Defining our values is a bit like defining art, in that its absence is more easily noted than its presence. If you can't interact socially with a member of the opposite sex, can't talk to them comfortably, can't touch them even to shake hands, I would say that's not our values. If you believe those who are not members of your religion are inferior, and offensive to God, and that this gives you considerable leeway to commit acts of violence on them, well, that's not our values either. Ditto if you think our laws or society should be amended to avoid offending your religious beliefs. If you think the women in your family belong to you and you can do whatever you want to them because your religion tells you to, well, that's not our values. Likewise if you think women are inferior to men and must always act and be modest around them. And I would say also that if you're not open to the values and culture here, but insist that yours are given by God, and thus cannot be changed, then you're not going to ever really integrate into our society, so should probably stay home.2 points

They will 'learn' that they shouldn't beat women or kill gays or Jews when they're here? But their religion says otherwise. You expect them to abandon their religions when they arrive because we tell them it's bad?2 points
-
I'm talking about values which say gays should be killed or imprisoned, that women who show their shoulders are whores, and thus free to be raped, or that in any case should be beaten whenever they get out of line. I'm talking about religiously inspired values out of the sixteenth century which do not believe in democracy or a secular society, and which do believe anyone who blasphemes or goes against their religion should be killed. Nobody is talking about shades of gray here, but of black and white. And yes, I recognize the irony in using that and how gleeful the lower IQ folks on the left would be to pick it up and brandish it aloft, but their opinions are so poorly stated, so poorly supported that only the ignorant pay them any heed.2 points

Yeah, yeah. People were saying that generations ago. Funny thing is that as young people get out into the world and start paying taxes and start watching the news and reading newspapers instead of playing video games, they start to change into conservatives. Not all of them, of course. Some are dumb enough to remain pie-in-the-sky idiots with no grounding in reality. We call them liberals.2 points

We need to look carefully at what a charitable donation is in reality. As you implied, it is NOT a "tax writeoff:" where the money you give is taken directly from your personal or corporate tax payable, it is treated as an expense, somewhat different from buying a piece of equipment that could earn money, it is simply gone from your income (and it really IS gone from your income) and you don';t pay any income tax on that money that you simply did not receive - the charity got it. The "advantage" to reducing income is that it costs you 3 to 4 times what it saves you. Now, I am not any kind of business or accounting genius, but I DO know when I write that cheque, it is costing me (or Jimmy Pattison) a hell of a lot more than what I am "saving" on my tax bill. There there is the "why" about doing so. If I let the hospital get funded by giving my money to my tax bill, some of that will go to the Feds and some of it will go to the province, but the vast majority of it is going to end up paying interest on the debt racked up by greedy bastards trying to buy votes to get them or give another $10mm to the next terrorist to murder a Yank. The list of things governments do that have nothing to do with what they SHOULD be doing is endless, and it wouild be very unlikely that more than a tiny fraction of 1% of what I am giving will end up where I would like to see my money benefit my fellow citizen. How anyone can see these kinds of generouis acts as anything other that exactly what they are - generous acts - is far beyond my ability to comprehend.2 points

So this number continues to rise. It was 49% in one poll, then 56%, and now 63%. And the reason should be obvious. Most people are most comfortable living among those who are very much like themselves. As the numbers of immigrants in society continues to rise more and more people are going to feel more and more uncomfortable. And when nothing is done that discomfort level is going to turn to frustration and then anger if the government continues to ignore them. So far the government shows no sign of paying the slightest attention. Nor does it help that the justifications the government is using are all lies. Hussen is quoted here, for example, as bemoaning the poll because we have labour shortages. Only... wages have been stagnant for years. When you have labour shortages employers pay more to attract workers. That's not happening. There are no labour shortages except in a few isolated areas. There are only employers who tell the government to bring in more cheap workers so they don't have to raise wages. Sixty-three per cent of respondents to a recent Leger poll said the government should prioritize limiting immigration levels because the country might be reaching a limit in its ability to integrate them.1 point

This is stupid and brainless, and was long ago dismissed as a hoax. No one with more than half a brain wouldn't realize that immediately.1 point

Its kind of weird. These people are posting from under their beds, where they're hiding, terrified of white supremacists. Where are the white supremacists? On the internet, and most of them are fairly young. Did you see any old geezers marching in that silly tiki torch parade in Charlottesville or fighting out in the streets? Nope. But it's fairly routine for the Left to denigrate older people. It's like one of the last groups they feel totally free to sneer at and mock and blame for all life's problems.1 point

Joe and Mary don't get the hospital named after them (Pattison does, he has donated more the $50 Million). No, I mean the community donors who have led the drive both with their time and money to get this facility built and equipped. THEY are the reason Jim Pattison came here to help (he is from Luseland, quite a distance West of here).1 point

You guys make me laugh...we don't want to control anything we want the existing system fixed, Guys like you throw their heads in the sand and keep repeating everything is fine, relax...roll a joint....everything will fix itself , So what your saying is this and correct me if i'm wrong.....we don't want any questions, on morals and values because we have none period...or There is no value on these questions they scare me .....the current system is working fine, nothing wrong with it......we should assume everyone is a good person until they prove other wise, and let them all in.....and current immigration levels are ok, not high enough or to high....1 point

Being personally acquainted with several of the donors who lead funding for the Children's Hospital in Saskatoon, I can tell you that yes, indeed, they would be donating with or without the TINY tax benefit that is allowed for charitable donations.1 point

