Looks like Canada is falling out with the communist regime. Question is when is Truedua going to ask big bro trump for help? Lets not kid ourselves, there are huge perks to being an American. One of them usually involve other countries not executing you. "It is of extreme concern to us as a government, as it should be to all our international friends and allies, that China has chosen to begin to arbitrarily apply the death penalty in cases facing, as in this case, facing a Canadian," Trudeau said in a news conference following Monday's ruling. https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/14/asia/china-canadian-drugs-death-sentence-intl/index.html?no-st=15474881191 point

That is a fair and constructive criticism. I did pull the "95%" from the article I quoted, and that article was talking about one specific section of barrier so yes it certainly opens the door for someone to pull the conversation off track. I felt that it was worth the risk though, to point out the vast difference between the real world (very high effectiveness of physical borders) with what is being pedaled today in the media (physical borders are 0% effective - you just need a ladder).1 point

Dead Hand is so scary even the Russians don't leave it on all the time, they would only turn it on in a crisis. So, if you are an Islamo nuclear bomber, and you want to totally destroy America, you wait for a nuclear stand off, then you hit Russia not America, and then Dead Hand does the rest, your single small bomb incites the Russian survivable second strike system to destroy the CONUS with the full weight of the Russian deterrent force.1 point

And as to the R-36 Voyevoda, IIRC, that is now being replaced by a new liquid fueled heavy ICBM which will be even more capable, called the RS-28 Sarmat.1 point

I find Tennessee to be the best place to locate in America. It's centrally located, the climate is moderate, they've got the good tax laws, they've got the good gun laws, and the good ol' boys from Tennessee are a hoot. Great people.1 point

This must be all very confusing for small potatoes. He though he had a strong friend in Red China.1 point

Indeed. And you'll be a minority in your own country...just like the Natives...vote all you like to rid yourself of Islam. It's here to stay...and it doesn't want to share power. Wants you dead or converted... ...and since Trudeau Sr's mission...continued by Jr...was to break the back of British culture (read anybody not Quebecois)...the eventual destruction of English Canada at the hands of a 7th century death cult will be the final irony for 1759.1 point

The B41 developed from Redwing has to be one of the scariest weapons actually deployed (1961-68). Both clean and dirty versions. City buster, indeed! NukeMap (see initial post) gives a good reading on the differences between air and surface bursts....including casualty predictions. As was discovered in testing, air bursts produce a reflected shock wave besides the original, making what is called a Mach Stem...very destructive...exponentially. MIRVs allowed several small air bursts to create multiple Mach Stems effectively outperforming single larger weapons.1 point

But what do we do when there is no other real conservative voice? I agreed that I would never want to see that party form government, but I could certainly support it in the opposition benches as a kind of protest vote to signal ti secular conservative parties that they want to become a little more conservative in their own right to win back some of those votes.1 point

It's still hard to do....JFK and Reagan came close...but there are negative feedback loops that keep things stable, or hell, it would have happened by now. China just wants to be a big dog like the USA, doing things the USA has done, like going to the Moon. Russia just wants to stop the bleeding from a Cold War lost, not destroy the West.1 point

America says that every goddamn inch of the planet has been radar mapped and profiled for attack if/when necessary, including the current weather over the target. A first strike would not be unlawful if it was consistent with established protocols.1 point

It's a lot of drama to talk about who has the "nuclear codes", but reality doesn't measure up to the fantasy. It worked for Goldwater, but not Hillary Clinton.1 point

He has the authority and duty to do so, but nuclear weapons release still takes two people. No single individual in the command chain can do it alone....not even a blowhard like Trump.1 point

It wasn't a hard sell....your parents, your wife, your kid(s)...even your dog are getting fried any minute so it's time for some payback ! Technically, launching means that MAD has failed.1 point

Well, the entire crew was a voluntary force to begin with, and we were all screened by Navy shrinks. Even then, there was a reliability program file kept for each officer and rating associated with nuclear weapons and ship control. Smoke dope...you're gone...rejected to the surface navy. During launch exercises, officers and some CPOs were armed with M1911 .45 cal pistols just in case anybody didn't want to be a team player.1 point

We did things like fucking over a democracy and inflicting a dictator on it to help ourselves. This is the sort of shit you people apologize for every day of the week and twice on Sunday. We did this sort of thing in living memory and you pass the buck to some insane asshole from 1400 years ago. This is the depth of shit you are willing to wallow in to put a shine on what we did. And we did so with sphincters like you screaming bloody blue murder that we weren't siding with the child rapers fast enough all the while equating anyone who questioned why to the enemy. Well sure you do right now but you'll revert back to form the minute someone posts the outrage du jour in the Today in Islam thread.1 point

Yes...he campaigned on exactly that. Still hasn't started a stupid shooting war after two years.1 point

If the Rooskies could find our periscope mast sticking 1 meter above the surface in the North Sea, they sure as hell could find a Nimitz or Forrestal class super carrier.1 point

Agreed...they are willing victims of geography and circumstance. NATO is not going to total war for Ukraine....no way...no how.1 point

Not going to happen....hell, Ukraine use to be the bad guys too. That's why they had Soviet nuclear weapons.1 point

If you mean any high order detonation that is not a test, then this is likely to happen in the next 25 years.1 point
