Accountability Now Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Anyone NOT heard of this band? AMA award, Grammy winner , 5 Billboard awards,World Music Award......no entertainment under the bed ? Lol. I'm with you on this one. I'm glad to hear they got them but they might not be for everyone. Black Dog Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 BLECH. Every Grey Cup half time show should feature Trooper or a respectable Trooper cover band. Enough of this shitty American pablum. Quote

Black Dog Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Don't really understand why tween girls is a market the CFL is interested in pursuing. Quote
Mighty AC Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Yeah, it's hard to understand why a league would want to stay current and attract young fans. Black Dog Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) Yeah, it's hard to understand why a league would want to stay current and attract young fans. I have a Venn Diagram for you: (imagine dragons fans) (potential CFL fans) Edited October 2, 2014 by Black Dog Quote
Mighty AC Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) I have a Venn Diagram for you: (imagine dragons fans) (potential CFL fans) Nice. For the past 4 years the CFL's marketing plan has been to move those two groups closer together. They acknowledged there lack of young followers and have been striving to fix that problem. Their album is solid and I also saw them perform live during a Jimmy Fallon taping; they are a very good band. Maybe the CFL can help you move beyond Trooper into something a little more relevant. cybercoma Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Can we stop saying Trooper? I've been working very hard to forget they exist and you boys aren't helping. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Maybe we can get Trooper to play the Super Bowl. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
BubberMiley Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 I think Shania Twain is the only person to have done both. Unless the Black Eye Peas have done the Superbowl too. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet

The trooper thing was a joke, but they've been around since 1975. It's hard to imagine (get it) Imagine Dragons will half that kind of longevity. IOW: no one is going to give a shit about ID in year or two. Which is exactly why chasing flavour of the month pop pablum is a bad idea for the CFL (remember Carly Rae Jepsen? That's OK, no one else does either.) Quote
Mighty AC Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 We're here for a good time, not a long time so for a party happening now, a popular current artist makes sense. Addionally, Imagine Dragons is one of those acts that appeals to everyone from grade school kids up to the blue haired, hip replacement crowd. Carly Rae and the Biebs aren't my taste but I'm old, already a fan and will be watching the game anyway. Pairing them and Marianas Trench with Gordon Lightfoot was a wise move for an organization with an aging fan base, trying to attract new blood. Hal 9000 Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 I always appreciate when they stick with Canadian content - Big Sugar, Trews, or Sheepdogs type of bands Quote The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so. - Ronald Reagan I have said that the Western world is just as violent as the Islamic world - Dialamah Europe seems to excel at fooling people to immigrate there from the ME only to chew them up and spit them back. - Eyeball Unfortunately our policies have contributed to retarding and limiting their (Muslim's) society's natural progression towards the same enlightened state we take for granted. - Eyeball
Mighty AC Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 I always appreciate when they stick with Canadian content - Big Sugar, Trews, or Sheepdogs type of bands Personally, I would love to see The Tea Party perform...though they aren't going to attract the youngens either.
