Last year was a brutal winter with below average temperatures.  Does that mean we had global cooling?

This is the reason so few take climate change seriously.

When it's cold - "HEY, THATS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH CLIMATE CHANGE, CLIMATE CHANGE ISN"T ABOUT WEATHER.

When it's hot -  "SEE????? YOU SEEEEEE THE CLIMATE CHANGE?!?!? IT"S RIGHT THERE IN THE WEATHER!!!!!"

Any bad weather deviating from their liberal progressivist, white-supremacist golden mean is a problem.

The effect really isn't debateable . We have hard data now. It's useless.  You have to very specifically cherry pick numbers and avoid other numbers to even make it look like it's working at all.  It just isn't.

The idea in the beginning was that energy costs were "elastic" and people could make changes to use less and spend less if incentivised.  This turned out to be completely false, and it's not elastic at all.  People still have to heat their homes. People still have to drive to work and to pick up the kids.  So what they do is cut back in other areas. Like the quality of their food.

We know at this point the tax has failed. Other solutions would be necessary

I know, climate change deniers never cherry pick and avoid other numbers. ?

“The analogy I could give you is if you’re a smoker, and the ads on TV say smoking is bad for you…and you don’t know how to change your behaviour, what you’ll do is simply shut down the TV,” said Pelletier. “You’re not going to listen to the ads, you aren’t going to pay attention to this. Why? Because you know it is bad for your health, but you don’t know how to fix this.”

Ahhh - so whataboutism is your answer  :)   well that makes sense :)

You prove my point nicely.  The numbers are in, taxes are useless, and there's really no argument against it other than to deflect :)

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data

I wasn't part of this discussion with you, until you felt the need to play White night to a retarded comment that climate change from humans doesn't exist.

Well I was part of the discussion with you. Was it retarded?

That's certainly not nice to use a pejorative referring to those who are mentally or physically otherwise abled.

Or was it pointing out what's retarded by someplace else, and you don't like it. Because it doesn't align with the climate change mantra from the main group. Someone's singing off key. They didn't harumph, when expected to harumph.

Which you then call retarded. Well my oh my, no big shocker not there.

No, I commented on why the data was suspicious.

Right, and I said because... Christian... is that it? What's your reaction to that word? Let me try it again.

Christian...

Christmas...

Yeah that's what I thought.

I have doubts about the tax, I'm not a cheerleader but it is hard to tell how much it has changed behaviours. I don't know what numbers you refer to, maybe you could provide a link.

Of course you will, like the man said, you will just turn off anything you don't want to hear.

Not listening to hysteria goes a long way to keeping your sanity, when all others around you start clucking and running around, screaming. Screaming... you know what they're screaming, Aristedes.

Go on...

In FACT only SOME will die from climate change. Duh

More and more as time passes and nothing is done.

Do you understand what a "tipping point" is yet?

What argument. There is no argument. There is zero proof the climate is an emergency worthy of an immediate and dumb about fact with power generation. All there is is panty-wastes screaming.

Its so lonely in m'saddle since m'horse died.

Ya, anything you don't want to hear is just hysteria. Just like the man said.

Wrong. I asked about the tipping point specified in the OP, TROLL.

You should just say "no, I understand NOTHING about climate science." That would be the truth.

Believe whatever you like to believe I am saying. That way you can say "Look- there is the bad man. There is why we cannot stop climate change." Then give yourself a pat on the shoulder for the great job you did. After years of you having tons of fun with cars, and I'm sure all sorts of plastics and e-waste, even despite we already knew not to back in the eighties, you now want your kids not to.

It's like, "Never smoke like me, son..." Blows smoke in kids face.

Hey, whatever helps you sleep better at night.

1. I'm not going to check back but I believe I was commenting on a stupid comment when you came in and defended it .

2. No, I made the comment about a statement not a person.

3. It seems to me that you're trying to extend this discussion by making it about something crazy that isn't there.  Or maybe you don't understand what cherry picking is.  Anyway, go get a real graph and stop trolling.  It's so annoying when you post below your intelligence just to get responses.

So whining about climate change does anything?

You can't force people to change, you can't shame people to change. You should incentivize change and innovation. Once you have the best possible product at an affordable rate, people will flock to it. Consumers won't give a crap that the globe has 20 years or whatever left.

People need to be pragmatic about this. Like I said, I couldn't care less. I do my part, so I don't understand how I should feel stress or guilty about this. If its my time, its my time O_o

What is "your part," that you're doing? Got an EV or Hybrid?

I guess you don't have kids, and see NO REASON to sacrifice ANYTHING YOU WANT to mitigate future climate costs like increased mega storms and droughts.

The problem is these "climate scientists" are constantly wrong and the liberals ideas are all or nothing. You have to make reasonable goals and stop the worst case scenario nonsense because all that happens is you all look like chicken little and people stop taking you seriously.

Yes I sensed you are annoyed today. Sorry if I don't chime along to the same tune as you. It is annoying when I dumb it down, but could it be that you are not reading the entire posts again, and not thinking a bit longer before getting angry, and stuff?

So in other words, it isn't dumb at all. Just you are not paying full attention, in your desire to lash out at us, chuds?

Could be.

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in particular and yes I have had fun with cars, still do. I guess my excuse is I can only drive one at a time regardless of how many I have. I quit smoking years ago after getting tired of being hassled by my kids who have never smoked. Neither did my wife.

We are depleting renewable resources 50% faster than the earth can replace them, it should be obvious that is not sustainable. We live in the world we have, not the one we would like. Pointing fingers won't change that.

Actually it is starting to turn out they were under estimating. Things are already happening that they hadn't forecast for a few decades from now.

Why do you keep editing my quote?

Plenty is being done. Change takes time. Eliminating fuel, takes generations. And you can't fully eliminate it, until you've replaced it with something that makes sense.

You seem to not recognize the huge costs coming from doing too little.

Do YOU understand what a tipping point is yet?

It's happening at ever faster rates as the technology improves and becomes cheaper.

Pay a little extra and buy a Hybrid. It'll save you money on gas, too.

Plastic recycling being a prime example, at people not being pragmatic.

Shaming people into plastic recycling, when most of it winds up in the landfill (over 95%). Corporations push their straw less alternatives and how they're helping the planet, but behind the smoke screens, all of this crap just about, is going in the garbage.

EV's are similar. Shame culture pushing this technology that still isn't ready for the prime time, yet hybrid technologies could dramatically reduce emissions while still keeping cars incredibly reliable. Same could be said with freight trucks.

Today's EVs are ready for prime time. I see hundreds on the road everyday.

I have a hybrid and won't get an EV until the batteries are cheaper and last longer.

I don't drive enough (<6k miles/year) for 50MPG to make a difference to the climate.

I'm saying left-wingers need to stop being hypocrites and move to the caves. If YOU think humans are killing the planet, then YOU meed to drop everything and get your ass to the caves.
