windows open if there's a woman not in a hijab.

  19. It's alarming that you would even think that way. I've been married for fifteen years and never felt even a bit rapy towards my wife. I've never forced any of my girlfriends or any girls that I went on dates with to have sex either. Admittedly I haven't committed any rapes against members of the general public either, so it's kind of a 0-0 tie, but in my lifetime I know of far more women who were raped by random men than by their partners. Also, "rape" within a relationship usually involves a man "moving the goalposts", so to speak. IE, going to the next base. It's still a sexual assault, but it's not to be confused with a total stranger grabbing a woman who doesn't even want to have an intimate conversation with them and forcing them to do all kinds of things, including some that they would never consent to with anyone at all, even their partners.

  20. There is no such thing as interviewing a terrorist to find out if they are one and certainly the IDF does not rely on it and never has. What happened on this forum was a discussion about screening prospective immigrants to determine if they would have compatible Canadian values. It was pointed out in regards to that suggestion if you ask people questions in an interview about their "values": 1-trying to determine what questions to ask would soon break down as no one can agree what Canadian values are let alone what questions about such values would be relevant; 2-anyone can prep answers; 3-there is no accurate lie detection method-lie detection picks up when someone's heart beat suddenly changes when asked a question-this method assumes the person is lying if their heart rate goes up but heart rate can also go up if the person feels threatened by the questioner, has had too much coffee, is worried about his answer not pleasing the questioner, etc.; 4-just because someone believes in Canadian values or says they do won't necessarily make them go on to conform to these values; 5-psychometric testing can't definitely say you have any kind of Canadian values-they can at best point out repeating patterns of mannerisms, or behaviours, or repeating choices of references and then through questioning other than asking about Canadian values, come up with a general guideline as to the person's personality but even personality types are not absolute in that people have many personality traits from different groups, just some are more dominant and in fact each personality is as unique as a snowflake or fingerprint and personalities and predicating whether someone will then be a good Canadian can not happen, its not designed nor can it be designed to test for that. Now this new thread says we should interview terrorists or screen for them. Easy to say, but how....that is the question. When trying to look for terrorists of course asking them questions is NOT and could not be effective by itself. To detect whether someone is a terrorist, one has to use specific forensic techniques to detect certain kinds of behavioural tendencies and they are never absolutely reliable. These screening techniques constantly change because all counter-intelligence techniques have an expiry date-once they are used its only a matter of time until they are detected and therefore someone can then learn to manipulate them and so as a precaution must be expired before that familiarity might kick in. The kind of profiling Israel does or the British did in Northern Ireland or some other nations have done faced with terrorism was not simply sitting down with someone and saying hello Abdul do you hate Jews...do you hate Wasps...how do you feel about multiple wiives Abdul. A lot of people who puff themselves up in interviews are harmless and simply over-compensating to make up for the fact they are in fact jello. The phenomena of people turning themselves in to confess to murders they never did is a variation of this. Israeli counter intelligence works as a general rule where there is a connection between the person being observed and a terrorist organization or exremists through some past event or incident that was recorded. No Israeli expert can guarantee you they can catch a terrorist who has never had a connection to a terror organization or associated with known extremists and already been put on their radar so to speak. Counter intelligence is about building up a history on someone you noticed in the past and recorded , not someone out of the blue. This is why lone wolf terrorists with no connections can escape detection. Further the kind of techniques used to look for a potential terrorist in a crowd is completely different than trying to screen someone one at a time-you can't use it in a room with one person. The reality is the best detector is one's own gut in any situation and even then you might be wrong or right. So I second your comments as would most soldiers. They wish detection of terrorists was that easy. Trying to pick someone out of a crowd or on the street is not something one does easily. Its why soldiers and police are always second guessed.

  21. Read the post I just wrote above this one. If you can understand it then you'll come to the stark realization that talking about the relative amounts of activity in each of our brains is not a flattering topic for you. It's completely idiotic to say that there's even a hint of inaccuracy in the claim that I made. And I know that you're not doing it out of stupidity because no one is that dumb, you're doing it to be difficult because of your ignorance and bigotry. Once again, I have ample proof of your bigotry if you want to call me out on it.

  22. I was not addressing that at all. I was only addressing WestCanMan's ridiculously brain dead and delusional claim: There are tens of millions of muslim women living in the western world and they get the full protection of the government, and they don't get threatened with impunity, and they NEVER EVER get raped with impunity. Who the hell could possibly believe that! It's an absolutely stunningly dense claim. WestCanMan's posts are forever ridiculous to me now.

  23. Not that in any way this is relevant to this topic but is just my own personal experience. I had a German girl friend several years ago. She used to tell me that it is not fair for her generation to take burden of responsibility for what their grandparents and forefathers did more than 70 years ago. In a sense I share her sentiment that the new generation of Germans cannot be blamed for what has already happened. Nevertheless the atrocities of 1930’s are monumental moments in history that must not be forgotten. Never again

  25. It's real easy for those who grew up and raised in decent families who become terrorists to tell foreign terrorists how to pass these interviews and sound like they are the more Canadian than most Canadians. Not saying interviews are useless, just pointing out that many people posting in this thread seem to have far more faith in them than is warranted. It's really not that hard to game the process as people seem to think, the Army Guy theory that these problems are easy to fix, the government just needs to care, is a drastic overestimation of the governments abilities.

