Now that the FN people consider him a "colonizer V2.0", the unions hate him, and he's just biting the pillow for Trump while our economy plummets, I wonder how high his "polling" numbers are 😂

I don't do snotty insults, that is the purview of confux and you.  I do not insult you, I’m describing you.

Pretty sad when confux needs a surrogate to assist his failure LOL.

I think you actually enjoy talking to (and baiting) this particular fish... and with a 30 second memory capacity it  can't seem to reason that out. It invariably gobbles up every worm in sight and wonders why its mouth is sore.

Right on. I give the fool a way out but he cannot even realize it and keeps on and on and me, well, cut and paste in a few seconds just baits him on. All he has to do is stop but.....:)

Thank you for bringing only poster on this thread to point this out.

Also noted that no one has accused the Carney liberals as being "leftist" in this thread.

I take no side in this impasse but seems to me no charter rights have been trampled given our Canadian labour code.  AC carry's far too many people and critical supplies that our economy and people depend on for it to be grounded.  They've been negotiating since March and are not close, say they're at an impasse, so need an arbitrator involved. If the flight attendants have the strong case they say they do then I'd trust the arbitrator would recognize that in the binding settlement.

Liberals have made to common now to trample of unions right to strike.  The fact that the law allows a minister to decree people back to work subverting their rights doesn’t make it right.

“Section 107 has been in the Canada Labour Code for more than 40 years but using it has become more common particularly in the last year.

The Canadian Labour Congress says the Liberals have resorted to section 107 eight times since June 2024, including to prevent a strike by WestJet mechanics, and to end strikes or lockouts at the country’s two main railways, ports in Montreal and Vancouver and temporarily a strike and lockout at Canada Post.

I understand that.  Doesn't change the fact that both parties said they were at an impasse and ultimately resolved in 9 short hours. Union appears good with it, AC appears good with it....win/win and inconvenienced people and goods can get back to travelling.

What's telling is the lack of progress since March followed by an immediate settlement in the face of an unanticipated "real strike."

Had the government not intervened, and had AC known up front that it wasn't going to, the strike wouldn't have happened at all IMO.

In essence, I think that's what people who blame the government are saying and if so, I tend to agree. AC's tactic here was to use negotiations as a delaying tactic to maintain the status quo (on a 10 year old contract) as long as possible and go directly to arbitration when that tactic eventually failed.

For them, the threat of strike action was really no threat at all... until it was. Pretty hard to argue that the collective bargaining process is alive and well under those circumstance... I think.

Which... could mean that we see more unions defying back-to-work orders ?

Wow... it's the 1970s again...

At least it will give Poilievre something to chew on.  But then again just as many private union members support the Conservative Party of Canada as they do the NDP.

I was surprised by that when I looked it up, but then again these are parties that direct their comments to 'workers' quite often.

Yeah.  I haven't actually been terribly subtle about that. I always tell him that i love his little hissy fits and honestly some of them actually make me laugh out loud.  He went 4 days reposting  "doing the same thing and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity" without realizing he was doing the same thing and hoping for a different result :)

However it's worth noting he behaves the same whether i'm baiting him or not.  There's lots of times i'll give a very honest and reasonable answer to something he said that simply and fairly politely shows why he may have been in error and that's enough to set him off.  You can't just have a reasonable discussion with him. He does it with others too.
