 1) Are you saying until someone dies the politicians should remain silent?

 2) Can I  point out in the very Mosques this MP claims are under attack contain  violent extremists or does that make me Islamophobic?

1) No.  But you're supporting government saying something, which I agree with.

2) Yes.

Yah rhetorical questions. Thanks for response anyways. Its just a minor point we are talking about and that is how she propped up Islamophobia in my opinion as requiring special treatment. Its perception. Its well intended but half assed. Only my opinion.

The catalyst was Islamaphobia, the mandate of the motion was all anti-religious irrational behaviour.....anti-semitism included....I would even venture the anti-sikhism (They're going to kill someone with that ceremonial dagger) that is sometimes displayed.....here and anon.

Not as many as are killed by lightning, so it doesn't matter anyway.

That said, aren't we all allowed to carry a knife in Canada?

Can't wear one to school, unless you are a sikh. Another wrong.

Yeah, that is dumb.

I know these people who think they are eating human flesh every Sunday.  Yes, it's stupid.  The solution is to ban religion.

I would be okay with that, but the Jdubs seem so nice.  Or as Bob says:

Better ban nail clippers at school too since they are sharper.

It's only dumb if it's a weapon.  If it's an ornament or a toy, then it's not dumb.

Really? Can you kill someone with nail clippers? Because this looks very much like it could be a pretty good weapon.

Kirpans are curved and have a single cutting edge that may be either blunt or sharp.[1] They are often between 3.0 inches (7.6 cm) and 9.0 inches (23 cm) long,[1] and must be made of steel or iron.[4]

I'm sure Mike and Bob would both agree that it would be dumb to allow a kid to take one of those to school.

Camping, sure...

Do you know how sharp a ceremonial kirpan is......your nail clippers can do more harm.

True. I do know by which I would rather be stabbed.

Seriously though, bollocks to religious accommodation unless it is extremely benign.

Stop ruining this thread with common sense. Pick an irrational belief and run with it BC and stop being like that.

I say we demand accommodation for students to bring walrus penises and wolf's bladders to class so they  can pray at lunch time with them.

Now here's religious accommodation I can get behind!

Leave her on the floor, post a couple of guards with something to read and a Starbucks or two, and let her bleed out.

From the article:

Quote

Ruth Haile, 40, who has lived in the area for nine years and who witnessed the raid said: "I heard a shot and I looked out my window and there were dozens of police.

"The woman was being arrested, she was on the floor wearing an long dress and covered in a head scarf.  She was shouting, 'Do not touch me, do not touch my body.'

I've had my hand slapped away quite a few times by women in burkas or their husbands, usually while trying to hand them something.

What I don't understand is why if I did that, it would be racist.  But when they do it, it's considered a valid religious belief and must be respected.

I consider the people who slapped your hand when you were merely handing them something extremely rude and I don't actually give them a pass due to their religion.  If I've failed to make that clear in previous conversations, I apologize.  They only ones who'd get a pass for that kind of behavior would be those (of any color or creed) who had some kind of disability that made them fearful of touch, but that doesn't include religion.

If I were slapped by Muslims as you described, I'd consider them very new to Canada.  I'd make an effort to find out if anyone had explained to them that it was unacceptable or if I could do so myself.  If they realized the error of their ways and stopped doing it - or better yet - apologized, I'd let bygones be bygones.   I assume that if they continue that behavior they will find Canada an unfortunate experience for them.

If I were laying on the ground and being approached by men with guns, I might yell out too.
