War In Ukraine

The Ukrainian refugees that Russia is forcing out of their homes?  Yeah.  That's why they care so much, and that's why those closest to the Russian border are the countries giving the most aid to Ukraine (proportionally).

Cracks in the armour. These countries are being split politically and socially.

And do you think they really care? They have their own financial market now. BRICS. Its gold-based and oil trade is now being conducted in their own currencies, instead of the "Petro-Dollar".

Ya they care. Every Russian is now a lot poorer. Would you be better off if our dollar dropped 30% against every other currency? Do you think the other BRICS countries will treat Russia like a charity and take payment in Rubles that are worth a lot less.

Worthless to whom? These markets you speak of are all based on the USD. The BRICS nations want nothing to do with USD. They can kill the Ruble completely in their now softened financial markets all they like. Will it affect Russia or any of them? No. They left this USD market because of the abuse they've all suffered from the scheme.

In the meantime...the USA implored the Saudis to lower the price of oil and increase production...and what did they do?

That's right...they lowered production which raised the price of oil.

These countries have shaken loose if the "Petro-Dollar". This will...if it continues...only soften the USD.

BRICS isn't gold-based, lol. A gold-backed multi-lateral trade currency is aspirational, and setting it up would take years.  Global players have been talking about doing it since the 1960's.

Russia is still squabbling with India, for example, on not wanting to be paid in rupees for all of the cheap oil that India is importing, and nobody wants to hold rubles.

So...yes.  They care.  Russia's trade with the BRIC group is less than 25% of what crosses the Canada US border every year.

They appear to be making it happen. You can take the new seriously...or you can be a fool.

Your choice.

Making it happen?  Maybe?  In a few years?

The likelihood that 15-20 countries with wildly diverging interests (and in many cases completely opposing ones) will be able to settle their differences in the near-term and come together on this is...unlikely.

Either way doesn't help Russia today, so back to the original point:  they care.  🙃

Everyone outside BRICS uses the USD as reserve currency. Any BRICS country accepting Rubles for payment will find them next to worthless outside BRICS. That will be  a problem when they want to buy products from the the likes of the EU, Japan or the US. I doubt companies like Airbus, Boeing or any auto manufacturers are interested in accepting Rubles.

Then you go to sleep and when this all slaps the USD down a notch...you can act surprised and outraged.

I wonder how much these countries care...

Probably a lot, taking Rubles for their goods is almost giving them away.

Five years from now?  If it does happen, I'll certainly be surprised, but I'm not sure why I'd be outraged...

In the meantime, you keep rooting for the dictatorships and the communists.  🤣

I'll keep watching and following the facts. Here's one. Moody's recently downgraded the USD.

Biden's actions are degrading the currency, but ya...you should ignore what's happening.

You get squat. But I have advice for you. Invest in US bonds.

That's exactly what the smart money is doing right now.  The Ontario Teacher's Pension plan has bought billions and billions in the least year.

Unsurprisingly, you would do the opposite.  🤣
