  1. Sorry to say, but I lost my faith in this corrupt organization that serves the political will of a few super powers and does little to keep the peace, stop Russian and American invasions, and has no way to punish any member of the Veto-holding members. They consume a lot of money and are seldom objective as delegates (ambassadors) trade their votes for favors and money. http://www.defenddemocracy.org/united-nations-corruption-and-the-need-for-reform/ Like the IMF, WTO, and World Bank, the UN has become just another organization that serves the elite who have their own agendas. Yeah they operate UNICEF and a few good agencies, but overall it is a political machine that favors western and specifically American foreign policies. http://www.economist.com/node/4267109

  2. A lot of MPs, including Liberal MPs, have decided not to run again. It's odd for government MPs to not run after just one term, but some of these people apparently had the idea they would count for something, and that they'd have power. Neither is the case. There is a belief among some departing MPs that the promise made by the Trudeau Liberals that they would be the voice of their riding in Ottawa, rather than the other way around, has been broken. “I don’t feel we have lived up to that,” said one Liberal MP who has decided not to run again. He said he has become disenchanted over the course of the past four years by the regimented nature of party politics in Ottawa. “Stephen Harper centralized power into the Prime Minister’s Office, but I don’t think this prime minister has done anything to change that. I thought I would have a lot more of a say. But a lot of decisions are made by non-elected officials,” he said. Trudeau claimed that rule by cabinet was back when he was elected. That is not how it has worked out, according to any number of Liberal MPs. “Too much power is centralized — way, way, way too much power,” said one senior member of caucus who is running again. https://edmontonjournal.com/opinion/john-ivison-for-18-liberal-mps-the-love-affair-with-politics-is-over/wcm/c34d2b71-060a-4f84-aa16-025d86c7f1a6

  3. "Extreme right views". I suggest the phrase "extreme right views" and "extreme left views" should be shunned. These extreme views are rejected by all ordinary people on the left and right. Therefore we do a disservice to one another by attaching the views of some maniac to what we consider to be mainstream political spectrum. Use of left/right should be removed. These are extremist views, nothing more.

  4. Again, what matters is overall global output. People who consume almost nothing, produce just enough and rarely have a surplus do not contribute much to global warming let alone pollution overall. The third world is not the problem at all, the math does not even make sense. The only thing that does not lie to us is numbers and the numbers go against this 'third world' is causing global warming. With what? All of their cars, cows and electronic devices? ... Tomatoes? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions https://www.visualcapitalist.com/all-the-worlds-carbon-emissions-in-one-chart/

  5. Mr. Trudeau has told Canadians to do the exact opposite. Whenever a woman comes forward with a story about being sexual assaulted, she must be believed. But it was not true for him however, when a woman came forward and made similar claims about him. She was not to be believed, because he said so.

  6. Perhaps you can list a few of these note worthy programs , ones that are not littered with corruption or ones that western nations end up funding in the end because nobody else wants to get involved....No mention of any extortion by the Middle east, or Asia, mother Russia.....

  7. Maybe not, but plenty will be leaving America pretty soon. If not voluntary then involuntary but it must happen to make it known to any illegals that they are not welcome in America if they are going to enter America illegally. Do it the right way or stay away. That goes for Canada too. It has and still costing the taxpayer's of both America and Canada hundreds of billions of their tax dollars being wasted on these criminal illegals. It's time for Canada to get tough on these criminal illegals. All must go. The raids that ICE made on one chicken chop their heads off plant in some American state this week were able to grab over 600 illegal Mexicans working at that plant. The owners may end up being fined for having illegals working there. Apparently, it is against the law to hire illegals in America. It could cost the owners of that chicken plant a huge fine or even jail. They deserve what ever they get. Those owners and others like them are contributing to a criminal act that needs to be challenged and enforced.

  9. Cigarettes can be dumped if they get too expensive. You can't do without heating. And her lunatic idea to change every building in the country over to electric heat within a decade ought to cause even more mirth, not least for the cost, which is unimaginable. But also for the plain and obvious fact it isn't possible. It's going to take ten years just to renovate the centre block and she thinks every HVAC system in the country can be shifted over from natural gas, heating oil, and propane over to electricity in the same period of time? Phhht. That's on top of making electric cars mandatory. And as Murphy asks, what's to become of all the workers who are now in the oil and gas industry? Not to mention the ones in the support and repair industry for cars. Electric cars need far less of that so most of those people will be out of a job too.

  10. IMO the Green Party is just an illegitimate joke of a political party as long as they have E May at the helm. If it came down to her or Trudeau for PM again I'd vote for Trudeau in a heartbeat and Trudeau has already proven himself to be an utter failure at every level. He's getting about 25% on every test, but that's still better than straight zeros. May aside, the Greens seem to completely lack the foresight necessary for a major political party. Their naive, kindergarten-esque world view is the epitome of what you don't want in leadership.

  12. How does saying the UN is a joke, which it is on so many issues, make Bernier crazy? I suspect you think he's crazy because he disagrees with some of your progressive social views and for no other reason. You are an open borders guy and he wants to reinforce the borders. That does not make him crazy.

  14. The United Nations failed right out of the gate and to understand why you have to go back to the Second World War and the naive assumptions of its progenitor Franklin Delano Roosevelt. FDR was a Communist sympathizer who was enthralled by Joseph Stalin, or as FDR called him "my dear Mister Stalin". FDR's vision was that America and the Soviet Union were going to rule the world together in the aftermath of the war, a new world order under the banner of a "United Nations". The failure was baked into the cake, because obviously Stalin and the Soviets were not who FDR believed them to be, and as soon as the war was over, things fell apart rather quickly. Because it was FDR's legacy project it had momentum, but once he was dead it simply became a Self Licking Ice Cream Cone boondoggle which it has been ever since. There's no real impetus to get rid of it so long as the Americans are willing to pay for it, but it's folly to think you are going to replace it with something which is going to work better. In the end, Hegemons with thermonuclear deterrents are not going to submit themselves to a collective government, what you see is what you're going to get, no matter how you slice it. Frankly it would be existentially dangerous to try to empower such an institution with any sort of force behind it, as that would simply incite said Hegmons to invoke their deterrents and that's how accidents happen wherein your children die in a nuclear firestorm. These One World Government schemes are naive utopianism, they just get people killed, and at the level of Hegemons, that could be billions of people in the end. The two stage fission-fusion thermonuclear bomb rendered this fantasy a deadly delusion. The Americans already tried the UN route in 1962 and almost blew themselves up, after that, no more UN, they went to a Red Phone straight from the White House to the Kremlin because confrontation at the UN just muddied the very deep and dangerous waters of the Cold War. At 15 minutes notice to launch on warning hair trigger alert; nobody puts baby in a corner. That's why it doesn't work and it's never going to work. One world kumbaya nuclear disarmament? Yeah, that's not happening neither, because of these utopian fantasies of global governance, ever more countries are breaking out with their own deterrents in the face of it so they too cannot be put in a corner, and now we are up to nine and counting. . .
