Thats not how it works in Canada, on the left side of the political spectrum, there is the Liberal party, NDP party, and green party, all on the left, and going further left as you progress...On the right side of the political spectrum there is the Conservative party, then the PPC party again going further right as you progress through the list...

In the center are voters that swing their votes between elections as they see fit, depending on what party is offering what for election platforms. 

At no point are any of them pro democracy, anti capitalism that i know of. they may offer far left ideas, but do not have anti capitalism ideas in their platforms...Id be curious to find out what American party offers these leftist ideas you talk about...

Our entire existence as a nation has been built around Capitalism, i can't see Canadians giving any of that up...for socialism, or any other form of it...It has built our entire country, not to mention the USA as well, and while we do have warts and some open wounds, we do a lot better than most countries that run a socialist or communist government. 

If Americans were liberal as you see them, liberalism as we know it is anti military, has way to many social programs, pumps large amounts into infra structure projects, up keep of city infra structure, and many more examples, I don't see that coming out of the US... what we do see is more right side of the political spectrum, like being the worlds policemen, massive military and not afraid to use it, almost non existent gun control,  I'm not saying thats a bad thing but in my opinion those are examples of being on the right side of the political spectrum... 

Socialism is on the road to communism, in fact they have many of the same concepts...perhaps you could explain what type of socialist you are? 

Well lots of socialist in the US right now as well, and yet i don't see a major socialist political party, just a question, do you really think that US citizens are ready to become socialist's...i think that would be grounds for another civil war don't you think ?

Look at it like this. For most of history, we had feudalism. Feudalism built tons of kingdoms and empires. But eventually we switched to mercantilism, which improved living conditions. Then we switched to capitalism, which also improved things. There's no reason we can't continue improving society by switching to socialism. Yeah, it will be a big change, but we've made big changes before that were for the better.

Liberals aren't anti-military, they're anti-imperialism, at least for the most part. 

But it's true, America's government doesn't really represent the people, which is one of the things Americans always complain about. Most of the people in charge are to the Right of the average American. That's why the Republicans gerrymander, refuse to end the electoral college, and enact voter-restriction laws. Basically, conservatives are cheating to stay in power.

Marxists think socialism is on the road to communism. They think that if we achieve socialism, then the government will wither away and we'll have an anarchic society where everyone shares everything. Personally, I think that's insane. I don't think the government would ever just die off on its own, plus I don't think anarchy is possible. If we had anarchy like the communists want, we'd just end up with feudalism again. Local warlords with the most power would be making the laws, stealing resources, and there'd be no democratic way to stop them.

So yeah, I'm a socialist, but I don't want communism. I just want the government and the workplace to be as democratic as possible.

No, the vast majority of Americans don't even know what socialism is. We're nowhere close to making the switch. Although, a lot of zoomers are socialists, so that's a good sign.

However, most Americans do want the kind of social democracy that they have in the Nordic countries and the German Sprachraum. That form of capitalism would be much better than what we have now.
