CdnFox Posted June 29, 2025 Report Posted June 29, 2025 This will probably end fairly well. This won't stoke the fires of racism at all I would say 🙄🙄🙄 I'm aware that the left is this stupid, but how??? 2 Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."

Are you really so IGNORANT you don't know that richer neighborhoods already pay higher taxes than poor neighborhoods and that poor neighborhoods are mostly minorities? Edwin Posted June 29, 2025 Report Posted June 29, 2025 Prejudice is to make a judgement about someone before the evidence is available. Therefore to tax someone based merely on race only is prejudice, for sure. Quote

Sorry, are you talking to the loser who just got elected and is suggesting taxing white people more? It was his idea, I never brought it up other than to quote him Quote He is ONLY proposing to increase the EXISTING DISCREPANCY due to ABILITY TO PAY. Nothing "racist" about acknowledging the FACT that minorities are poorer. Not all minorities are poor. And he specifically brought up white neighborhoods, not rich neighborhoods but white neighborhoods. It is 100% racist. 33 minutes ago, User said: If there is a stupid, immoral, dishonest, absurd, wrong, or disgusting position to defend, you can count on @robosmith to be there doing just that. CdnFox Posted June 29, 2025 Author Report Posted June 29, 2025 The challenge with this kind of thing is it's spreads racism like wildfire. Especially when the guy goes out of his way to mention white neighborhoods. White people feel threatened and they start looking to turn to groups that don't hate them, those groups have a bad habit of hating other people. This kind of thing is the worst possible thing America could do right now. At a time when they should be looking at building bridges and bringing people together you're finding new ways to drive wedges. Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."
SpankyMcFarland Posted June 29, 2025 Report Posted June 29, 2025 (edited) Voters are desperate for change which is why they can vote for a right-wing populist in one election and a left-wing candidate in the next. What they didn’t want was the status quo offered by the Democratic establishment - a disgraced, elderly politician backed by millions of dollars, much from right-wing sources. Mamdani sounded fairly out there on some proposals but he ran an energetic campaign, hardly surprising given the fact that he was literally half the age of his opponent. The Dems should have two priorities - to sweep away the gerontocracy and start listening to voters. Quote With a relentless focus on the cost of living, a relatable online presence and an army of volunteers tens of thousands strong, Mamdani – who would be the first Muslim mayor in the city’s history – defied conventional wisdom that said Cuomo – the 67-year-old scion of a prominent New York political family with a massive war chest – was invincible. And he did it in a way that many Democrats from across the ideological spectrum believe might offer a roadmap for winning back the voters they have lost touch with, in the first major primary election since Donald Trump reclaimed the White House. “The establishment, at this point, is suicidally clinging to a version of power it no longer even has,” said Amit Singh Bagga, a Democratic strategist and former New York City official. “We have made this choice to not evolve – and if you do not evolve, you will walk your party – and potentially our democracy – up to the brink of extinction.” https://www.theguardian.com/news/ng-interactive/2025/jun/29/does-zohran-mamdani-new-york-primary-victory-offer-roadmap-for-democrats Edited June 29, 2025 by SpankyMcFarland 1 Quote ‘How small we make our worlds. SpankyMcFarland Posted July 2, 2025 Report Posted July 2, 2025 (edited) When a relative unknown with no money thrashes a big beast like this it is well worth asking how it was done. Something dramatic happened here. Chris Hayes and Ezra Klein have quite a few thoughts on the matter: Quote The Democratic primary that just wrapped up in New York was a collision between two very different candidates on almost every level: ideologically, outsider versus insider and name recognition. But it was also a collision that I think matters, for much beyond New York City politics, of two very different theories of attention.Andrew Cuomo ran a campaign that was based on a tried-and-true strategy of buying attention. He had this gigantic super PAC with tens of millions of dollars purchasing all the advertising money can buy, absolutely dominating airwaves with negative ads about Zohran Mamdani. And then you had Mamdani, who was running a campaign on a very different theory of attention, a theory of viral attention, a campaign built on these vertical videos that, if you opened Instagram, if you opened TikTok, and you were in any way connected to his ideas or to New York City, this was all you saw. Hayes has just written a book on attention. He thinks the outcome is significant far beyond New York. Quote To level set, this is someone who had zero attention on him who went to monopolizing attention in the race. I think the way he did it was viral videos. It’s the first time I’ve seen a Democratic candidate be totally native to the medium of our time, which is short vertical videos in the algorithmic feed. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/28/opinion/ezra-klein-show-chris-hayes.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare Mamdani’s skill at making videos is hardly surprising given that his mother is a brilliant film-maker.