  26. I have a Jewish aunt by marriage that was aboard the MS St Louis. She ended-up in France and apparently got aboard the final ship out to the USA before Case Yellow started. She made it to NYC and still lives their to this day. There are many video recordings of her telling her experiences, already. Plus she does things for local schools in that regard. But, she's getting very old. A notable thing she did...other than survive...was act as a consultant for the movie Voyage of the Damned. But, the Voyage of the St Louis is nothing compared to what happened later. Then, there's my erstwhile German uncle who was in the SS (Obersturmführer...or Lieutenant) and knee deep in the Holocaust in the Balkans/Hungary. He was captured by the British while trying to get to Switzerland (after ditching the uniform), but cheated a death sentence by knowing several languages including English. This allowed him to be a trial translator in turn for a POW sentence in Canada at a place called Seebe, Alberta. There the POWs...mainly officers...were put to logging until released. He never left Canada. He died in the 1980s, but I'm sure they'd have made a fuss about him being here these days seeing how they go after ancient camp guards and such still. I still have the medals he managed to keep. I was also surprised to find looking on Yad Vashem...that I had lost over a dozen German relatives to the Holocaust despite not being Jewish. However, marrying Jewish girls was enough to get you hauled away as problematic by the Gestapo. Germany & Austria...perhaps a few others...mark all these citizens....Jewish and non-Jewish...that were victims of the SS with brass tiles known as Stolperstein...stumbling stones. All the ones I found were sent to the Minsk ghetto where they were apparently liquidated in several 'aktions'...where SS men came into the ghetto and just shot everyone.

  27. True. It's because there's just a ton of anti-Israel propaganda out there, and it comes from places which are actual human rights abusers, unlike Israel. If there were 40 Israels out there and one Pakistan then there would have been 1,000 such resolutions against Pakistan, but there are 40 Pakistans and they somehow manage to take a break from hating and killing each other while they're in the UN.

I assume your talking about climate change and not Y2K, you make it sound like the entire subject is black and white when for me and many others it is not the clear what side is talking out their ass.... media and others have clouded the waters by offering plausible other reasons, also proven by science. That and the fact that early on in this climate change battle we have people like Al Gore theories clearly being debunked as well as his science behind it, creating more doubt ,Our government and the UN do not have a perfect record on the topic, so no I do not take all their info as gospel. ....So to answer your question I've put as much energy as the next guy, I by no means are an expert nor do I claim to have any answers, I do believe some where in the middle is the right answers...

  30. Open ended questions will not have the desired effect when it comes to screening people let alone terrorists....Screening out a terrorist requires expertise and experience that is too much to ask from an immigration officer. There’s no fast rule around this. Heck if it was meant to be so easy lots of terrorist acts could have been avoided. Then comes the question of home grown terrorism. Someone like acting out of mental health problem harming others. How on earth can airport security detect a terrorist like Anders Breivik with those far right ideologies killing so many people? He could have been on any one of those flights heading back to Norway or going elsewhere. I have little faith in these interviews (be it open ended or qualitative questionnaires) let alone the techniques available to an interrogating officer to detect a novice from a professional....

  33. I disagree. First, this was not treaty land. The court imposed its own ideas that native ownership rights derived claims of original occupation and use. And it restated the court's earlier finding about oral histories. Notwithstanding the challenges created by the use of oral histories as proof of historical facts, the laws of evidence must be adapted in order that this type of evidence can be accommodated and placed on an equal footing with the types of historical evidence that courts are familiar with, which largely consists of historical documents . It created this acceptence on its own. It did so despite it being impossible to verify any such oral histories and despite very, very, very well-known and long-proven evidence about how stories change when related from one person to another even in a short period of time. It placed such 'oral histories' on the same footing as legal documents, which is utterly insane.

The religious constituancy insisted on this and there was little opposition due to the fact that those who would have objected were a bunch of republican wing-nuts who just love to argue to hear the sound of their own voices and like to show the rest of us how smart they are. We are not a theocracy like the US but "Canadian Nation is founded upon principles" refers to the conditions that existed in 1867 when religion was very important. Spoiler Alert: Nobody cares what we say on this forum or any other forum. If you want to make a difference, get candidates who agree with you to run in the next election. Be aware that amending the Constitution is a snake pit and only an idiot would try and do it.

  35. No, I'm right. Wynne stated the obvious, that Deputy Ministers are not curriculum writers: “Ministers and deputy ministers do not write curriculum.... Curriculum is written by subject experts in conversation and in consultation with a wide array of people and curriculum is reviewed and written on an ongoing basis.” it would be accurate to say he was overseeing the whole department when the curriculum was developed, but it's ridiculous to assume he was the writer. He was the Deputy Minister. There would be writers hired for that project (probably on contract) and they would have a libel case against anyone who calls them pedophiles. The content itself is always dictated by a large development team made up of subject-area experts, which is led by a departmental project leader who specializes in that subject area. That's how it works in every province.
