Quote The earth has reached its first catastrophic tipping point linked to greenhouse gas emissions, with warm water coral reefs now facing a long-term decline and risking the livelihoods of hundreds of millions of people, according to a new report. The report from scientists and conservationists warns the world is also “on the brink” of reaching other tipping points, including the dieback of the Amazon, the collapse of major ocean currents and the loss of ice sheets. But some experts have questioned the report’s claims about the fate of coral reefs, with one saying while they are in decline there is evidence they could remain viable at higher temperatures than suggested. 2:03 Tracing the worst coral bleaching event in recorded history – video Tipping points are recognized by scientists as moments when a major ecosystem reaches a point where severe degradation is inevitable. 1 Quote

Doesn't say "point of no return." Man can bring the reefs back with heroic measures once the temps go down. Just VERY EXPENSIVE. Maybe pay for that with a tax on fossil fuels. 💡 1 Quote

This is all that your nonsense has accomplished. You confirmed my comment... can't fix it. We're an emitter of greenhouse gases and are doing the right thing for the world in trying to reduce those. That's not stupid, it's being responsible. China is still a developing nation that has also has also invested $6.8Trillion in clean renewable energy projects. What does that tell you for future of energy in that country? The need for fossil fuels is not going away any time soon, it's just becoming less and will continue to as energy projects shift towards renewable projects. Climate change is unequivocal. There may be such a thing, but it's too dramatic a term... There are a LOT of potential tippling points. Like when sea ice declines and the darker ocean absorbs heat instead of reflecting it. Or the permafrost melts and releases vast quantities of GHG stored in rotting organic matter. Do you know what will happen if the ocean currents shut down? I doubt that will be good. Quote
