Just a time wasting empty gesture.

House Republicans have passed new rules that allow leaders to prevent such resolutions from getting a vote in that chamber, and Trump could veto the legislation even if it did clear Congress.

Not when the SCOTUS rules the POTUS doesn't have the authority to implement tariff taxes. AKA needs Congressional approval.

Don't you know that's what was argued before the SCOTUS starting Nov. 5th? The decision is due any day now.

Unless Congress enforces its legislative power, the President can and will flex his executive authority. That authority was abdicated to the president in Trade Act 1974.

I generally don’t agree with tariffing Canada as they are economically another state. That’d be taxing ourselves, but given Canada’s episodic anti-American mental illness. It’s at least temporarily justified. Probably should lift tariff on them eventually though.

In reality, ANYONE CHARGED can contest the validity of the tariff they are being charged because Congress is the ONLY entity empowered by the Constitution to charge tariffs and the POTUS has NO such authorization.

LOL...I do enjoy watching you tear at robo's sanity...

Be that as it may...I believe I suggested, long ago when this all started, that the tariffs were mostly a political move by the Trump administration and would not be permanent. More of a "threat" or a "club" to use on Canada to bend to certain issues they apparently had.

It worked too. We elected "Elbows Up" who promptly got on his hands and knees to kiss "The King's" shoes like this:

The whole thing is so fcking hilarious. The Canadian electorate has been had and for those who voted for this...common carnival barker...the knowledge must erk at them. Its that or they're just pain dull.

Its so lonely in m'saddle since m'horse died.

You never get past surface level understanding, do you?

"The power to impose tariffs has been delegated to the President through several laws, notably the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, which allows the President to impose tariffs for national security reasons. Additionally, the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) has historically enabled the President to negotiate trade agreements and adjust tariffs without further congressional approval."

Don't you think that if I were wrong that I would know it?

You don't know what you're talking about. We've avoided WWIII for 80 years by implementing and leading the world's greatest defensive alliance.

You know, the one that Trump threatening to destroy along with world peace.
