So why are we seeing reduced living standards?

You're trying to excuse the inexcusable. You're trying to explain why you think it's okay that our government is allowing us to die earlier than we should and why our medical system is failing.

You are so in love and beholden to the liberals that you would rather see Canadians die than admit we might have a problem that needs to be addressed.

You should take a minute and think about what that says about you

My Lord, all  I’m saying is that other countries are catching up. It’s not like we’ve suddenly become Zimbabwe. I’ve made many comments on health reform over the years and favour a properly mixed system. Neither party has brought that in. Harper had his chance.

Do you have a headache? Sore throat? Pain in the joints? You might qualify for MAID.

Just send us an email detailing your race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and the size of your carbon footprint (along with your celebrity status & political orientation), and if your cisgender white male WASP conservative-voter carbon-guzzler status ranks high enough, you can just put a tarp down inside your front door and count down from 10, motherfather.

Once again you're putting your love  of the liberals ahead of the canadian people.

The very fact you would reference harper as being the problem when he was in for only 10 of the last 25 years AND during the greatest recession in a century casts doubt on your claim.

And also harper made it clear he'd consider ppp's for health care AND he increased health funding.

PP has also said he'd allow any provincial plan that blended public and private if that's what the province wanted.

Soooo  yea, sorry but there is a party that 'gets it right'.  THe provinces have to do the actual leg work, it's their responsibility, but the liberals won't allow them to consider it and the CPC will.

So there you go

Liberal and Conservative love for the 1-3% could have a lot to do with it.

AI Overview

Taxes on the wealthiest Canadians have generally gone down since 1990, primarily through reductions in personal income and capital gains tax rates that occurred in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

We don't even make the top 17 countries with the highest tax rates.

You'll have to look at a few sources, I don't know of any that spell it out in one simple link. But if you compare canada's increase and decreases in life expectency againt other countries you'll find a few things,  namely that it actually improved quite a bit under harper, didn't do that bad under the final years of chretien, but then fizzled during justin's term and just didn't keep up with world growth.  And it's not a case of poor countries 'catching up' or the like as was previously suggested.

Yup, a whole lot actually, numerous studies have found that higher social spending is associated with longer life expectancies.

Slashing taxes leads to lower social spending and lower life expectancies...except for the 1-3% of course.

Yawn.  You'll have to look it up yourself.

Depending on while source you use (world health cia etc) we went up and down a little but held our own till 2010. And then there was a slight drop but not so much. we fell to about 7 instead of 5. Pretty much the same   THe real drops came later.

Under trudeau we drop from around 7 to about 23.  THAT is a drop.

So we held the same under harper till the recession and were pretty close to where we started by the end of his term.

And the whole time the average life expectancy went up.

Under trudeau we dropped about 18 points. That's an actual drop. Not just one or two countries jockeying for position but a huge drop.

Canada’s ranking in global life expectancy last 20 years - Google Search

But i love That you lied and pretended you couldn't find anything ;)

How many tries did it take you to find something that SOUNDED like what you wanted it to :)

During the harper years  we held the line.  After that, it nosedived.

Oh and trudeau was the only one who saw a REDUCTION in life expectancy.

The average life expectancy of a nation might be falling, holding the same, or increasing.  But each one of us has no guarantee how long we will live.  We need to think in terms of eternity and where we are heading as we slip into eternity.   Don't let the Devil take your mind off the most important subject there is.  That is our soul and where we are heading.  Don't succumb to the temptation to take MAID, the easy way out.  That is not God's will for humanity.  God created us and our bodies belong to Him.

Therefore consider this message by a wonderful Pastor,  Max Solbrekken.

WE MUST LIVE WITH
 ETERNITY IN MIND !http://mswm.org/bible-sermons/index-biblesermons/holybible-sermons/red-arrow.gif

by: Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.

God is eternal and infinite.  He does not think with a finite mind as we do!  His thoughts and actions reflect His omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence and eternalness!

God's plans and purposes for this universe and all of us, were formulated in His mind before He created the foundations of  the world.  Eternity in heaven or hell has already been determined.

God cannot make a mistake, lie or be wrong in His intentions of deeds, for God is totally righteous, all knowing and all wise.

http://mswm.org/bible-sermons/index-biblesermons/holybible-sermons/red-arrow.gifEVERYTHING GOD DOES IS FOR ETERNITY

God knows the future and sees the pitfalls and snares that await our stumbling feet.  And God helps us, protects us from the devil, protects us from the world and from ourselves.

WHY ARE WE SO IMPORTANT TO GOD?  Firstly, we were made in God's image.  Secondly, Jesus personally died for our sins and finally, through the new birth, we are a part of Him - his body.

What does the word eternity mean?  Eternity means forever and ever, without end.  The words, "there shall be no end" and "forever", show the eternal purposes of God in the birth of Christ.  THE INCARNATION WAS SERIOUS STUFF. Eternity is serious stuff.

The moment, of God the Son - wrapping Himself in human flesh - coming down to earth to save us.  All this was deliberately and perfectly timed and executed.

"But when the fullness of time was come, God sent His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons." (Galatians  4:4-5)

Jesus coming to earth to die for our sins wasn't an after thought or a fill-in.  The decision to send King Messiah to this earth, was communicated to Satan - the adversary - immediately after Adam and Eve's tragic fall.

