my favourite quote from this ideological dog whistle word salad from PP:
"all socialist policies in practice redistributes from the working class to the super wealthy"

hilarious!

"ideologies are failed religions" - Jordan Peterson

of course, that was before he started making big money from "failed religions".

Shouldn't there be tons of evidence of corruption and incompetence available here already?

I often get the sense the it'll-be-worse-than-we-imagined sentiment is like an advance on the apologies we can expect in the face of little to no progress on the same important issues during Poilievre's term.

He'll be able to lean on this sentiment for about half a term after which everything will start being his fault.

We can start with the $400m green slush fund. Ever wonder why the libs won't turn over the evidence? Them move on to the arrivecan app, and the lists goes on.

Because they have something to hide and they also have the procedural means by which to hide it

If you right wingers were so concerned about this you'd put measures in place that prevent it from happening.

Ever wonder why you don't?

Because if you did then you wouldn't be able to avail yourselves of the same opportunities.

  1. In a 2-hr interview she found very few things to be critical of, and she wasn't even on-point with those
  2. If that was a CBC/CTV reporter talking to Trudeau they would be lying for him, denigrating the opposition, downplaying the extent of his ethical breaches, lying about the strength of the economy, etc.

Conservatives are not the government and don't run the bureaucracy and are not in a position to control how government spends money.

They didn't.  It wasn't hidden, it was found.  But many liberal voters still want to vote for them anyway because 'me liberal'.

He's blaming harper. Now I point out that harper actually did put a bunch of measures in place and in fact that's how the snc lavalin scandal happened because Trudeau ran a foul of one of harper's new laws.

He will then freak out and claim that despite the fact that it worked and despite the fact that Justin was caught the law was still a failure because it might not have worked maybe possibly under different circumstances.

I will point out that it did work and even still despite the fact that everyone knew that Justin was guilty of some horrible things the liberal voters and left-wing supporters like @eyeball  STILL voted him back into power.

So there's really not much point in adding more laws because even when the liberals get caught losers like this guy will still support them anyway.

They actually found actionable crimes? Who's been charged, what are the charges, when's the trial start?

I can't wait!

They are when they're in power. They've had ample opportunities to put measures in place that prevent politicians from breaking the law.

The trial starts at the next election. Same as the last ones. That's where gov'ts get punished. I mean the aga khan was an actionable crime, this is hardly new.

So we'll see if FINALLY after a decade of liberal criminal activity you and your friends are finally willing to at least PRETEND to do something to get rid of the criminals.

I'm all for voting I just don't think it's an effective way to prevent corruption.

I suppose losing an election is a sort of punishment but it has no deterrent effect whatsoever.

But there has never been, and will never be, a government in this country that will actually push any type of prosecution upon a previous government.  Not sure if that's a "professional courtesy", fear of the electorate freaking out, or just a "we can't do that because then they'll do it to us the next time they're in power".

The problem with laws in this country is the next government just changes them anyway...see: mandatory minimums from Harper.

Freaking out the electorate is certainly top of mind with politicians and lobbyists - it's why they disappear behind closed doors for 'frank' discussions. Talking frankly with the electorate is verboten.

Maybe this sentiment is beginning to wither with the increase in lawfare.

If that's the only recourse then I'm good with it. It's still all after the fact but better late than never.

Well that would be thanks to our liberal and left-wing justice system. Your side's going to have to wear that :)

which is an absolutely wonderful excuse. As long as you keep repeating that till you believe it then you can vote for whichever corrupt party you want and pretend that it doesn't matter.

The ONLY reason democracy became popular was to provide for a way to prevent corruption WITHOUT having to resort to civil war.  That's literally the point of it.

It is the ONLY way to prevent corruption. Which is why you on the left are so desperate to prevent people from thinking of it that way.

If all the parties knew that behaving in a corrupt fashion would get them reduced to zero seats next election they would be so careful to avoid it that corruption would be reduced to a fraction of what it is.
