We are in a housing crisis and millions of Canadians are going to food banks that are running out of food. This crisis is caused by government overspending and wasting money on everything under the sun. We know the BC NDP is great at throwing millions of dollars out for everything they can think of, including things FNs demand. How about stopping the waste of taxpayer's money for a first step in helping millions of Canadians who are suffering and have no home. Tent cities and homeless people are a disaster in many cities. FNs north of Vancouver shut down a provincial park/lake. Not sure if it's open now, maybe. But the NDP just sucks up to them and lets them shut a park down to public. They could easily send a few RCMP in there and arrest some of them. Quote

This crisis is happening everywhere and it's an aspect of the breakdown of our global civilization due to its unsustainable nature. There's simply too many people to support and everyone is over-consuming everything under the sun all over the planet. Food is becoming harder to produce and we're overloading the capacity our our ecosystems to absorb our waste. 1 hour ago, blackbird said: We know the BC NDP is great at throwing millions of dollars out for everything they can think of, including things FNs demand. We do? How do we know this exactly? 1 hour ago, blackbird said: How about stopping the waste of taxpayer's money for a first step in helping millions of Canadians who are suffering and have no home. I've doing my bit, advocating for greater density through the process of local governance, and providing an affordable place for a young couple. I believe the park you're talking about was closed due to local FN concerns about the potential for fires breaking out in and around their territories. They closed down a park around here too just after COVID hit out of an abundance of caution to protect people in villages on route to and adjacent to the park. They have since then negotiated with the province to take over the maintenance and management of the park and one of the first things they did was put some limits on the unsustainable numbers of people visiting and impacting the park. Similar to the reasons why there have been limits for years now on how many people can use the West Coast Trail, a federal park. I think the shift in management and its priorities have been a success here and I think transferring more park management and revenue streams from their use towards First Nations is a good idea. Trails and infrastructure in our park were improved and have been better maintained. I attribute this to the fact the parks management is located and rooted more closely to the park instead of in Victoria hundreds of kms away. Local governance is the key. It is mostlyt a result of gov't actions at this point. the housing crisis is sort of an exception - while the feds play a role in that the problem it's just as much a provincial issue and it's been brewing for over a decade now, However the immigration levels right now are making it far worse. And scotiabank published a report last year which showed that the interest/inflation issues are largely being driven by gov't spending and that if that were reduced then ithere wouldn't be a need ot raise interest rates to fight inflation (or you'd get lower inflation with some increase in interest rates). So there's no doubt that There are things the gov't could to tomorrow that would have a very noticeable impact in a very short time, and things that they could do which would alleviate the problems over the mid to long term. But those things are against liberal dogma so they are not happening. Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
