Guest Posted October 19, 2016 Report Posted October 19, 2016 I'm almost getting the hang of it. Is there a way of getting the new content to show up without each and every new post in a thread showing up individually? The old site would simply show a thread with new content in one place regardless of how many new posts were in it, and the button took you to the first new post. Thanks

Thanks On the Unread Content page, there's a list of 7 menu options along the top (Show me, Content Types, Read Status, etc...). Under "Show me", change the setting from "content items, comments, and reviews" to "content items only". Edited October 19, 2016 by Bonam

jbg Posted October 19, 2016 Report Posted October 19, 2016 On the "old" board I could type in to a quote citation who I'm quoting, if it was outside the board, such as "New York Times" or "Bible," etc. Can this still be done? How? Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).

How? That would be a very useful feature. I never figured out how to do it, and I am sure I tried before the upgrade as well. That is why I generally do not use the quote, except for responses to board posts. In other instances I put the quote in italics and in normal font I put the citation. I also usually try to put a link to the original source as well.
Boges Posted October 19, 2016 Report Posted October 19, 2016 The layout, especially for the mobile version, is less appealing than it was previously. I guess I'll get used to it eventually. BUT I do like that notifications show up as a popup at the bottom of the page while I'm posting.
cybercoma Posted October 19, 2016 Author Report Posted October 19, 2016 That's strange. I find the layout, but especially the functionality infinitely better on mobile.
Boges Posted October 19, 2016 Report Posted October 19, 2016 This is the first day I've been really active on the site almost two weeks, as I was on vacation. I'll have to play around with it more. But the notification interface on the previous mobile version seemed simpler. I guess I'll have to use it more to see how it functions with frequent use.
Michael Hardner Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 Greg - is there a way to reset the # of reports in the top right, as used to happen ? I would like to see the number reflect reports since my last visit instead of a huge number that goes up forever ? Thanks if you can do this, or I guess even if you cant...
