ummm - i'm on the "ukraine" side in this, i've had pretty extensive disagreements with both about this.  I also believe that regardless of how it started it's to our advantage to pay pennies on the dollar for a war we don't lose people in to keep russia weak because they're a threat and neither of them agree with me on that.

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to insist on a post war strategy… which takes zero resources while executing the war. And telling them to show plans for minimizing unnecessary casualties is a Geneva Convention anyway.  I don’t see how it’s given Hamas any advantage in this fight.

As for whether we should firebomb the Gazans, my opinion is that Israel should wage war until they unconditionally surrender.  If they don’t, Hamas will stroll right back in and attack Israel again.  That is 100% not acceptable.  So if 2,000 bombs don’t work, use 5,000 bombs.  They need to surrender and that’s that.

Bottom line: if you're fetching ammo or weapons, or hiding them, loading mags, creating bombs, providing bomb-making materials to terrorists (or even soldiers), etc., then they're a legitimate military target, not a mere 'woman'. 

Just remember, Gaza is only about 25 miles long and 6 miles wide. Anyone who wanted to escape the war could have easily walked out by day 5. We're at month 10.

And I was being ridiculously fair when I said "boys over 16"... They train kids a lot younger than 16 to hate and kill. They just don't put them in uniforms, that way when they die it looks like the Israelis are to blame, not the gazans.

The undisputable fact of the matter is that when Gazans say "X-number of women and children were killed", that means .25X female soldiers/support troops, .25X 'child-soldiers', and the rest were kept around to be meat shields. 

 

The Israelis have no choice but to de-fang Gaza, because they can't just allow cheap rockets to keep coming in by the tens of thousands, but it's a delicate process, and it looks like they didn't manage to do it without riling up Iran and Hezbollah to the point where a massive escalation is about to take place.

My guess is that a massive pre-emptive strike from Israel is coming. Iran is expecting it too, that's why they warned civilian aircraft to stay out of their airspace: they're going to be aggressive about shooting down anything that moves.

Fact: If a 17 year-old Palestinian fires an RPG at an Israeli tank and the RPG explodes, Hamas officially reports it as a “civilian child casualty.” 
 

Insisting on sharing plans and ensuring that noncombatant casualties are minimized in those plans hurts Hamas. Their only real weapon is the deaths of their own innocents, which Hamas has caused.
