Even the CBC's Rosemary Barton couldn't ignore it, and she's a shoo-in for a Liberal senate seat the day she retires. "[As someone] who spent most of his life in the private sector, there's no possible conflict of interest in your assets?" Barton asked. "That's very difficult to believe." For someone like Barton, whose entire career stems her shameless hagiography of liberal candidates, that about-face makes Brute's back-stabbing look like a vote of confidence. I don't think it will make much of a difference to this election, the CBC will just pimp the next LPOC candidate that much harder. If he is really dropping out, I think it has more to do with his ability to keep his head above water in a debate than any conflicts of interest that he has... If we want such people in politics we need to give them some leeway on this. Somebody even mentioned the use of tax havens.
