Umm.. yeah- any new leader gets that 'new leader' bump.  It's like saying "did i mention the ball rolled downhill?"

But this is why they're not letting her do press conferences or answer questions, they want to milk that 'new leader shine' for a bit without risking it. 

She SHOULD get a little bit more of a slight bump at least as a result of the convention. Lots of media attention and she'll have access to a teleprompter. 

After that is when the real race begins. 

The problem for harris is she went up about 4-5 points on that basis (biden was behind trump by about 2 , harris us up on trump by about 2 and some have it closer than that) but a LOT of that came in states they were already going to win.  California is huge on harris.... but that gives them nothing. New york etc.  That doesnt' help. 

She did close the gap in a few of the battlefields and now trump is ahead by a tiny margin.  But right now based on the polls, trump wins the election 235 to 226

We'll see what happens starting in September

So Trump gave his first press conference in seven months or so and suddenly, not giving a press conference every minute is some kind of crime. Riiiight. 

She’s climbing and Trump is falling. And trying to get people to vote for the 5-time draft dodger over the 24 year veteran by attacking the veteran’s military service is only going to backfire and cost you guys more support.

Trump has been interviewed by the press constantly over the last seven months and given tonnes of interviews. 

AND - he wasn't the presumptive nominee till recently.

The aggregates don't.   Unless by 'up' you mean she's doing better than biden was which is true.

If he can make it about Kamala, her past statements, her fear of talking to the media, her policy etc etc.  and the fact that harris walz is just about the most radical ticket the US has seen, then he wins.  If its him blathering about banalities and who's what race, or if it becomes all about him, he loses.

in any case as i believe i mentioned to you it would be weird for a new leader to not get a bit of a bump. And she's got her nomination convention coming up which will basically be a half time show in her honour which should give her another little push. 

But that support is very soft.  That 'new leader smell' wears off quick and she's going to have to face the media and trump at some point. 

And she's not all that well loved with the dems. Remember - she had to quit before winning even a single primary vote in 2019-2020. 

But hey - far be it from me to deny your lack of reason the chance to enjoy this blissful moment of hopefulness before reality comes crashing down later   

It's going to be a tight race and trump has the edge.  SHe could win, that's not impossible, but she's a terrible candidate and if she's forced to actually address the public she's done.

In the polls that I have been looking at.. Harris is ahead by the slimmest of margins. That does not mean much to myself. That could easily change next week or next month.
