August1991 Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 Note to Carney advisors: Ontario is not Canada. Note to Poilievre: You coulda been a federal PM. 1 Quote
Michael Hardner Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 Doug Ford participated in the York Region PRIDE celebration. Mr. Canada was a poster here years ago who said that he was going to attend PRIDE in Toronto with a video camera to record men having public sex, so he could do his duty and submit the evidence to the police. 🤔 Okaaaaaay, Mr. Canada. Shortly after, Anthony banned him. Then a poster named taxme joined, using a VPN to mask his IP address. Taxme has never acknowledged being the same poster. 2 1 Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Michael Hardner

The man has a likability problem and is branded as such....it's not going to change. 2 Quote

herbie Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 (edited) Well if the federal Tories ever dump Poilievre and draft Doug Ford as leader, they'd do themselves a big favour. Imagine that, a leader actively Canadian who doesn't spend all his time shitting on everything about the country he wants to represent! Edited August 16, 2025 by herbie 2 1 Quote
LinkSoul60 Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 Ford would have got my vote the election before last, and serious consideration this election even after Carney came on the scene. Alas.... they have ongoing leadership problems and chose a guy this time who is simply not likeable no matter how hard he tries. 2 Quote

Mr PP was desperate to win so he copied the style of politics that has been recently successful for conservative politicians in America. Unfortunately for PP, most Canadians don't support gorilla oaf politics. Dougie at least knows how to play the game a lot better. Toronto and Ontario have cautiously embraced the Ford brothers, which tells you that Canadians aren't as left-leaning as some think. PP should have copied what works in Canada instead. A lot of Canadians really, really dislike the Liberal Party (provincially and federally). Just not as much as Trump BAHAHA! 1 Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.

So true.... 😂 Poilievre had this one in the bag and was happily moving along until Trump and then Carney showed up. For a career politician you'd have figured he would know how to pivot away from the political schtick he was using and that people were turned off with. Not a smart guy. Next Conservative leader up please... Ford definitely knows how to play the game. He's not your typical politician and maybe that's why Ontarian's and people from outside the province like him. Poilievre couldn't have copied him though simply because of the likability factor which Ford has, and Poilievre doesn't. Interested to see what Ford's political future is....but to Herbie's comment, the Tories should be knocking on his door to find out. Quote

I'll take your word for that because of PET's tenures and PP's recent failure. Yes, Carney lives in a different world than most Canadian's, as many/most PM's generally have. That's okay.... he just needs to understand the ordinary Canadian. Quote
Boges Posted August 27, 2025 Report Posted August 27, 2025 (edited) 53%!!!! DoFo could go down as the most successful Premiere in Ontario history. And to think, 10 years ago people thought he was just his late crack-smoking brother's wingman. Edited August 27, 2025 by Boges Quote

Boges said it, apparently he's taking French lessons; There are certainly barriers between Ford and Parliament Hill. For one, he has only Grade 9 French. But he’s taking lessons. “Comme ci, comme ça,” the premier answered when I asked how it was going. According to one insider, Ford is serious about a run and believes he can win without Quebec if he can connect in Alberta. https://torontolife.com/deep-dives/the-insatiable-political-ambitions-of-doug-ford/ 1 Quote

His entire campaign team really screwed him. They were the ones that took daily temperatures and polls and knew what was happening but did not make him move quickly enough. The nail in his coffin was the debate when he kept on and on about Trudeau and Carney matter of factly informed him Trudeau was not running any more LOL. Even then, it took him over a week to pivot and his team made the pivot a poor attempt and he lost all hope then.
