So this is where it breaks down. You are deferring to old practices. We are in a new Age of policing. This includes weapons and racial profiling. A broader discussion needs to take place. I have white children and some of them are partnered with non white individuals. I don't trust the practice of today's police and security system against the members of my family. If police issue an Amber alert for a kidnapped child, and their suspect is a middle age white male, they say so, but I don't think most middle aged white males take offense.

If the police issue an alert for a kidnapped child, it's already a crime. They don't issue alerts that say "A middle aged white guy was seen in the vicinity of a child. Nothing has happened but we all know what *could* happen, so we want to talk to that guy (subtext: because he's white, middle aged and children are mostly kidnapped by white guys, many of them middle aged). Do you think white middle aged guys wouldn't take offense to that kind of message?
