The Republicans are in a tricky spot. They had to bring Smith in for questioning to please their master but that may end up revealing a lot more about why he brought charges against Trump in the first place. Putting him on TV would not be a good move.

The reason he brought charges was because the evidence was there to convict Trump. He is happy to explain those reasons to Americans willing to listen. It’s a simple matter, really.
