You've heard it to avoid the perceived Boogy men of our public school systems many Righties have went the route of "Home Schooling"..

Well like everything else the Reichwing think chambers come up with those pesky chickens are coming home to roost again.

Education quality is poor at best and the majority of home schooled grads? are incapable of entering even state/SUNY colleges. No doubt a byproduct of mommy with only a GED (good enough diploma) educating her offspring while daddy teaches the important aspects of tractor maintenance on the weekends.

Not only are these children uneducated but they also lack the social skills of learning about what's needed to live in a society. They are easily dupped because they're incapable of judging character, after all mommy never stole their cookies at recess. And many are incapable of forming relationships with the opposite sex hence 40yr olds living single in mommys basement.

But there's always a silver lining, they'll never have a children's story read to them by a drag queen. ? Or have their heads blown off by a mass shooter ?

53% of high school students took the SAT, while 10% of home school students did.  Home schoolers have far lower rates of college attendance.  A summary of many studies can be found at the link below.

Homeschooling Produces Better-Educated, More-Tolerant Kids. Politicians Hate That

"Today's homeschool advocates aren't the Christian Right, trying to dismantle public education. Rather, they're parents who don't believe that the current school model is best, or enough, for their children," reports the Pacific Standard.

"Today's homeschoolers are more demographically, geographically, and ideologically diverse," agrees the City Journal.

From the responses to NCES's survey, families take on educational responsibilities for their children for a variety of reasons, including safety, educational approach and achievement, and philosophy. All are good reasons for stepping away from a one-size-fits-some government institution.

Let's look at traditional measures of academic achievement.

In 2014, SAT "test scores of college-bound homeschool students were higher than the national average of all college-bound seniors that same year," according to NHERI.

"Mean ACT Composite scores for homeschooled students were consistently higher than those for public school students" from 2001 through 2014, according (PDF) to that testing organization, although private school students scored higher still.

By contrast public school kids "bombed the SAT" reports Bloomberg. Mixed, but generally disappointing results since then have education experts worry that many public school graduates are unprepared for either higher education or the workforce.

Do Homeschooled Students Perform Better? 8 Statistics

Here are 8 statistics related to the performance quality of homeschooled students:

  1. Homeschool students are more likely to graduate college.
  2. A quarter of homeschool students skip a grade.
  3. Most homeschool students take part in outside activities.
  4. 50% of parents homeschool for safety reasons.
  5. Parent engagement is an indicator of student success.
  6. Homeschooled students score higher on academic tests.
  7. Homeschooled students score highly in social skills.
  8. Homeschooled students score better on emotional tests.

Statistics on Homeschooling - What Research Reveals About Homeschooling

Homeschool Success Rate

Do homeschool students do well in comparison to their traditionally schooled counterparts? The answer is yes! In the same study cited above in Spring 2008, homeschool students scored exceptionally high on test scores, in the 80th percentile, in comparison with the public school average of 50th percentile. Also, a study done in 1997, of 5,402 homeschool students showed that on average, their scores were 30-37 percentile points higher than their public school counterparts. The study also showed that the longer a child was homeschooled the better the score was. For example, a first year homeschool student scored in the 59th percentile, while a student homeschooled two or more years prior to taking the test score int the 86th to 92nd percentile

Your linking to 25 yr old articles that actually prove my point on how NY takes education seriously and then does something about it. NYs dept of education consistently has thrive to improve education in the state with some of the highest academic outcomes in the country. Want me to Google some of what's going on in the Repulican South. I don't need links to prove every last statement I make like you. Besides no-one listens to or respects opinions of any media sources right or left anymore.

“Everyone”?
Big difference: 53% vs 10%. Home schooling clearly is not preparing these children for college.

Actually...in most of the world, 2023 - 2001 is 22...not 25. So much for the NY education system.

That's not clear at all. Many home schooling is done in rural areas. Farmers who, instead of sending their kids on bus rides, school their kids at home. Many of those kids go on to feed you and fix your plumbing, cars, electrical systems, houses.

I'm a college drop-out. Yet I'd stack my success up against most college grads.

Is college essential? No. I manage a whole bunch of college and university grads...many of whom are dumb as doornails.

Take this @NYLefty for instance. I bet it finished post secondary of some sort.

“Most home schooling is done in rural areas.”

Did you just make that up, or do you have evidence?

Never mind; you never resort to facts, so I’ll just do it for you. This doesn’t come close to accounting for the massive disparity in college preparedness.

One way to clearly show how biased someone is... is to see if they see education in a binary sense. Do they feel homeschooling is a miracle cure? or they villify it? Reality is a bi__h, though. Education is not a one size fits all product. We have considered homeschooling my son.. only because he has some challenges that the traditional public school setting is not equipped to deal with.

Well, thanks to leftism, parents have opted for home schooling out of necessity, not out of preference.

You see, Lefty, we want to be able to trust that educators will teach our kids about essential subjects like english and math, but thanks to brain dead activists like you, schools have been turning into woke indoctrination centers.

Since today's educators have proven that they are not worthy to educate America's children, many parents have turned to home schooling - but that's not enough; we need to take it a step further, and that means we kick the perverts off the school boards and replace them with normal citizens.

Thanks a lot for making life in America that much more difficult.

You didn’t take him to the cleaners, you got owned when I pointed out that the research is 27 years old.   That’s what happens when you read beyond the headlines. You actually learn.  You should try it sometime, dropout.

“Many home schooling” is grammatically incorrect, so I fixed it for you. But if you want to dwell on your mistakes, enjoy.  Meanwhile, you saw the data I posted and it doesn’t show that the demographics of home schooling account for he poor results.
