Trump: "It's an honor to have the prime minister of Canada, Mark Carney, who I have made very popular. He's an extremely popular prime minister and I'm very honored to do it because I like him."

For all you twats who think that it was PP who was trump's stooge.  Carney was trump's man since the beginning, and you all got played.

Trump completely played lefties in Canada. 😂

He did. The same people that demanded that you don't want a politician to run the government, you want a former businessman with global experience are the same ones who forgot that trump who they hate is a former businessman with global experience :)

He reeled them in like a trout.

Now trump gets all the tariffs he wants without fear of retaliation and carney will bend over and take it, and the left still has no clue how badly they were manipulated.

Trump's just saying the quiet part out loud now

The man has no respect for Carney. He obviously considers him a minion

Imagine if Governor Poolaver was there with Trump getting his ass handed to him...

Not sure what you were watching but sure seemed to me that Trump has a lot of respect for Carney who hasn't bent to his wishes and appears ready to get things ironed out and behind them for now.  If it's not the right deal Carney will and should walk.

Don't let optimism get in the way Shady. Keep hoping for Canada to fail.

If Poilievre Were prime minister there be no need for him to be down there because this would have already been resolved.

Trump disrespected him to his face and treated him like an underling. It is plain to anyone with a brain that trump considers him to be an employee, not an equal

There's no need to hope. We're already there

I agree. Governor Poilievre would have settled the matter immediately.

If Trump played Canadians to get Carney elected, he must have really played Canadian Trumpers. How embarrassing for you! lol

This sort of batshit coping logic is majestic to behold.

Trump thought to himself:

"Knowing how unpopular I am in Canada, I should publicly endorse Mark Carney, because I sure would hate for the Conservative candidate who mimics my slogans and shares my politics to win the election.  That would just be the WORST!"

Because Carney is as to deal with.

Certainly quicker. You stand up to bullies they tend to back down. It only drags out when you fall on your knees for them the way that carney has. He he would have been very different

Why? Most conservatives in Canada agreed that we needed Poilievre who was speaking against trump. Trump said he didn't like Poilievre. Trump specifically said he'd be better off with Carney. And that certainly turned out to be true! Trump is definitely better off with carney, sadly Canadians or not :)

We knew that trump was telling the truth when he said he was going to do what was best for America. We knew he was telling the truth when he said that carney was his choice. And we knew that Poilievre would stand up to trump a lot more effectively. So unfortunately it was just the liberals that got played.

Canadian Trumpets will be remembered as the stupidest people ever. Even stupider than the American ones

By the voices in your head perhaps  :)

But for the most part they've been right all along. They said that trump would be the best choice for America and they appear to be correct. They said that Canada needed their own version of trump who would be tough enough to stand up for Canada and not bend the knee and open them out every time trump wanted something, and that appears to be correct as well. Unfortunately the Americans did get trump and we did not get anyone strong enough to stand up to him

I watched that get together.

Trump blustering his way over everyone, the Carney clutching his pearls and trying and failing to look strong.

The body language from both men told a tale of two opposite's. One of strength and one of tail between the legs.

The constant false laughs from the Carney was cringe worthy.

I think the only way to even begin talks with trump is to stroke his huge ego...Carney failed to really do this and is now getting it right....

Carney will agree to what ever it takes to get a deal....as mentioned already that will include dairy...according to trump...so we will wait and see....trump also said Canadians will go home happy so who knows what is going to happen tomorrow...But at least talks are starting once again...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

I have a bit of a different take on this.  I think Trump has more than a little respect for Carney since he represent two of the most corrupt, greedy, wealthy and powerful institutions - both with direct affiliations (Goldman Sucks and the Vatican for those wondering).

It's worth noting that trump used the Canadians will be happy and will like us again lines during Carney's last visit. We didn't get very far since then

I think some of the American states are pressuring trump but even he has to know that carney can't exactly instruct Canadians to start liking America again we're buying their products

Yeah, and we'd have a Fuccking terrible deal and astronomical tariffs on everything.

So you mean your beloved orange idol screws our economy over and it's Carney's fault because if we had the ex-paperboy and Telus phone solicitor negotiating for us this would have had this solved immediately...  Is that what you're trying to say, or is it just that you have nothing else?

This isn't Carney's first rodeo. He knows how to play the guy.

How can you possibly say 'Carney will agree to whatever it takes to get a deal'?  Really, then why isn't there a deal by now...  The facts suggest that Carney has held his ground, has not bowed to US demands and is not going to agree to anything unless it's to Canada's benefit.  How do the facts of what we know suggest otherwise?

Trump has a lot of pressure from States and business coming at him over his stance with Canada and tariff policy which is obviously helping our position.  This will get hammered out and faith in Carney to get Canada the best deal possible.

Please take your "I love a Carneyval" rhetoric elsewhere. The clowns are now running the zoo.

"Latter", another word whose meaning eludes you, at most you always seem to defy your own logic.

Carney commits to a trillion dollars of investment by Canada in the USA over the next 5 years.

- Trump's tariffs are still in place.

Oh dear.
