it's bullshit, slaves weren't taught anything that wasn't to the benefit of their masters. Do you think they were allowed to set up their own businesses on the side? Slave labour was an integral part of the Holocaust as well. Seems I struck a nerve.

Slaves were not allowed to gain employment for themselves. In Florida, black people legally could not be free. If freed for any reason, they were legally required to leave the state of Florida. ALL black people in Florida, by law, had to be slaves. 
 

Maybe that’s why Florida is trying to hard to erase its sordid history.
