robosmith
Johnson Pushes Bill to Support Trump After Guilty Verdict Quote House Republican leaders are whipping votes on a bill aimed at showing allegiance to former President Trump after his historic conviction — but it’s unclear if they can secure the needed support. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is under pressure from GOP hardliners to schedule a vote on the measure as part of a full-court press to defend Trump, so any difficulty locking down votes could once again put him in their crosshairs. The bill would allow current or former presidents to move state-level charges against them into federal court. It’s in direct response to Trump’s conviction last week in New York. Johnson wants to codify making former POTUS above the law. 🤮

Giving former POTUS special privileges means "above the law" which applies to everyone else. Along the same lines as Trump's claimed "total immunity" for crimes committed in office. That's not above the law. Lots of people have special privileges when it comes to venue. All they're talking about is moving it away from partisan courts and into a federal court which is inevitably going to be slightly less partisan as a rule. I mean let's face it, if trump had been tried anywhere else in the entire country he would have been innocent. Considering that now political opponents are fair game targets for democrats having the ability to force a change of venue helps disrupt their anti-democratic methods of coming up with fake charges to throw at political opponents by rigging where the trial is heard

How is that above the law? Do you question the legitimacy of the federal justice system now?!

No, not just Donald Trump. Spend more time focusing on your ignorance or integrity and less name-calling. To my point, this doesn't make anyone above the law. Do you not grasp that simple concept? Rebound
2 minutes ago, User said: Biden. Although he is basically dead... Biden has not been charged in any state court, so this law does not affect him. It only affects the convicted felon. A better approach is simply don’t commit crime, and don’t vote for criminals.
