ReeferMadness
Trump's popularity has been remarkably immune to things that would have ended most presidencies. Open racism? It doesn't matter. He's caught on tape expressing misogynistic thoughts? "Locker room talk". He uses the presidency to line his pockets? He's a "smart business man". He rips off his contractors? Everyone does it. Will the revelation that he pays basically no income taxes hurt him? Will his supporters finally see themselves as chumps for backing him? It's too soon to say. But this could be the thing that finally hurts him. Ordinary people collecting paychecks have neither the tax loopholes nor the army of accountants and tax lawyers to do what he does. How can anyone see Trump as being an "ordinary guy" now?

ReeferMadness
In other news, Trump's recent campaign manager, Brad Parscale was arrested and is on suicide watch amid reports of campaign money laundering. Trump junior makes an interesting point connected to that. There were cases where these refunds and such the left is pretending to be so outraged about happened under an Obama presidency. Kayleigh Mcenany makes the point that the Dems and their media tried inventing what this thread calls "a tax scandal" in the last election. Didn't work that time either: Edited September 28, 2020 by Infidel Dog

ReeferMadness
I don't expect Trump supporters to really care that the hundreds of millions of dollars of personally guaranteed debt owed to entities unknown make their president vulnerable to leverage. Because, really, by now, they've demonstrated they care about nothing except "owning the libruls".

The tax code is the result of decades of bribery by various moneyed interests who paid presidents, congressmen and senators of both parties to adjust the tax laws to allow them to exempt a wide variety of things, to write down, write off, and pay minimal or no taxes on money made in various ways. For example, in the last tax cut a special tax provision was included which would help... real estate developers. No one seems to be able to explain why. Which allows scumbag rich boys like Trump to pay a tiny fraction of the taxes ordinary people pay every year. ReeferMadness
As with almost everything about Trump, he shows rampant hypocrisy for repeatedly criticizing Obama for not paying enough taxes. Will this bother his supporters? Probably not. They've shown the unique ability to tune out everything negative about him (and that's quite a trick given what a vile history he has). ReeferMadness
No doubt each one of his supporters on this board paid more than $750 in income taxes. You're not breaking any groundbreaking news by telling people this. It's one of the arguments you hear when they talk about how at one time there was a 90% income tax. The rich were able to hire the people to find them tax breaks and could pay less than they did before the tax hikes. Much less. Remember Warren Buffet pretending to complain about paying less than his secretary on tax while his company fought in court to have billions in tax debt expunged?
