Russia has Putin. His leadership has seen huge gains in Russian prosperity.

In the west we have Ol' Joe, Pixie-Dust, Macaroon, Boris "The Disheveled" Johnson and a cast of yes-men and women. Their leadership has seen economic disaster and a level of 3rd world "refugee" acceptance that is diluting our cultures and societies.

Ya gits wut ya pays fer.

Its so lonely in m'saddle since m'horse died.

Yeah when oil was booming and before he started invading his neighbours.

Since then, NOPE.

I don't think Biden is going to run for re-election even though he says now he will. He is clearly getting worse by the day and dementia is not something which would heal with time, quite on the contrary.

The idea of him getting re-elected and lasting until 2029 is just not believable. The important thing though is that he completes this one term so that there's not goibg to be that cackling Kamala as president.

Who's going to be president in 2025? Trump? No! He will be banned. Everybody is saying that Newsom would be the candidate but California has not really lately been a state that others would like the entire country to become like.

Indeed, one can envision her laughing all the way to global thermonuclear war

... and you people applauding it.

(not you, TSS).

In Russia, and around the world, this is how many people view the world.

JFK/NIxon/Reagan - you Americans won the world.

Now, you want to make us all like you.

There is a play, Shirley Valentine - a movie.

When I think of Americans, I am reminded of a few phrases from this play.

"You speak of summer. And the next you know, you're talking of winter."

I remember when I watched Yeltsin resign - I saw his face across many TVs in a Moscow electronics store. It was in December 1999.

Yeltsin said that he wanted to be remembered as Russia's first president.

For modern history. this century. the events of August 1998 are perhaps more significant.

Putin is an incredibly calculated cold blooded killer.

I don't believe for a second that he is crazy.

Removing him from power, removes the stable force he has, and likely puts a loose cannon in his place.

If Putin was a loose cannon he would have already nuked Ukraine, or been far more reckless with bombings.

Cool.  You disagree.  You disagree on a lot of things, but rarely provide any reasoning behind it.

Putin is doing what any Russian leader has done.

So...are all Russian leaders cold-blooded killers then?  ?

This horrific civil war could have been avoided.

Moonbox,

Many innocent people have died, been displaced.

All of this could have been avoided.

Nixon/Carter remind me of Wilson at Versailles. Great pic. Clueless.

Versailles in 1918 decided nothing.

Like 1789 and 1815, the European world changed between 1914 and 1945.

Yalta, Potsdam were significant.

Moonbox,

It was not an "invasion".

In 2014 or so. I flew from Moscow to Simferopol. (I recall the weird/removed customs desks.)

I travelled around Crimea.

Yalta, of course. The famous photo is in a small courtyard.

-this was the dacha of Nicholas II. It is remarkably small. A bit larger than a monster home in Markham, smaller than a place on Toronto's Bridle Path.

-Stalin arranged FDR to be in a dacha close by

-Churchill was in a dacha further away

If it wasn't an invasion, then the Earth doesn't orbit the sun either.

Disagree.

Crimea is no more part of Ukrainia or Russia than the Westmount is part of Quebec or Canada.
