  1. You do often state what you deem to be "facts" that are actually only wild assumptions that you hope people will buy so as to believe your position. When they call you out, you get insulting, like clockwork.

  2. "Trudeau is giving mixed messages," says one of the news channels. His "welcome mat" is confusing would-be applicants, and causing the mass exodus of refugees to Canada. Haitians fleeing the USA, are under the false impression that everyone is welcome. They don't know that Canada had already started deporting Haitians who were temporary refugees (Earthquake) about 2 years ago. In the meantime, we'll have to house everyone that comes here.........while they go about the long process of applying as refugees. Imagine the monumental cost that comes with that! From board and lodgings, to health care etc.., Can they work while they apply? If not, do they get welfare? More likely, screening and vetting will be lax just so to be able to keep up! The Liberals are really saddling us with future catastrophic problems!

  3. According to Border Services the legal costs of dealing with even a failed asylum claim work out to $50,000 each. So that's $1.8 billion for the cost of handling them. That doesn't count the costs of welfare and health care, of course.

  4. Are you sure about that? I think I've detected spittle on occasion.

  5. Can you provide citations for that? I've heard that speculation, but I've never seen any evidence.

  6. Well, this thread is about Islamophobia in Canada, but has now degenerated into the usual generalized stereotypes and anti-immigrant hysteria.

  7. I'm sure that I generally treat sneering, sophomoric dullards with the back of my hand. I presume you've been given it on occasion given your decision to enter this thread for no other purpose but to insult me. And so you define yourself.

  8. I am not a turn-the-other-cheek kind of guy. An unbiased examination of any of the times I have written intemperately to others here would show virtually all of them provoked those words with their own generally personal accusations.

  9. In fact, most countries won't even give you citizenship if you were born there unless you were born to a citizen. The reason there are third world women coming to Canada to bear children and then returning home is it is one of the very, very few remaining countries that gives its citizenship away so easily.

  11. We can't say Trudeau didn't warn us he would continue as he is doing now, i.e. encouraging people from all countries to come into Canada. There are some 86,000 Hondurans covered under the Temporary Protected status program, which expires in January, and 260,000 El Salvadorans, TPS expiring in March. What looming crisis is that you ask Mr. Prime Minister?

  15. I understand quite well. Religion has been the largest source of wars since the big bang. The bible is a source of confusion and supplication. I don't have a ring in my nose thanks.

  16. "Jesus said", that's supposed to be some sort of justification? Jesus can kiss my ass. Supplication of that type is why we still have wars.

  19. If you look at the immigration policies of many other countries, you will find many of them do not allow just anybody to immigrate to their country. Some hardly allow anyone into their country. A country has the sovereign right to determine who comes in. I don't agree with the globalists who think Canada should be open to the world and anyone can come here.

  20. My proposal is only a point of view. A point of view is allowed in Canada under freedom of expression. It is not illegal to express a point of view on immigration policy. We still live in a society which has a certain amount of freedom even if it goes against your own political correctness. Laws can be changed by parliament. Any law which exists can be changed at any time by parliament. Canada is a sovereign country and can set it's immigration policy any way it chooses. As a sovereign nation Canada has the right to allow in whoever it chooses. There are certain religious groups or ideologies that do not assimilate into Canadian society. The government already discriminates in it's immigration policy, i.e. the point system. You pointed it out yourself. A sovereign country has the right to choose who it wishes to bring into it's country. I understand your point about people who are already here. I don't oppose those who are here. Many of them do contribute a net benefit to Canada. That is not the point. We are talking about immigration policies which can be changed to protect Canada's future. Your idea of cultural marxism is destroying Canada and other countries. There is such a thing as Canadian values. Bringing people in who oppose our values and want to change Canada will destroy what we have here.

  21. On one side, we have your feelings that you express. On the other, we have facts: "some may still be surprised by a study by Garnett Picot and Feng Hou, of Statistics Canada, that verifies that young Canadians with immigrant backgrounds are almost twice as likely to go to university as students whose parents were born in Canada. The social policy experts found 50 per cent of students who immigrated to Canada go to university, compared to 31 per cent of students who had one parent who is an immigrant and only 25 per cent of students whose parents were both born in Canada." 22. You don't have and have presented nothing in support of immigration as it works today. Not. One. Thing. You cherish immigration only because of your hatred for Canada, its history and its people, and your desire to change it into something different. You are the one reacting emotionally by labeling those who disagree. You appear to have a fundamental dislike of western values, including freedom of speech and expression.

  23. "Cold hard facts" that make the racists and anti-immigrants foam at the mouth: "some may still be surprised by a study by Garnett Picot and Feng Hou, of Statistics Canada, that verifies that young Canadians with immigrant backgrounds are almost twice as likely to go to university as students whose parents were born in Canada. The social policy experts found 50 per cent of students who immigrated to Canada go to university, compared to 31 per cent of students who had one parent who is an immigrant and only 25 per cent of students whose parents were both born in Canada." Source As these racists and anti-immigrants get older and start paying more visits to the doctor, it's going to feel quite awkward when Dr. Gupta is treating them.

  24. People like Argus want to make 'Canada Great Again', by bringing those back. Emotional racists get quite angry when their positions are challenged with facts and statistics. They simply try to push aside Statistics Canada with their own emotional feelings.

