In the most clear terms, leftism is democratic anti-capitalism. What it's actually about is spreading wealth and power throughout society as evenly as possible in order to achieve a society that is more free in practice as opposed to just legally.

Nope - it couldn't care less about any of that. It wants the power and wealth concentrated in the hands of those it sees as 'worthy' and to remake society in it's own stalinist authortarian image

And yet the most left-leaning countries have the most amount of freedom. ?‍♀️

LOL - you're making it too easy this morning

Sounds like a dystopian nightmare.

No wonder leftism is such a turnoff to normal people.

While the statement you presented attempts to present leftism as a noble pursuit of spreading wealth and power evenly throughout society, it fails to acknowledge the potential consequences of such an approach. Leftism, or democratic anti-capitalism as you put it, often relies on increased government intervention and redistribution of wealth. However, history has shown that excessive government control and wealth redistribution can stifle economic growth and individual freedom.

Depends what you mean by "government control." When the government is involved in people's personal lives, that's generally a bad thing. When the government regulates businesses in a way that protects worker exploitation and public health, that's generally a good thing.

The kind of government overreach that hurts economic growth is the kind that only the Right wants. For example, anti-abortion laws are hurting the medical industry.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/oct/26/us-abortion-ban-providers-doctors-leaving-states

Leftists don't want government in our personal lives.

Quote

Uncle Sam's intervention and wealth redistribution can lead to unintended consequences, such as disincentives to work, reduced productivity, and dependence on the state.

There's actually no evidence of that. When people are treated well and have their basic needs met, they tend to still want to work. People are less likely to give up and withdraw from society if they're happy. That's why the biggest welfare states don't have a problem getting people to work.

The furthest Left countries have the highest living standards, so not very dystopian. And the majority of people are left-leaning. So no, it's not a turnoff to normal people. Conservatives are a much smaller minority.

Yeah, people lean Left until they get a whiff of Portland and San Francisco then they lean to the Right. lol

The problem is, leftism appeals to the lazy side of humanity - it turns once beautiful cities like Portland into shit holes. We as a people have to decide whether we want a truly free society, or a gloomy, leftist dictatorship. I choose the former.

Extreme Left: Stalin and Mao

Extreme Right: Hitler, Mussolini, Kings, religious theocracies (Iran)

Not kings - that's completely different and isn't on the left-right spectrum. And not religious theocracies.

Mussolini - kind of , hitler - meh, he was more socialist democrat so you could argue it either way but as has been mentioned when you get to the real extremes the difference between right and left is paper thin ayway

Of course a King is a right wing dictator. Nobody gets to vote, the king rules and owns all.

Hitler called himself socialist but nobody got to vote once he seized power.  There was nothing left wing about him; his ideological enemy was the USSR, not the West.

you mean like putin, or mao?  Hmmm - turns out the king is a left wing dictator :)

A monarchy isn't a left right spectrum model. Sorry - you'll have to read a book to learn more.

Again - same as stalin, putin. mao, castro,  etc etc etc.

That's ALL socialists.

But really it's all authortarians. All socialists are authortarian (otherwise the system doesn't work) but not all authortarians are socialist.

There was a great deal left wing about him. Actually-  if he hadn't gone nuts and tried to take over the world i would expect he'd be held up today as a great hero by the socialists. He was the model of a social democrat, a person who uses gov't control and regulation and partial ownership to create socialist style control of the means of production within a capitalist model.   And he actually made it work for a time.

Putin is not a king and neither was Mao.

The leaders of Saudi Arabia and Qatar are kings.  Louis XIV was a King.
