Maybe if governments weren't always so blatantly wasting tax money by the hundreds of billions, people would be less inclined to avoid tax. I don't mind paying towards useful spending done well.. infrastructure, education, scientific research, national defense, etc. I'm sure many people feel the same way, in fact, many of the "rich" give extensively to various charitable causes. The problem is that the government does not spend money wisely or well, funds are wasted in massive corruption, bureaucracy, wasteful programs, and bad decisions. When people feel that their hard earned tax dollars are being wasted or, worse, being used to fund the lavish lifestyles of politicians, of course avoiding taxes will be foremost on their minds. To address tax evasion, what the government needs to do is not to go after tax evaders, but to go after its own corruption and wasteful spending. Make people believe in their leaders and governments again, make people trust their institutions.4 points

This forum used to be one of the up and coming sites, where "normal "people could discuss topics of interest. Now it is a waste land where the inmates have taken over the prison and turned it into shit hole....and not just the inmates but some of the moderation team as well, even Greg has long since lost his "will" to keep the site at least wing nut free. I guess the ride is over time to get off..3 points

Immigration policy is likely driven purely by politics and with a view to votes from ethnic communities who came from certain areas of the world. The more a political party has invested in those communities, the more it is beholden to them in the future. The percentage coming from western Europe was greatly reduced decades ago with large increases from Asia, the middle east and Africa. I suspect no consideration will be given to protecting our western style culture since Trudeau says there is no such thing as Canadian values and "diversity is our strength". Many of these people who should be integrating have no intention of doing so and do not like our western culture. Western Europe made this same mistake and is now paying for it.3 points

Clearly we don't have our priorities straight. Why should the US get any coverage when they bombed Cambodia in the 60's.2 points

I nominate HE to get in touch with all the media outlets and ask why nanothermites have not been been included in the coverage of this tragedy.2 points

No Palestinian leader is required to recognize Israel as a "Jewish State". However, Palestinian leaders have accepted Israel as a State. And they are a state. But there is no Palestinian State, because Israel is not interested in allowing one to be formed. Instead, they want to drag this on and on, with b.s. excuses that you continue to post, so that they can continue to annex more Palestinian land. Your auto-b.s. comments have gotten SO old. Just be honest for once, instead of the excuses: The Zionist government is not interested in allowing a real, viable Palestinian State, as according to and as required by international law.1 point

This may actually be a mental health issue as dude escaped a mental facility. Laws should have prevented him from obtaining the gun he used as well. Seems a lot of balls were dropped here.1 point

Did I say that Muslims have a religious requirement to kill people? Did I say Christians have a rleigious requirement to kill people? Did I say Athiests have a religious requirement to kill people? No, I said he did not have a religious reason for doing this. And yet, You ddidn't have any kind of problem with Altai for saying OUTRIGHT that he had a Christian requirement for doing this. Take a chill pill and untwist your shorts there, before you have a heart attack over nothing.1 point

As far as I know it was the government and the military that slaughtered the Indians, not Christians. Christians do not go out with guns after service and start looking for people to shoot. If there was any involvement in the massacres of Indians by religions it was done by the heads of those churches in conjunction with the government. The ordinary Christian most likely did not know anything of what was going on by their church leaders just like we don't know as to what our politicians are doing behind our backs without our knowledge which goes on quite a lot I might add. Christian people are probably the best people to be around as they do not go out of their way to start committing massacres like that idiot did. Christians are probably some of the best people that one would want to know or hang around with. Today our fearless puppet on a string politicians are having their strings pulled by the globalist bankster zionist elite which one is safe to say are made up of evil people where it is all about the money and power, and to hell with the rest of us. All of our problems are the result of bought off politicians who take their orders from the deep state, not you and me, the taxpayer. Canada should have done what Iceland did after the crash in 2008. The government there arrested the banksters and put them in jail. Why didn't our politicians do the same?1 point

Here you are insinuating that Muslims have a religious requirement to kill people. You are a terrible person for trying to stereotype over 1.5 billion people by the action of a very small percentage.1 point

This is why it's pointless to engage in conversation with you. You'll take every conversation to fit your narrative that the US is an Evil Empire. There are interesting things to discuss regarding this mass shooting regarding gun laws and how we react to them when it's a white guy as opposed to a Muslim. But if you're just going to call people hypocrites for discussing this when all we should be talking about is how Evil the US is, then I'll just go back to ignoring you because that's not what I really want to talk about. I'm sure there are plenty of forums that will give you your anti-American fix.1 point