The problem is that conservatives want to rig the questions and dominate the rejection process.1 point

Islamophobia: a concept created by your Muslim Brotherhood to vilify anybody critical of Islam. You support this concept. De Facto Sharia Law...all criticism of Islam by the Unbeliever must be prohibited.1 point

I guess, a mix of all ages will. And people after them will decide again, and so on and so forth. It's kind of irrelevant to the issue at hand at the present time.1 point

I was responding to this: The political, academic and media elites in their tight, incestuous bubble are all fully supportive of mass immigration. Even the idea that Canada has a culture or values that we ought to protect is anathema to them. None will dare express a contrary view to the prevailing narrative that mass immigration is an unparalleled benefit - though none will produce any evidence of that, nor need any. As for what ordinary Canadians think or want? They couldn't care less. They don't hear it. They live in a self-contained bubble where they reassure themselves that everyone believes as they do. I am not elite, I don't live in a bubble. Immigrants/refugees will learn the language they need to learn. The values test is a really big problem. Just in this conversation people obviously have different values. Will the values test begin to apply to people born in Canada?1 point

Oh, you're right. I should ignore all the articles and books and news articles and the disgusting Al Qud Rallies held all over the world, and the churches and synagogues being burned all over the world and Christians dying at the hands of Muslims, the bombings, the beheadings, the burning people alive, the imams caught spreading anti-semitism in every Western country they're allowed into, etc, etc, etc Your one incident of a Neo-Nazi group who were shut down by police, with no cite given, has totally convinced me that anti-semitism is not a problem in Islam. Please be sure to post that quote - wherever it's from - somewhere all the French Jews can see it, so they know it's not Muslims who are attacking and killing them and driving them out of France. They will be so grateful to you for setting them straight on who is really brutalizing them. Definitely not your Muslims, right? Totally innocent, lovers of Jews. Muslims are the real victims to you - ALWAYS. Yah, we got it, Dia. Of course, you will find something wrong with the source of this article because it's not flattering to Muslims, so therefore a stupid source. Jews naming their own attackers? That's not allowed in your pro-Islam worldview. https://www.jta.org/2019/05/01/global/french-jews-say-officials-are-reluctant-to-call-out-anti-semitism-by-muslims1 point

I work with a lot of millennials. They are team players, and require little supervision in general. The dying off of the oldest boomers has allowed gay marriage to happen, so social justice will only happen when these people take control. Personally, I can't wait.1 point

Many immigrants themselves dont want more immigration. Hypocritical? Yes. Common sense? Yes. If you become an immigrant in the first place from the so-called shithole countries the last thing you want is your countrymen to follow you. -1 point

It's not white supremacists driving Jews out of France and other European countries, either.1 point

When the richest people/corporations were taxed more, US citizens were better off. When politicians became enamored of 'trickle-down' economics, US citizens became gradually worse off - except of course, the richest who paid fewer and fewer taxes while failing to create economic wealth; instead they shunted their money out-of-country. Millennials, being generally much more educated than those who came before, will no doubt see through this idiocy and devise a system that permits everyone in rich countries to benefit - even if it means the richest have to pay their fair share. Your automatic denigration of entire groups of people about whom you know very little, and therefore think you can simply insult and dismiss, on display again.1 point

Yes, but from your post you are a clear-headed thinker who evaluates things on their own merits. You're not a prejudiced fear-absorber who lacks perspective, which is the kinds of voters that these campaigns are mining these days. Please, please speak up on social media when you see nonsense. There are more reasonable people than kooks and others need to see that. Back to the 1/2 taxes party - NO cutting multculturalism will not save 100s of millions in the budget, sorry.1 point

Most of these people are HKSAR residents who became Chinese nationals since the end of British lease who do not trust the Chico party. They and their families watched the horrors of Chairman Mao's ridiculous ideological reign of terror as it starved maybe 100 MILLION Chinese in the "Great Leap Forward" and murdered millions more. BUT: they also were witness to the incredible success of Deng's "Four Pillars of Modern Reform" that in a few short decades took China from the bottom of the pile to the very top of the economic heap. and many of them are employed in business related to that success (like being a Canadian depending upon the US, as it happens). If China really screws up and threatens their real freedoms in HKSAR, you can bet they will be here, moving into their McMansions in Richmond and picking up business right where they left off before getting on the plane from Hong Kong. They are the FIRST class of immigrants that we should be encouraging (which we DID - that's how they got to become citizens or PRs in the first place), not dragging the bottom of the barrel to bring in more drug dealers, terrorists and human traffickers from Syria, Nigeria, Somalia, the Carribean, etc. who will simply vote Liberal (and a hint here, HK Chinese-Canadians will NOT likely do that!!)1 point

Well let’s see how this rolls out in Quebec and use it as a test case for similar legislation nationwide. I like the idea of incentivizing immigration northwards and to rural areas. Social services and public housing in southern cities are stretched to capacity to accommodate new arrivals. Nothing wrong with making immigration work for the country.1 point

Notice how much of that discussion sounds quite wistful. Hard to let go of the olde ways I guess.1 point

Raybold has been consistent in her speech regarding all of this. Trudeau has not been consistent and to save face had to kick these two ladies out of the party for calling him out on the lies and his inability to do what is right in this SNC-Lavalin matter. IS that what we want in a PM?1 point
