godzilla Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 admittedly, when you are hard "right" then... everything is "left"! whats the defining feature of a centrist? whats right of centre? 1 Quote
CdnFox Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 If there's one guy in the room and everyone else is beating the snot out of him, that's the centrist This isn't complicated. I'm not even sure why you're asking. A centrist takes modern views from both the left and the right. Believes in fiscal responsibility to a degree but aren't that worried about it or balancing a budget. They believe in some social programs but don't believe the government should be overly involved in people's lives. There is no defining feature. If you were to claim there was one some would say that it's the fact that the centrist won't commit to any particular political viewpoint and represents the so called mushy middle. centre right usually refers to people who are more fiscally conservative and don't believe in excessive regulation but are more socially liberal than conservatives who are farther right. godzilla Posted January 17 Author Report Posted January 17 great answer! so why wouldn't everyone be a centrist? Quote

eyeball Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 31 minutes ago, CdnFox said: Because there's literally people stupid enough to think things like this. Actually it's pretty ingenious. Take one look at the litter of prominent conservatives in the wake of MAGA, the Cheney's and David Frum, Romney and others. And then there's the conservatives around here that have been cancelled as Marxists/Commies/whatever by the likes of people such as yourself - Queenmandy...Moonbox... Aristides... It's pretty clear to me the right is on the move and seems inclined to keep moving in that direction. Democrats were once regarded as being more like Progressive Conservatives than anything else comparable in Canada but sure as shit, now Democrats are also Marxists. The whole thing is your idea of being clever when in fact it just highlights your complete lack of understanding. People who lack understanding very frequently turn to kitchy phrases that they think sound deep and profound when in reality they just simply aren't. Kamala harris was perhaps the greatest offender of this. Conservatism is just a set of principles that people apply to political issues in order to create a position or policy. You need to make it more than that in order to propagate the idea That is something else and has a life of its own. That is after all the first step towards demonizing something. This is why it's almost impossible to have a reasonable political discourse anymore. Quote

In a discusssion about dairy products you insisted no one mentioned anything to do with milk You spent 10 pages insisting that 100 - 50 wasn't 50. You disputed a medical study by posting your own medical study you'd found... which said exactly the same thing as the first one I could go on for ages! And every time you lose you chase me all over the forum crying your little eyes out and complaining about my post count Sorry this was probably too long for you. I forgot that i've got to give you time to sound out each word LOLOLOL Quote

You're the biggest no-life loser this forum has seen in 25 years, and it's not even close. The best part about it? You know it's true, and that's why you puke out these useless rants to convince non-existent readers otherwise. Yeah, that's not on here that's when you're asleep and dreaming The only one you've ever knocked down with one sentence is yourself. Usually when you're posting something that proves you wrong because you didn't read it carefully LOL Your biggest problem is emotional instability. Often you'll start off if one or two halfway decent points and our exchange will be friendly but the moment you realize one of your points is faulty you spiral into a full meltdown and then it's basically just an exercise of making fun of you for the next couple of pages. If you'd learn to think a little before you typed, did a tiny bit more research before you got into an argument, and didn't have meltdowns that turns your brain into mush you might actually be interesting to talk to. As it is though I really do enjoy the comedic value you bring to the forum Quote
WestCanMan Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 In my experience there are very few "centrists", but the majority of people who declare themselves as such, usually only do so deceptively, to lend their anti-"them" arguments an air of legitimacy. Is there anyone on this site who hasn't consistently sided with either conservatives or libs? Awww muffin At least you rarely provide cites that prove yourself wrong, (or any at all for that matter), you just go straight to saying dumb things to start with and wind up having to false quote people just to have something to argue with Quote
