Didn't know how I was going to enter this thread?

Probably the best way is to make everyone realize how much this actually goes on, but is actually acceptable in slightly different contexts!

If somebody can be transgendered, then there's no reason somebody can't be transracial. You made the bed lefties, now you gotta lay in it.

You know there's a difference between race and gender, right? They're completely different things, yet you keep trying to make some comparison between the two things as if they're the same.

Yes, you're genetically born male or female, black or white.

In my experience, a prerequisite for identifying as a particular ethnicity or race is acceptance by that ethnic/racial community.

In this case, this woman was accepted by black people and the NAACP as black- or at least as a memeber of their community-, which should be the end of it. But the media heat got pretty intense, so she had to move on and so did the NAACP.

The only reason she was accepted was because she lied about being a member of said community.

Where were all of you sudden converts to "transracialism" when Michael Jackson was around?

Or what about the Rollin Stones/Mick Jagger who pretty much based their early career on a handful of African/American recording artists?

Just as anyone who is transgender is lying about their sex.

It's hilarious watching the lefties twist and contort to try to clainmthat these are somehow different. They are EXACTLY the same concept -- someone pretending to be something that they are not.

I don't think that was the only reason. According to her past portfolio she has done a lot of work for the NAACP. As they have said, you don't need to be black to belong to the organization. In fact some of the founding members were white.

You gotta wonder how the logical inconsistencies don't bother them. Oh well, I guess it works the same way as religion, blind faith without rational thought.

Are you finished trans-gendersplaining?

Or do we have to read another 3-4 pages of transgendersplaining to get it?

I'm betting you're not even close to finished yet.

She has some serious mental problems.

Is that what this is about? Are you implying that this woman is mentally-ill and so it follows that transgenders are also mentally-ill?

Do you realize that you can be transgender with or without mental-illness and likewise you can emulate other cultures with or without mental-illness?

This woman is pathological and possibly criminal. It's nothing remotely like transgenders who acknowledge their assigned genders and don't behave in criminal ways.

Lying to whom, exactly?

Only to a simpleton, but then at least you're not pretending to be anything else.

No, I'm suggesting that this woman is mentally ill based on her pathalogical lying amoung other things.

No, the facts do not support that statement.

The NAACP nationally and local leaders all said that race was not a determination for leadership or membership in the NAACP.

She left because eventually the heat was just too much for her and the NAACP.

There is no question she was accepted as part of the black community in Spokane, and that did not change much with her outing by others.

Because they thought she was black!

Oh yeah?

Spokane NAACP members organized a petition asking Rachel Dolezal to take a leave of absence. Those who want Dolezal to step down plan to gather at the Spokane NAACP headquarters Monday night.
"This is not about race. This is about integrity," said Kitara Johnson, a member of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP.
Johnson was also the organizer of the online petition. She said it got 60 signatures in one day as of Saturday evening. By Monday morning, the petition had almost 500 signatures.

I can totally understand that Gender is something you feel, your racial make-up is something you are.

But when someone believes they are a different gender, they often change their physical appearance to to make the public think they're a different sex than they are. I don't see that as a whole lot different than what this lady did.

My question stands, if it wasn't for the deceit, was what she did really that bad?

That's super well-put, actually.

I think one has to consider the historical context of white people dressing up as black (blackface) and white cultural appropriation of blackness here. Historically, light-skinned black people have passed as white to escape oppression while white people dress as black to mock black people. I know some people like to think these things happen in a vacuum, but they don't.

Why? That is a completely arbitrary assertion. Logically one's biological sex is equivalent to one's racial make up, however, if you want to define a concept called 'gender' that is independent of one's biology then there is no reason to say that one's 'internal race' can't different than one's actual racial make up.

The hypocrisy here comes from people who think that others must blindly accept claims someone makes about their gender that are at odds with their biology but it is fine to attack someone who makes claims about race which are at odds with their biology. Some who demands the former has no business doing the latter.
