The people who argued that posting a picture of yourself holding an effigy of the president's severed head are now trying to convince us that creating political memes is worthy of jail time.

A guy named Douglass Mackey may have conned a few hundred idiots into voting by text lol. He also made some fake memes which showed Hollywood actors pretending to be Trump voters. OOooh the shame.

If you're dumb enough to cast your vote by text, maybe you shouldn't be voting anyways.

Ten years. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/internet/twitter-troll-arrested-election-interference-related-disinformation-campaign-n1255864

If you recall, Twitter blocked a verified, accurate NY Post article in order to discredit it, just to help Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

Is that worthy of ten years as well? It fits the bill of "disseminating false information via social media to change how people vote".

Also, the bullshit at the capitol is outrageous. 26,000 armed troops, that they know they don't need, just to create an atmosphere of fear and the need to protect America from "cracka-ass tarerists". We need to keep them there during the super-important impeachment!!!!!!

An impartial observer would admit that one picture shows a person who destroyed liberty, the other shows a crazed murderer who's still on a bloody rampage.

I'm not personally a fan of severed-head art. It's a Dem thing.

Not even Canadian liberals are into it, just the ones who support the Dems. But to be honest, Dems did support violence and murder (DeBlasio even painted BLM on the NYC streets), so a depiction of DeBlasio with a severed head isn't out of character at all.

Trump, on the other hand, didn't support 'murder' at all.

You could do a mural with Suleimani's severed head I guess, but when you think of all the violence supported by all of the Presidents before him, Trump has almost no blood on his hands.

Deportation is a bit much, but that is a pretty serious slander against Trump, which was not done in jest.

Yes, Twitter blocked the third largest newspaper in the United States from running a completely accurate story, because it might have hurt Biden's election chances.  These are the same people that complain about election interference.  I swear to God, if you're against Trump, you're the biggest hypocrite in the world.  I think it's a mandatory requirement.

It was a story containing unsourced material provided by Giuliani. It's no damn wonder they didn't allow it.

No it wasn't.  It was a story based on credible information obtained by the reporters working on the story.  It's not up to Twitter to determine what unsourced material is ok, and what isn't.  They had no problem allowing stories about Trump based on unsourced material.  The story turned out to be completely TRUE.

The main claims in the Post article, which involve Hunter Biden’s dealings in Ukraine, rest on uncorroborated material provided by Rudy Giuliani, who is President Donald Trump’s personal attorney. Giuliani himself had active ties to a Russian agentpushing conspiracy theories about Joe Biden and his family, which raises concerns about the source of the material Giuliani supplied to the Post.

It was an accurate and verified story. That's all that matters.

At some point in time CNN is almost certain tell the truth about something, does it automatically become a lie just because they said it?

Understatement of the century.

Modified, for the sake of accuracy:

There's nothing that Twitter and FB like more than stories about Trump which are based on quotes from anonymous sources, unsubstantiated allegations from foreign spies or completely twisted narratives.

In the eyes of a leftist, 'anonymous source' means 'verified, factual information'.

Yup...I like him. Jordan, as well.

Just what the Democrats prayed wouldn't happen: the appearance Trump's replacement...and he's YOUNG. Plus he doesn't appear to be fascinated in little girls or Communism.

Don Jr was giving his blessings, I note.

Proof please. Proof that will stand up in court.

Of course there's proof of the Dems' election fraud but that doesn't help Douglass Mackey.

What does help is the fact that a few hundred people voting by text isn't worth 10 years in jail, and the fact that all kinds of people commit voter fraud and the uber fascist Dems are not interested in prosecuting anyone but this guy.

Twitter's disinformation campaign did far more damage than this random dude's memes. When the Dems go after the worst offender in America they can start going after the small fry.

the difference is that Mackey was specifically instructing people in order to make them think they voted, when they did not. which is against the law.

Twitter was not instructing people. it could be argued that they were being biased in the information that they provided. which is not against the law. but hey, blame Regan as he appointed the commissioners who trashed the FCC Fairness Doctrine.

I love how you try to speak English but inevitably fail.

Quote
Merrian-Webster
fas·cism | \ ˈfa-ˌshi-zəm  also ˈfa-ˌsi- \

Definition of fascism

: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control

Just because a word has a classical definition doesn't mean that it doesn't also have an alternative meaning, and that alternative meaning is sometimes the most common usage of the word.

For example, the classical definition of the word irony is more like what we would call sarcasm. A snotty "Nice hair, Trump" from a CNN cultist would be called sarcasm by most people, and that's also correct, but that type of speech conforms exactly to the primary/original definition of the word 'irony'.

When you ask a commoner like us what irony is, 99% of people think that it means something like: "A guy only eats vegan because he thinks it's going to make him live longer than everyone else, then he does from E. coli on his spinach." Not long ago language snobs would tell you that's not irony, but when 99% of the population uses the word like that, the definition changes.

Fascist is the best word to describe the Dems. They have absolute control over the media, they use the FBI & CIA like the politburo uses the KGB, they have violent militias (brownshirts) in BLM/Antifa/social media exercising strict control over what people can read or say, they demonize people based on their racial characteristics, and crossing that party is enough to get a person thrown in jail.

Can you think of a better word to describe that than fascist? What word would you use, gz?

well, i applaud you for providing a definition of the word for the sake of this conversation. as most people who use dog whistle words can't and its impossible to have a rational conversation without agreement on the meaning of words.

i'm curious how the "Dems" do these things then? namely:

how do they have "absolute control" over the media? i agree that media is biased but there appears as much bias at Fox News as any other.

how do they use the FBI & CIA? during the Trump administration, the president had full control of those branches of government. he could have fired everyone. did he fail there?

do you have proof that the democratic party is in some way controlling BLM?

when you talk about racial characteristics are you talking about white nationalists?

who have they thrown in jail for "crossing the party"?

feel free to cite as necessary your claims (Fox "opionion" hosts don't count).

and i'll just keep the "traditional" meaning of the word fascist, thank you. since, if its going to mean something different to everyone then its going to be impossible to hold any kind of conversation at all.

bias needs to be removed from the media. Republicans should back a new FCC Fairness Doctrine that Regan got rid of. hang on... that would mean that Fox news would have to give equal time to Democrat viewpoints? not sure they want that!

while they're at it they should include that private businesses should not restrict their services to people planning illegal activities including murder, insurrection, drug dealing... whatever. free speech!
