Or else delay it till May.  Not sure whatr will happen but , the workers are already 5 weeks without pay and Canada Post backlog will never be cleared before Christmas.

I think by May, Canada Post will have restructured itself and there will be far fewer workers and they have no recouse becasue their demands for job security will not be met.

"On Friday morning, federal Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon announced he’s asking the board to order Canada Post employees back to work and he is appointing an “industrial inquiry commission,” which will have until May 22 to probe potential ways to reach a new contract agreement."

I wonder if the NDP will keep their word, and support a call for an election.....Nah, he does not have the balls, he knows he would be throwing away his pension....that and he knows his words don't mean much to canadians...except those that are already morally bankrupt....Lets see what happens....i got 5 bucks that says, he'll have a press conference blow some hot air, but will not be supporting anything other than the liberals....and Union workers will see him for what he is

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Doesn't matter. The Cons would have to vote against ending the strike.
You think cutting their own noses off will help them? Force a mid-winter election by being the Grinch That Stole your Christmas parcels?

There won't be any voting here.  I don't think they're being forced back by leglslation.

This has nothing do with the cons, they (conservatives)are going to do what it takes to get an election....This is about NDP leader keeping his word...to those union workers...Thats what he promised, he would end this government if they forced the union back to work....so now it is his word or his pension....and i'm betting it is his pension because thats the kind of guy you voted for....

don't be foolish he isn't gonna  cause an election for PP to sweep into power with a majority which he will have 0 policy say in over  keeping this government going and having a influence i don't blame him either.

Oh ya he has a lot of say so far, liberals have given him peanuts , which more an likely every he got will be rescinded by the conservatives...His word means nothing , he pumped up his chest and told those union workers he stood behind them, and would call an election if Justin sent them back to work...He does not care about union workers , he cares about his pension...he's no better than those slimy liberals...

He's going to be lucky to keep his seat, let alone anything else....

You're talking to people completely unaware of what politics actually is.
Parties are supposed to stick to their dogma and just oppose no matter how bad it is for the country or their own survival.
Just like the 'objectiveness' shown by blockheads when even though a company has had a year to negotiate and didn't, was given mediation and still didn't will still place all blame on the unions for striking even if it's the only option they have. As they in the same breath spout their hatred of dictators but insist the govt force ends to strikes because the company will not negotiate in good faith. This is the third instance of that this year, pretending you can't negotiate with workers leave that to govt and they'll get you a better deal.

In other words he didn't rip up the deal and it's still on, he's still going to support the liberals all the way to the end despite having claimed otherwise.

So he's a dishonest liar. No wonder you like him :)

You've had to have basic politics explain to you so many times it's not even funny :)

He's not going to have power after the next election no matter what happens. It's quite obvious that Poilievre is going to win a majority. It's really a question of how strong a majority.

So his job right now normally as NDP leader would be to try and steal as many seats as humanly possible to position his party for the election after that. If he could substantially increase his seat count and he could challenge the Liberals for opposition and even stand the modest chance of forming government in the election after the next one if he did well in the next one.

That is how politics actually works.

But he doesn't care if the NDP crashes and burns. He is furiously leading them to their worst showing in many decades. He's probably going to lose more seats again and possibly a fair number of them. And he will probably have the CPC a number of seats by splitting the vote with the liberals Instead of trying to go strong enough to win the Riding.

He is in it 100% for his pension. After that he expects to lose the leadership and he will remain for a few more years as a sitting MP and then leave and pocket buckets of cash.

That's how politics works

If this is what the left stands for then no thanks, most people on here including some on the left have agreed presently todays liberals and NDP have lost everything that was once good about their parties...as for the NDP who tout being their for Canadian workers, that their leader stood up in front of union workers and proudly boasted he would call an election if the government forced them back to work....was nothing more than words which now mean nothing for those union workers where do you think their votes are going....Politicians can say and do what eever they want, but their bottom line is normally votes....in the ndp case it is pensions ...

Canada post is a federal run department, one that has held canadians hostage during most x-mas breaks...perhaps it is time to privatise this department, they could join CBC workers on the unemployment line...

No. Just that most people on this forum think they have. Because they themselves would never support anyone other than the Cons. And believe other people are just like them, true believer zealots that can't possibly change their minds ever.
Like, the people who think it's time for change don't exist, no one votes Tory this time and Liberal another time. And that anyone who voted for NDP this time would never, ever vote against them another.
As the continued fever dream of wishing and imagining parties would vote against their own interests that pops up so often on this forum.

Those unable to concede the majority doesn't know how politics work, don't know what govt can and can't do and in rough times usually just wants to lash out at whoever's in power.
