You finished with the most profound statment of this thread. "There are other things in everyday life that take priority to politic activities." That is very true.  Thank you.

Is there tho?

People had to travel away from their homes and families and die to protect our political system and independence.  Look at how badly a bad gov't has impacted our lives - is food a priority in everyday life? Is having somewhere to live? All that is being massively affected by politics.

Politics should be a fairly high priority in everyone's life. That's what 'democracy' means - getting off your butt and contributing. It's not like you need to sink time into it every day but if you're not putting in a real effort then things go sideways very quickly.

The world is run by those who show up.  Show up.

Massive national debt in the tens of billions.

Sending 4 billion dollars to the middle east since 2016.

Giving tens of billions of dollars to subsidize electric vehicle battery plants.

Increasing carbon taxes.

Slashing the Canadian Forces budget.

A carbon tax carve-out for Atlantic Canada.

The above were all provided for in the estimates. The deficit is a combination of the demand by the electorate to spend and the refusal of the electorate to pay for it. Mr. Poilievre's governments will have the same problem. Everyone wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die to get there.

Aid to the middle-east is there to help stabilize the region to avoid creating a vacuum that ISIS and the Taliban would love to fill. It was voted on in the estimates.

The subsidy for EV battery plants provides jobs that would otherwise go to the Americans.

The Carbon tax is rising in line with the estimates. If we don't give the people the incentive to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the government will be forced to bring in rationing and force people to stop burning fossil fuels. That is a possible course of action in the future if we don't start making the sacrifices required to save unborn generations from a hellish short life. It is not just global warming but if we use up our petroleum, coal and iron reserves, future generations will not have the resources needed to survive. God did not provide these resourses for our generation only. These resourses belong for future generations and were meant to last for thousands of years, not just a couple of centuries.

The National Defence budget is mostly wasted on things like conventional weapons to fight nuclear powers. Tanks, advanced air combat aircraft and frigates are cosmetic. We can save billions by building a large force of ICBM's.

The home heating oil carve out was forced on the government by MP's from Atlantic Canada. The government knew it was a bad idea but if they hadn't, the government would have fallen. See? MP's do have power.

So you admitting the people and taxpayers of Canada really have no say in all these things.

The carbon tax scam is built on an unproven claim that we are causing climate change.  It is highly unlikely.  We in B.C. have been charged carbon tax since 2008 and it has done absolutely nothing to slow climate change and it never will.

There are massive resources of fossil fuels in the earth that will last for the foreseeable future.  There are gas fields under the Artic that I don't think have been touched.  It is nonsensical to say we have to preserve fossil fuels for people centuries in the future.  It is unlikely we will even be here.  I believe along will countless other people that Jesus Christ will be returning in the near future.  Man may have a nuclear war not too far in future also and wipe out half the population or more on the earth, but I sure hope not.  Unfortunately Russia, N. Korea and possibly some others are threatening now.  Iran is a big threat.  So it is pointless to worry about the world's energy centuries from now.  Mankind may not even be here as we are now.

You said something about other religions being an acceptable thing.  I lost the exact wording.  I assume you have not read the New Testament.  There is only one true God and one correct truth.  They can't all be true.  If you believe that, you don't know the truth.  You need to find out.

A minor addition: if you have our salaries, benefits and pensions. Yes we can disconnect from the lowly reality and focus on other, important things. By the way, why wouldn't you just have the brioches?

That is not what I said. I said these things were approved by Parliament in the estimates.
The carbon tax in BC has had a positive effect on carbon emissions.
our petroleum reserves will only last for another 250 years at the present rate of per capita consumption. Coal will only last a thousand years. Considering we should be able to expect to be around for a lot longer than that, we need to think about what we are doing to the unborn.
When Jesus returns, he is going to be very disappointed in what we have done to our children.

The is an illusive and pointless exercise.  Mankind has to do what he has to do to survive now, not 250 years in the future.  I am sure if mankind is still here in 100, 150 or 250 years, he will have discovered ways of providing energy to survive.  It could well be nuclear power.  We can see how that would provide the power.  So it is silly to say we should stop using fossil fuels as our main energy source so there will enough centuries from now.  That is not how the world ever has worked.  We have 8 billion people on the planet and need to provide what they need now to survive.  Reducing fossil fuels would cause tremendous hardship, poverty, and difficulty in surviving.  It is not practical.

Also, saying we need to preserve fossil fuels for people 250 years from now is a phony excuse to cut the use of fossil fuels just because you think it is causing climate change because it isn't.

All the nuclear fuel in the world is useless if you don’t have the lubricating oil for the generator. Without lubricating oil, nothing moves. Then there will be the greenhouse effect that is going to start having a serious impact in about two or three centuries.

Do you really think the US can't shoot down ICBM's? Russians? Chinese?

Will they be able to shoot them down ten years from now?

What if you funnel all that money into one plan, and then a guy like Trudeau comes along and scraps it all because "they're bad"?

Humans still kill each other with conventional weapons - it's deemed "acceptable" - but nukes are not really usable in this day and age because the stakes are too high: "Mutually Assured Destruction".

We need smart mines, smart torpedoes, unmanned subs, mini-subs, AI-controlled drones, etc imo. And lots of guns, because they'll always be cool.

I saw an article about micro-drones, the size of bugs, that just land on your head and carry a tiny explosive charge that's only big enough to scramble one brain box. How far away is that from becoming a reality? Will we have to wear tinfoil hats to confuse the AI? Carry tennis rackets? Lol.

But seriously, how expensive would it be to make 10,000 of them? 1,000,000 of them? Load them with just enough AI to select cops and people in suits, and what are we left with here? Dudes in hoodies? A skateboarder army? Just lower the price of weed by 80% for a week and we're defenceless.