"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head and thou shall bruise His heel." (Genesis 3:15)

Here, God promises a "virgin born" savior (her seed), Who would conquer Satan through His substitutionary death.  In the process, the Savior would suffer a minor wound (bruise His heel), and Satan would be totally defeated (bruise his head).

http://mswm.org/bible-sermons/index-biblesermons/holybible-sermons/red-arrow.gifJESUS DIED ON THE CROSS - With Eternity in Mind

Although Jesus suffered more than any man, was wounded and marred for our total salvation, it was minor because He laid down His life of His own free will. (John 10:15-18)

http://mswm.org/bible-sermons/index-biblesermons/holybible-sermons/red-arrow.gifSATAN HAD NO POWER OVER JESUS

Satan could not take it from Him!  And Jesus arose again on the third day, destroying Satan and his power over us.

"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;" (Hebrews 2:14)

FROM THE INCARNATION TO THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST, AND THROUGHOUT THE 'GOSPEL AGE', GOD HAS CONTINUED THE EXECUTION OF HIS ETERNAL WILL, THROUGH HIS CHURCH, THE CALLED-OUT-ONES)

http://mswm.org/bible-sermons/index-biblesermons/holybible-sermons/red-arrow.gifWE MUST LIVE WITH ETERNITY IN MIND

This is why it is so important that we live with "eternity in mind".  All our plans and goals should reflect this mind set, in our relationships to God, the Church - His body - and the world!  We must think of the future, of eternity and prepare ourselves for eternity, and eternal life with Jesus Christ.

Let us study the Word of God, pray, witness and give joyfully, to help build His eternal Kingdom.

Jesus said, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." (John 3:3,7)

The Bible makes it clear that, "He who hath the Son hath everlasting life: and he who believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." (John 3:36)

That means that all those who do not personally know Jesus Christ, must receive Him as Savior and Lord in order to be saved and to be in Heaven with Christ for eternity.

http://mswm.org/bible-sermons/index-biblesermons/holybible-sermons/red-arrow.gifTHERE IS A  REAL HEAVEN & A REAL HELL

St. John emphasized:  "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which He hath testified of His Son.  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself:  he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave His Son.  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life.  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God." (I John 5:9-13)

http://mswm.org/bible-sermons/index-biblesermons/holybible-sermons/red-arrow.gifHERE IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH - All who reject Jesus Christ and refuse to receive Him as Lord & Savior are calling Almighty God a LIAR, "because he believeth not the record that God gave of His Son." (verse 10)

Do you think for one moment that anyone will escape the judgment of God when they reject Jesus Christ - His gift to the world - and call Him a liar?

That's serious stuff, since He is the judge of the entire world!  How do you think an earthly judge would react if someone in his courtroom called him "a liar"?  He would immediately be guilty of 'contempt of court' of worse.

St. Paul puts it all in perspective when he says, "For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him." (Hebrews 2:2-3)

http://mswm.org/bible-sermons/index-biblesermons/holybible-sermons/red-arrow.gifETERNITY IS REAL - ETERNITY IS FOREVERhttp://mswm.org/bible-sermons/index-biblesermons/holybible-sermons/red-arrow.gif

In the Apocalypse, St. John warns:  "And the DEVIL that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the BEAST and the FALSE PROPHET are, and SHALL BE TORMENTED DAY AND NIGHT FOR EVER AND EVER.  And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from Whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

"And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.  This is the second death.  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:10-15)

HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS!  Jesus invites, "Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

MAY THE GRACE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE LOVE OF GOD THE FATHER
AND THE FELLOWSHIP AND COMMUNION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT BE WITH
US ALL, BOTH NOW AND FOREVERMORE.

If you have called upon the Lord Jesus to save you or accepted Him as your Lord and Savior and believe that he died to atone for your sins personally, then tell someone; make it known and begin studying his word, the King James Bible.  Find a good Bible-believing church for fellowship with like-minded believers.

More than 70% of health care spending is publicly funded through general tax revenues.

The provinces and territories generate 78% of the cost, with the federal government providing the rest through the Canada Health Transfer (CHT). The original health care funding split between the federal and provincial governments was a 50/50 split

Health care eats up 30% to 40% of provincial and territorial budgets, and those costs are expected to increase at an average annual rate of 5.2% over the next decade — much faster than projected revenues.

Gentlemen, Universal Health Care in Canada is in  jeopardy - unsustainable?

However, Kanadians have seen  the enemy and it  is complacency - only themselves to blame.

Opinion: Canada slides downward in life expectancy rankings | Calgary Herald

we have fallen from 5th in the world for life expectancy down to 22nd in the world. The role that the liberal federal government has played in this is significant, funding was largely cut under Trudeau and remains low at this time and immigration was such that it's significantly exceeded our medical ability to keep up.

We already knew that the liberals had severely impacted our quality of life and that our GDP to capita ratio was low. But now we find that we're not even getting as much life as we should be in the first place

The liberals have literally been the death of Canada and Canadians

The title is misleading. Life expectancy has gone up in Canada over that period.

You didn't and no it doesn't.

Going up or down one or two places is closer to a rounding error. Dropping 18 places is a loss.

As usual you weren't interested in the truth to begin with you were just being a twat and now you've been exposed yet again for being a twat.

You were desperately hoping that I was wrong and a quick Google search gave you a moment of hope and now it's been crushed again.

Just for a mo can we revisit Justin's decision to import 500K immigrants / year?

Was that guy stupid, incompetent or both?

Neither depending on your perspective

His intention for doing that was to cover up the failures of his economy. Large numbers of immigrants tend to artificially boost the GDP provided it continues. It's a bit of a Ponzi scheme but   it does work. Of course it tends to lower the GDP per capita which creates massive problems later on but he was focused on looking good at the time

So from his perspective it achieved what it was supposed to do. I'm sure he thought it was a great idea. The fact that it had severe financial consequences and Healthcare consequences for Canadians wouldn't have been a factor for him
