Liberals produce very little. So you only tend to see them in larger numbers when a society or country is doing well. When times are tough - people turn to the tories.  THere's no money for feel good unproductive nonsense. People need for things to actually get done.

Which is why right now in Canada we're seeing young people flocking to the conservatives in droves, even in the major metros. Their future depends on getting rid of the liberal gov't and getting back to good governance - and honestly it was the same at the end of his father's reign.

In the USA... it is not that dire. Yes, macroeconomic fortunes go up and down. But the downs do not generally lead to a wholesale change in one's political preferences and lifestyle choices. in the USA at least.. we would have to see another Great Depression in order to see current liberals abandon the party and do so permanently. 

 

as I see it.. most liberals that I know are simply those who want to solve social ills or inequalities but do not want this change to be organic. They want to bring government in as a way to speed it up. They are just too naive or idealistic to know or ackowledge the limits of human nature, physics, or economics.

In both the Great Depression and the Great Recession (2008) the voters elected Democrats (FDR & Obama) to fix the excesses of capitalism that FAILED.

Sadly, the people who spent all of their formative years training their minds to learn by rote are by far the most susceptible. These people don't just become mild believers - an alarming percentage of them are utterly brainwashed. 

For example, it's not uncommon to see a Dr still trying to make the case that we have a covid vaccine, despite the fact that "vaxing" 85% of our population in 2021 only led to a 30% increase in covid deaths the following year, with almost 90% of those covid deaths coming among the ranks of the multi-"vaccinated". 

No sane person would equate that level of failure with "working vaccine". For an actual Dr to say that is outrageous.

Has it occurred to you that for  "Conservatives", change is not always welcome. "Conservatives" need a good reason to change. Without that good reason, we see no real reason to change anything. Especially those things that we know work.

For instance...for a certain amount of money, we can produce a number of carbon based products that produce energy on demand. All one has to do is burn it. Doing so drives our societies. Liberals want to discontinue this practice because its dirty and appears to be creating an issue within our planet's atmosphere.

OK...How big is this problem...precisely? Our entire society is built on the premise that burning fossil fuels produces the energy to drive our society...so it better be dire.

Well i note that conservatives in the US do win elections pretty regular and by healthy margins so ... some seem to be willing to do so from time to time.

Yes it is very strange when someone like Goddess can look at a graph which clearly shows the most vaccinated have the lowest excess death rates, and come to the OPPOSITE conclusion.
