Second, Xi brought up the Taiwan thing because Xi is panicking. He saw how worthless their defense systems were in Iran. Now, that was not their best stuff, but it was 0% effective. 

China is a nation in decline. They are using these last gasps of air to try to prop up their paper tiger. Their reality is that their economy cannot support a war. It definitely cannot invade. The only play they have is to attempt economic blockade and that would never survive a US supported opposition. Their Taiwan aspirations are dead.
