You telling me he didn't try to get laid at some point? It will be interesting to see what the affidavits say when everything shakes out.... Metoo isn't just coming to political Canada-it's here. Quote There are other men who are about to be exposed. Count on it. The media have been on their trail for many weeks. Once it gets through the editors – once it is okayed by the lawyers – other men will be going down. It is overdue. It is needed. One of these men is very, very powerful. The stories have been known about him for three years. They are in affidavits, plural. His name will shock you. Coming from Warren Kinsella, I'm inclined to believe there's something big about to be exposed. Edited January 31, 2018 by Spiderfish Quote

His conduct fell below the standard required. Edited February 1, 2018 by SpankyMcFarland 1 Quote

One ethnic joke, offhand comment about natives or gays, women etc, or an accusation from someone they knew a decade ago that they were rude or thoughtless and they're toast. The focus on politicians private lives and every utterance has already led to a situation where almost no one of any substance ever wants anything to do with politics. So we get these bland people of little accomplishment, vision or thought, making bland statements so as to not offend anyone on any subject and who care about nothing but their own continued power. How many politicians of the past who did great things, who are remembered for remarkable accomplishments would have been cast aside like yesterday's newspaper if the things they'd said and done in private were dragged out in public and pointed at again and again? Hell, Pierre Trudeau himself would have been jeered and heckled and never even gotten elected as an MP if it came out he had, as a younger man, ridden around on a motorcycle wearing a prussian helmet, trying to organize a violent revolution against democracy and writing antisemitic plays. Where the demands for political purity started is a better question and I'd suggest it was with the Republican pursuit of Bill Clinton. This is an odd shift of gears, what does a disdain for political correctness have to do with exposing the abuse of power? It's almost like exposing the abuse of power is ideologically incorrect. The pendulum will probably swing too far before it comes back again. I would prefer to focus on seriously inappropriate actions that have been verified to at least some extent rather than casual comments or we'll end up with much smaller political parties. For starters, middle aged politicians should not be socializing with young females, especially anybody working with them, and unwanted advances from such geezers should not happen. That's not an unreasonable expectation for any family whose twenty-something daughter is working on The Hill. Edited February 4, 2018 by SpankyMcFarland Quote
