Big Guy Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Jaques Parizeau died earlier this week at the age of 84. He was the force and organization behind the 1995 referendum for Quebec to separate and destroy Canada. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/06/03/state-funeral-for-jaques_n_7507710.html The referendum in 1995 was very, very close with Jaques losing by about 1%. He followed up his loss by blaming those "immigrants who should never have had a right to vote," There is a state funeral which will be held Tuesday afternoon. This man was a traitor and a bigot. If he had his way then Canada would no longer exist. To give him a state funeral is an aberration and an insult to all Canadians. Jaques Parizeau, good riddance to you. May your ilk never again be allowed to surface in this nation. Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

On Guard for Thee Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) I will agree I am certainly happy with the result of the referendum, however this is not the USSR, and so we don't crush dissenting opinions. drummindiver Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 I agree with BG. Why have a state funeral for a person who's entire political agenda was the decimation of the state? Hypocrisy at it's best. I doubt JP would agree either. Quote
Bryan Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 I want to make a point of knowing where he's buried. Pissing on that grave is definitely on my bucket list. Quote
Topaz Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't form MP Deb Gray, talk about ALBERTA leaving Canada at one time???? Quote
Signals.Cpl Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 So? As far as I know she is alive, can't give a state funeral for those who are still alive... so what is your point? Quote Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst

drummindiver Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 I think the thread title is unnecessarily disgusting. You`re right. I don`t think we should be mentioning JP`s name anywhere. Good call. Quote

Topaz Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Big Guy said that JP was a traitor because he wanted separation from Canada and I just mentioned other people, like Deb Gray had also, so does that make her a traitor??? Sometimes , it has to do with more of a frustration of how the feds transfer, usually. Quote

I'm a founding member of the Reform party, and this is the first I've ever heard anyone say that about Deborah Grey. It certainly goes against the party's core principles -- Reform was formed as an alternative to the Western Independence Movement that was starting to gain steam in Alberta at the time. Do you have a cite for when she ever advocated such a thing? How far back are you thinking that this might have happened? Even if she had ever discussed the concept, she certainly never campaigned on it, and never actively tried to make it happen. No referendums were held, etc. Quote
PIK Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Did deb gray take it right to a vote that we almost lost, no she did not. So enough of the bull topaz. And with his remark about ,that if they won the Quebecers would have been trapped like lobsters being thrown into a pot of boiling water. The people of Quebec should be feeling lucky they did not win, because it was all about power and nothing to do with the people. He was a turd and should be treated as such. Time for some people here to grow some balls and stand up for this country ,instead of the constant whining. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
On Guard for Thee Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Joe Clark quite aptly dubbed Gray...the high priestess of hypocrisy. Quote
Michael Hardner Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 He followed up his loss by blaming those "immigrants who should never have had a right to vote," I think you're misquoting him, maybe due to faulty translation. It was, as I recall, the moneyed and the ethnic vote that he blamed. Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Michael Hardner
Michael Hardner Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Did deb gray take it right to a vote that we almost lost, no she did not. So advocating to split up Canada is fine, taking it to a vote and losing is fine, taking it to a vote that "we" almost lose isn't ok ? You're pretty clearly setting up the rules so that you START with Parizeau=traitor, Grey=patriot then moving backwards to decide what the rules should be to defining those terms. cybercoma Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) I love the saltiness about Parizeau. The guy brings people together to democratically and peacefully secede and he's called a traitor. Perhaps the next Quebecois movement for independence should be done with guns and bombs instead of ballots. Edited June 8, 2015 by cybercoma Quote
drummindiver Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 He stated not long ago separation was still achievable, and that public funds should be utilized to do this. State money to decimate the state. State funeral for a person looking to decimate the state. Talk about hypocrisy. Quote
Michael Hardner Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 State funeral for a person looking to decimate the state. Talk about hypocrisy. I don't see why - it's Quebec announcing the state funeral and he wanted to keep the Quebec government intact as far as I know. Maybe we should be happier that democracy works sometimes once in a while, I think. I don't know. ( Canadianism. ) Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Michael Hardner
Signals.Cpl Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 @ Topaz: Maybe others have said that and at the end of the day it is all the same to me whether it is someone from Alberta, Quebec or Nova Scotia. It sickens me that we pay pensions to former MP's who have spend their entire careers in Parliament with the aim of destroying the country, it seems hypocritical for those individuals to take money from the government of Canada and the citizens of Canada while spending decades trying to destroy Canada. Quote Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst
Signals.Cpl Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 @ drummindiver: I think the state funeral is a Quebec "state" funeral rather than a federal one...You know they are a nation and all right? Better than those of us unfortunate enough to live in a mere province... Quote Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst
PIK Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 A lot of people have wanted separation in this country. Even the natives do not even call them selves Canadian. But there is a huge difference when some one says it compared to someone that came close to doing it. And what really bothers me , is the immigrants that came to Canada and then worked to destroy it. We have it so good here in Canada, but yet people still are not happy. Be very careful what you wish for. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
Michael Hardner Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 And what really bothers me , is the immigrants that came to Canada and then worked to destroy it. Huh ? You mean the 'ethnic vote' that Parizeau faulted for keeping Canada together ? Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Michael Hardner
PIK Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 I am talking people new to this country that joined his party. Come to Canada and then join a separatist party. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
