Canada exports more oil to the USA than we import from Saudi Arabia

https://globalnews.ca/news/4374645/canada-saudi-arabia-oil/

Quote

That’s less than 10 per cent of total imports and amounts to a “drop in the bucket” compared with the United States, she said, which accounts for two-thirds of imports and could easily cover Saudi’s share thanks to growing domestic production.

It is also dwarfed by the 3.5 million barrels per day of Canadian oil that Canada exports mainly to the U.S.

We turned out to be ahead of the curve on this one. Khashoggi’s murder has forced the Americans to review their own relationship with KSA and make a serious effort to downsize the war in Yemen.

Interesting that 9/11 was not the incident to wake Americans up to the control Saudi Arabia has over the USA.

You know you guys can argue all day with Bush, because deep down you know he is right, What has our government done about the initial Saudi threat....Nothing except a few words , we have not done a thing, we still import oil, have there students across our nation, and then this thing about them killing someone.....we sucked in a lot of wind over that one.....what did we do...well we are considering canceling that LAV contract....that was until we said 15 bil dollars worth of military goods is a lot of Lonnie's….naw….the Saudis they get little rowdy every once in a while....we showed them though, scared the crap out of them....you can argue with the Bushmister all night long, fact is our balls are in the misses trumps purse and she said we could not have them back for awhile....or at least until the next election when Justin goes back to being a snow board instructor....

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

No, he was merely correct. Other than that he's as wrong-headed as both you, and the Turd.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

I don’t know how you can defend Trump’s approach on the Saudis.  Canada, a small country, had the balls to speak out against Saudi human rights abuses.  Trump won’t do it even after the subsequent murder of a journalist.

Talk is cheap...much cheaper than canceling defense contracts, oil imports, oil services jobs in SA, and exporting 75% to Trump's American "approach".

This is true,  not to mention how chummy Trump was with North Korea's Un.  Selling weapons to Saudi Arabia means the wars in Yemen and Syria will continue. That means it puts our national safety at risk when we sell to tyrannical Islamic terrorists.  Trump would rather call the Saudi's friends, when they do the same thing that Trump would take Iran to task over.

Oil imports from Saudi Arabia are less than 10% of the overall imports.  The US's export of terrorism is much higher.

Not only do we not see any action from the US government, we don’t see any words.  I thought Trump had “the best words”.  Just more complicity with extremist dictator Saudis.

The U.S. brought far more pressure on the Saudis than Canada, because it can...

It was a small gesture.  Trump says in the same breath that arm sales are too important to the US economy, so basically the Saudis won’t face sanctions or any real consequences.  Even Russia faced sterner consequences for political murders.

Trump states the obvious while Trudeau provides the usual double-speak about arms sales to SA.

The article shows Trump pussyfooting around the issue, asking nicely. Nothing there shows the USA putting pressure on Saudi Arabia.

Your not saying one tweet is having balls are you, and not from the PM who has no balls to start with. The Saudis came back with a slap across the face of our nation....If we had balls we would have canceled all imports of oil from Saudi, sent their students home period with a note from mom that says your not welcome back, pass a bill to stop all trading with the Saudis period.... next cancel that LAV contract , sending a suit case of money back with their Ambassador with the cancelation fee inside of it...marked paid in full... and a great big middle finger mounted to a spring that sprung into action once it was opened.....Now that would have earned some points across the nation Justin would be back in the race for reelection.....Instead we got a few murmurs from the back benches ...we'll show them next time....we thinking about that contract you bullies.....If your going to use their balls to make a tweet it should be done for a good reason, not to just poke the bear and hope nothing happens...but poke it for a purpose....to stand up and own it..... but wait we have our own human rights issues at home to worry about....

Well like I said brother, I'd have your back if you ever staged a coup on this basis.

More stupid stuff from Saudi Arabia..

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-46732786

The second episode of Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj was removed following a legal demand, which reportedly said it violated a Saudi anti-cybercrime law.

It features Minhaj mocking the actions of Saudi officials following the murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi and condemning the crown prince's policies.

Netflix said it backed artistic freedom but had to "comply with local law".

Despite the move, people in Saudi Arabia can still watch the episode on the show's YouTube channel.

Yep , screw the Saudis.   Criticizing them is considered criminal via the anti-cyerbercrime law.

This is what we call an ally?

What, pray tell, is the significance of them whacking Khashoggi when they've already whacked thousands of their own women in public for showing an ankle? Canadians need to rise above the US bullshit peddling that's nothing more than their sick domestic politics.

I mean really, what's Khashoggi compared to a million or so Iraqi victims in a phony war that was based on lies? Didn't those peope end up just as dead and ended up in more pieces than Khashoggi?

Aren't American values strange! Pretending to cry over Khashoggi for political expedience? I must have missed something? Maybe a Canadian Conservative will have an answer for it already ginned up and ready to go?

No stranger than "Canadian values" that insist on continuing exports of amoured assault vehicles to Saudi Arabia to be used in Yemen and elsewhere.

Liberal or Conservative...Canada is funny that way....defense products....mining....oil services...in other nations matter more than superficial "values".

I disagree. Trudeau is implementing a carbon tax.  That’s a sacrifice.

No, it is just more political theatre....same as Canada's massive Kyoto FAIL under Liberal and Conservative governments.
