If I was in my twenties I would be ignoring it, but this doesn't crimp my lifestyle now that I'm in my fifties

Same here....my "lifestyle" is largely unchanged by this pandemic.   Wife doesn't like it, but I started ordering all the crap she likes online so she is adjusting.

It reminds me of being on patrol at sea for several months with no contact.   I liked it !

Other people are reacting based on their circumstances and tolerance for isolation.    Social media is helping some but also fanning the panic.

which we kind of need.

One theory the had... was to let the young people support the economy, and get infected first... once they get immunity... your work up to larger age groups... when you get to the oldest people, you're close to heard immunity.

Nobody is immune to a coronavirus, this virus is like the common Cold, except the protein spikes are different so this is a Cold on steroids.

A lot of you are retired, some of us want to work. I could be doing business in Toronto now, but my business is in sales... I need to meet clients... and setup for events... where they're is a lot of people around.

Please try and describe the panic. I've been at my cottage for almost 3 weeks now. There was barely any panic when I left.

Can't work during a total lockdown.   People who could still worked even during the Great Depression.

This is new territory.....imposed by government.

After 2008 I pretty much started adjusting my lifestyle for this exact scenario, I wasn't sure of a pandemic, but I set myself up to be able to kick back and enjoy, whenever it was the next crash came, and as this bull market got ever more late cycle, I kicked the preparations for hunkering down into high gear.

There is panic in the markets, media, and people who have never been forced to do without the things and activities presumed to be a right.

Paper towels ?    Seriously ?     We never had paper towels when I was a kid.    We had rags.

Irrelevant, by the time the Chicoms finally admitted to the world that there was human to human transmission of the virus, it was already too late for Justin Trudeau to stop it.

Blame The Commies for bungling the response and covering it up, enough of the Trudeau Derangement Syndrome, this is totally on China.

Blame Gaia, she's been looking for a way to depopulate the two legged pest species for a while now.

Are you required by law to stay home in the United States.

Ya... because we're to stupid to do it on our own, by not having 4 or 5 kids! If you wanna preach about overpopulation, peach it to the fools in Nigeria, who don't know when it's time to stop f@cking.

I starting prepping after a week long power outage in 1998 due to a tornado, similar to what Canadians experienced after the Great Ice Storm.   Just basic stuff that can be stored for a long time, backup power solutions, meds, water, etc.     People can either have confidence in their own resources and planning, or panic because they assumed that preparation is somebody else's  job.    And some people just don't have the resources to squirrel away for a pandemic day.

Nope....voluntary so far....can go outside for exercise or to the store for food.   Gas is very cheap !

From an operational stand point, as an Infantry Reconnaissance Patrolman, with no prospect of prevailing in the face of overwhelming odds, that is in fact the point where you surrender

From there it becomes SERE

SERE?

I even built myself a Trump wall, 8" high board on batten wooden fence around my yard

My neighbour is building a Trump wall out of cinder blocks like they do in Phoenix.    This is his third year on the project.   Even has his own mixer.

Yeah, my mother has nothing, but luckily she's got me putting money straight into her account, although I can't protect her from the virus

It's so much better with the Trump wall.  Even though I'm out in the boonies, people still turn their stupid security lights on, and I like it dark,  it's worth it just for the way it blocks light pollution

And after I built my Trump wall, my neighbor liked it so much he hired the same crew to build one for him,  so now the Trump wall covers both of our properties and that really makes it exclusive up in here.

This virus came from Chinese wet markets, and the virus likely never would have existed or become widespread without those wet markets existing.

Wet markets don't exist in nature, therefore, I blame the Commies, who despite being so authoritarian, refuse to use that inclination to permanently shut those pandemic machines down, and you should too.

I'm not preaching about overpopulation, pandemics are Gaia's way of controlling species which are consuming too much and upsetting the natural balance. This is our rinderpest. Hell, it's even specialising in taking out the old and weak.

As for Africans, they are not the ones over consuming, they don't have two cars and air-conditioning.

Your luddite fantasies of a vengeful Gaia punishing consumption and technological advance are laughable and absurd. Your entire worldview is warped by an anti-human civilization ideology, seeing humans as a plague on the earth. A morally bankrupt ideology that puts the planet and most other species above humans, and basically sees any human flourishing as a negative.
