CdnFox Posted Monday at 06:51 PM Report Posted Monday at 06:51 PM Move over housing: Canada’s young are facing a new crisis Short version, unemployment for young people is up to over 14%. That's the worst in over 20 years outside of the pandemic. That's worse than it was during the great recession that harper got us through. And the prospect's moving forward or even worse looking. The liberals over the last 10 years have utterly abandoned and shattered the youngest generation. They have no chance of affording a home, now they have little chance of getting a decent job. And the liberals have taken no action on either. It's no wonder these kids are switching to the tories but unfortunately that was not enough to help them solve their problems in the last election. The liberals are back in power and doing exactly the same things that cost these kids their futures, in fact it's getting worse. I honestly don't understand how liberal supporters can even live with themselves at this point. How do you look at this and feel good about voting for the liberals? These kids' future is gone and even if we start doing the right things now it's not coming back in the immediate short-term. Too much babying and not enough being taught that it is a cruel world out there and no one cares about them. In the 1970s and 1980s, the average age of first-time homebuyers was around 29. according to The Globe and Mail. A 2023 survey indicated that the average age of first-time homebuyers was increasing, with a significant portion being 35 . herbie Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Kid showed up on the weekend to cut my lawn... was gonna do it myslef but the little shit did it all in 1/2 an hour. I usually do the back one day, the front the nexr and take longer for each. He did it still wet and still did such a good quick job I gave him $30. Line up a few of those and that's more than his Dad makes at the mill. Meanwhile the grocery hires anyone who can walk OR chew gum... that's how desperate. And the tree planters are showing up this last week. But this retail stall out is happening at the worst time for summer jobs. Hopefully if local tourism booms, there may be some. Same guys here would be squawking if the govt actually hired a bunch of summer students and 'wasted' their precious tax dollars. Quote

Youth unemployment highest in 11 years: StatsCan | CBC News For the majority of kids they're just aren't any jobs. Also, unless your yards are actually insanely tiny, it is not possible for a kid to do a really good job of mowing the lawn while it's wet in half an hour and do all the proper trimming that goes along with it. You would basically barely have time to just push the lawn mower at high speed around the lawn and if it's wet you're probably doing it damage. I doubt you'd be aware enough to understand the difference Now let's add on some travel time between jobs and getting set up and so on and so forth and basically even at the rate you have proposed you're looking at roughly $30 an hour not including the cost of lawn mowers and gas. And that's after doing all the work necessary to go and set all of these places up. And they would need 40 customers in relatively close proximity to earn a full-time wage for the summer. That's not a few people, that's a lot of work and a lot of customers So as usual your fake ass examples don't hold up in the real world. A kid could start up a little business like that and get a handful of customers and fortunately most people aren't quite as exploitive as you are and wouldn't pay as little as $30. But you're not going to make that much money and if every kid I was out there trying to get lawn mowing gigs the market gets saturated pretty quick The reality is they're just aren't a lot of gigs for kids right now. It's getting really hard for them Meanwhile carney is off traveling the world on $1,000 a plate meals making more than half a million a year and can't even be bothered to put in the energy necessary to do a budget that might help these children's future at some point Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