  25. We have a history of racism in our immigration history. Let's see now there was the Chinese head tax, Barriers for Blacks, Whites only for the west, Indians need not navigate to Canada, Japanese Gentleman's Agreement, Nazi Fleeing Jews: None is too many, etc.,based on the ideals of those "uneducated scum". Lets be thankful those days are behind us and more enlightened people are handling the issue.

  28. Canada continues to improve as a country. Statistics clearly show that we are more educated now, we are making more money, we are safer and we have a lot more delicious food to choose from. Which counters your 'feelings'. Who cares about your scared feelings anyway, besides you and the loud minority of whiners who are too afraid and chickenshit to explore people and ideas that seem unfamiliar to them. Your feelings will be pushed aside just like anything else that is old, stale and holds evolution back for something better.

  29. Do you realize that your proposal to bring people from only certain countries goes against Canadian laws, which rejects discrimination based on ethnicity? Go to any major hospital, engineering firm or university. The majority of employees are not Judeo-Christians. I believe you are stereotyping due to ignorance. In my community, there are many who are not from "Judeo-Christian cultures" and things are working out well. We can all learn from other cultures while promoting the strengths of Canada's (which is always changing). Our immigration system should not be discriminatory based on the fear of people, which is usually based on ignorance. We have a merit based skilled worker immigration program, where those with high language skills, education, lower age and skilled work experience have the best chance of immigrating to Canada. Close to 2/3 of immigrants who come to Canada, come through that program. This system does not prejudice based on where the person is applying from.

  30. You whiners are simply just whiners, Argus. All you do is make lame excuses for your fellow whiteys and you pretend you are so badly put upon. You never want to take any responsibility for your own mistakes, your own support for those in the world that are causing all these refugee problems, the people who have been raping and pillaging for centuries.

  31. The weather isn't too great today. I'm wondering if I should start my new project, a small 10x10 deck that I can put a pop up gazebo on and use as an outside workshop for my bikes. I think I'll get started on it anyway and see what I can get done before it gets too nasty out. See ya later.

  32. It should be noted that these are not refugee's. They're illegal immigrants, big difference. These people are coming here because they don't want to go back to Haiti, not because they're persecuted, fear for their lives etc. They do not bring anything of benefit to Canada and will be a drain on our economy. However, they will benefit the Liberals when they vote for them, this is blatant self serving behavior by our government as they place their well being above that of Canadian citizens. Trudeau is repeatedly showing himself to be a self serving egotistical amateur playing at being PM. He truly is a terrible choice for the position.

  33. That makes good sense to me! You need to look at the big picture. Key indicators like life expectancy and infant mortality rates, and key causative factors like age. For example... 1. The median age of Canadians is 42, but in New Zealand its 37! (We have an older population than the UK and Australia as well.) 2. In New Zealand 5.7 children per 1000 die before the age of 5. In Canada only 4.9. 3. The life expectancy in Canada is a full year longer than the life expectancy in New Zealand. The reality is a person in New Zealand is flat our more likely to die of sickness or illness than a person in Canada. And OF COURSE healthcare dollars are going to go further in a country where people on average are 5 years younger. Never mind the fact that a GP in Canada makes about 75k more than a GP in New Zealand due to our proximity to the UPG (Universal Price Gouging) system in the US which drives up costs here. Is their system really better? Are wait times a more important factor than a population actually being healthy and living long? Or is all this maybe a bunch of "Fraser Institute styled" cherry-picking of data and myopically focusing on hot button issues with the goal of privatizing healthcare? I wonder.... Any analysis that does not consider these things is not worth the paper its printed on or the bandwidth used to post it on the internet. None of this excuses wait times, and we should do what we can to alleviate them, but the reality is no matter what kind of system we have our population is getting older, and by extension of that sicker as well.

  34. I remember the good old days when a police force only had to deal with robberies and murders. Now they are more like social workers, and have to deal with cry baby whiners and complainers, and so many useless programs and agendas that have been shoved on society by the politicians that the police have to get involved with and enforce that they should never have to be involved with.

  35. oh, ok. So which part of Canada is Portland in? (After that Trump-loving "patriot" stabbed people to death in Portland last week, is it surprising that the anti-Trump protestors are arming up?) So where in Canada are conservatives getting punched in the face or beaten with clubs? -k

  36. Yup and under the law it is. You can even get tasered bro!!! https://www.google.ca/search?q=dont+tase+me+bro&rlz=1C1CHBF_enCA732CA732&oq=dont+tase+me+bro&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.3935j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF- In any case... all this blabbing on about the "forces of the left" and "free speech" is pure BS, from a guy that produces pretty much nothing else. Both sides of the political spectrum do the same thing for the same reasons. People have invested themselves in this culture war for whatever reasons. Its really stupid, but it is what it is. It would be kinda nice if they all just died but that would reduce our population by about 70%.

  39. So calling people who disagree with you idiots is fine in your book, but god forbid anyone should respond in kind. Right back at'cha.
    1 point
  40. So if people don't agree with you then they lack sense, are idiotic and support proven harmful immigration policies. This, despite the fact that Canada is rated among the best countries to live and among the top 10 performers economically, even with our 'harmful' immigration policies of the last 150 years. The facts don't support these conservative claims, Argus. That and their assumption that conservatives are the only sensible ones no doubt contributes to the way in which people consider conservatives claims more xenophobic than thoughtful.