I think there's a growing number of Canadians that don't actually have trouble paying high taxes, they just have trouble paying high taxes for the bullshit that the government spends money on - union employees being the #1 cost. But to Argus' point about what government should spend money on, that's an interesting debate. Political leaders are not only chosen for their ability to listen to the people and put democratic voices into reality, but also for their vision of what the city/province/nation should become. Sometimes politicians have to lead, even though their is no immediate public appetite for those things, as demonstrated by the free market. The most obvious example is when the government banned smoking in bars. The businesses were outraged. The libertarians suggested that if such a thing was wanted, the free market would have already established it. Looking back now, does anyone think the government made a mistake when they banned smoking from bars and restaurants? Even the smokers seem to reluctantly agree that it was the right thing to do. But aside from a couple of exceptions, I do understand the frustration of politicians spending our money to reflect their values, and the values of the culturally elite.1 point

So what does that have to do with 26 church-goers being gunned down in cold blood?1 point

What I don't like to see my tax dollars going to, aside from wastage and overpaid, overbureacratized public servants includes anything like funding for the arts of any kind. That includes money for large institutions like ballet, orchestras and theaters. I'll make an exception for the NAC as something the capital of the country could use. But that's it. If you look around in history at great music halls from previous centuries you find they were mostly constructed with no public money. Hey, if you think you can get enough customers for the ballet to make it worth your while then fine, form one, and set yourself up. Good on you. But why the hell should I pay for it? Same goes for opera houses or musicians, artists and writers of various sorts. If they have the talent to get people to pay them, then great. If not, I don't see why I should. That goes for television networks, too. I see no reason why we need to fund the CBC. Let it survive or not on how many people are willing to watch it and advertise on it. You want to have some ethnic celebration? Fine. Just don't ask for taxpayer money for it. I don't care if it's Carribana or St. Patrick's day. Nor do I want to contribute one dime to your kid's special language school so he can keep up his ancestral language.1 point

Which is more racist? Acknowledging the reserve system is broken and proposing alternatives? Pretending nothing is wrong and keep applying band-aid solutions, allowing FN to wallow in slums all across the country? Unfortunately, our PM is far more interested in virtue-signalling than any real change.1 point

I don't practice my Christian religion anymore but I think that since most American and Canadians have pretty much stopped living by their Christian morals and values that they once did many decades ago, we now get to see all the violence that we see being committed today partly because of our loss of Christian values. As far as I know pretty much most practicing Christians don't go out and start shooting people like this loser did. I guess that is something to think about. Since liberalism/communism and materialism started to take hold of peoples minds and influence them into those worlds mentioned above society has taken a turn for the worse. Just saying1 point

You came on another thread and in response to the sacrifice soldiers make to this country made a flippant throw away comment that when they do what they do, they deserve what happens to them. Your exact words were: "As for our soldiers...they're simply volunteers who knew or should have known what they were in for when signing up for Ottawa's overseas military adventures" You are in NO position to tell anyone how to define values according to any sensibility given the above insipid and childish comment.. You show by the above words you are incapable of understanding what the value of self sacrifice is. You clearly can't comprehend it given clearly you someone who has never put their life on the line for a belief. You clearly just take for granted your freedoms and lifestyle and have not a clue what price was paid so you can have them. So do me a favour, don't lecture anyone on experimenting with values or making moronic comments like you don't think anyone is intentionally trying to destroy our values-you did-you came on this board to intentionally insult and belittle the sacrifice of our soldiers. You are absolutely pathetic in trying to pose as anyone in the position to lecture about values.1 point

I am not sure what was more pathetic. Eye's idiotic comment, " As for our soldiers...they're simply volunteers who knew or should have known what they were in for when signing up for Ottawa's overseas military adventures..." or the equally as idiotic and childish comments of Hot Enough who couldn't figure out you were making a sarcastic response to Eye. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of children on this forum who live sheltered protected lives and assume their freedom and lifestyle came without a price. On the one hand we have one who makes flippant remarks passing off sacrifice as something we should take for granted and downplay, and then we have the other calling soldiers coward I had to cool it a few days before I responded when I saw the idiot responses to you. I am glad you did not respond further. They aren't worth any further responses. You were however.1 point

I provided the proof by quoting your statement and showing why it is hypocritical and bigoted. Maybe if you had a university education, you could comprehend and wouldn't have to resort to personal attacks.1 point

Yes it should. It seems the left is trying to bring canada down to the level of 3rd world countries instead of bringing them up to our standards. But instead ,just bring everyone here until the country is ripped apart , instead of forcing the other countries to get their shit together and follow our lead.1 point

Anyone think CRA will investigate this one thoroughly? With Trudeau's father being in the files, along with Chretien and Paul Martin Jr, and his bagman Bronfman? They will promise a thorough investigation and then assign someone 'reliable' to make sure nothing is found. Then this will be quietly swept under the rug. If the Liberals really wanted to tax the rich he'd cut out these offshore tax havens. But he won't. He and his finance minister use them, after all, as to a lot of other rich Liberals.1 point

I think they are designed to pretend to be going after the rich, though in reality the rich are people like Morneau, not doctors and farmers, and he's certainly not going after 'his people' or touching family trusts or other shelters for their money.1 point
