msj Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 Give me proof. I call BS that China can inflate their growth rate for such a long period of time without people noticing and correcting for this. Do they commit fraud? Sure, especially when it comes to CO2 emissions. But give me proof or I won't believe it about real GDP growth. No one is denying that they have experienced incredible growth rates and continue to grow faster than many "advanced" economies. No, the denial is that GDP growth is 7% last quarter and 7.0% the previous quarter and 7.5% the previous etc.... It is simply not believable. Any time the politicians lie to their people it is a problem because how do you know what to fix if you don't know there is a problem? Fortunately it's like science - eventually reality sets in and rears its ugly head. But governments can lie and oppress their citizens for long periods of time (North Korea). Quote If a believer demands that I, as a non-believer, observe his taboos in the public domain, he is not asking for my respect but for my submission. And that is incompatible with a secular democracy. Hoser360 Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 Iranians, amongst other's, were in Iraq killing American's for flying dictators into their world. Saudis flew airplanes into American skyscrapers for the same reason. Americans still seem really unsure of anything and are just flying around in circles. Americans(Europeans) have been meddling in the foreign affairs of so many countries it's hard to know where it began and where is stopped. The difference today, between Saudi and Iran is that Iran does not want to trade in American dollars. (as for Saudi nationals flying plains into the World Trade Centers, that's another story; I still have a hard time believing that 2 planes dropped 3 buildings - and yes I have built tall buildings) Quote
Topaz Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 Speaking of Saudi Arabia, a report out today, is saying that SA is using cluster bombs made by the US and that is breaking the law by the US. Also in another report, I saw were SA has hired over 500 former Blackwater mercenaries to fight in Yemen. http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/new-report-of-us-made-cluster-bomb-use-by-saudis-in-yemen/ar-BBpvgOb?ocid=SK2MDHP Quote

Two days ago, Russia warned that any Saudi ground troops coming on to Syrian soil will be sent home in a box. This morning, Russia and the Saudi's announced that they will co-operate and freeze oil output if the other nations agree. Wow, just in time for Iran putting 500,000 barrels a day into the market. What a coincidence. Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
SpankyMcFarland Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Iran has far greater potential for progress than KSA. The people are less hostile to the West. Look at the polls - you see ladies in black from head to foot but also girls with scarves, sunglasses and make-up. The election results indicate a strong desire for change. Quote
SpankyMcFarland Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) Whether some or all of the people of Iran are more progressive is not of much relevance. The mullahs are in charge and their grip on power is rock solid. The decisions and actions Iran takes will be based on what the mullahs want, at least for the next decade or two. It makes a very big difference as 9/11 and San Bernardino demonstrated. The Kings do not control their people and many of their people want to attack the West in the West, unlike Iranians. We can tolerate Iran having local, Asian ambitions. Edited March 7, 2016 by SpankyMcFarland Quote

What a coincidence. I guess this destroys the peak oil scenario. It also seems that the flood of cheap oil is hurting other nations more than Saudi Arabia. Quote
eyeball Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 It should also destroy whatever pretext there was for interfering in the region or maintaining such an untenable presence there. And people still can't wait to send enough armed forces and reasons to use them there. The sheer abject stupidity is just phenomenal.
